Chapter 741: Chapter 51: Heroic Spirits Gather (5th update, extra for repaying debts)

The scene shifted from ’friendly’ negotiation to a confrontation.

”Is it wrong for me to say knights are foolish? The virtues of knighthood, seemingly noble and glamorous, are actually contradictory. How can one be merciful while bravely slaying enemies, and how can one be humble while speaking honestly? These virtues are merely tools for those in high positions to constrain the strong. Some virtues are indeed good, but where does the word ’knight’ originate from? A clever king’s beta test?”

Su Xiao was laughing. If he could provoke Saber, the likelihood of the two sides meeting would increase.

”For example, a knight protects the princess. While protecting her, the princess might develop feelings for him, but don’t forget, the princess eventually marries another prince, not the knight.”

”What you say may be true, but it’s not a reason for you to kill people for pleasure.”

Saber wasn’t foolish; she knew that Su Xiao was trying to provoke her, so she remained silent.

Kill for pleasure? Did he say that? Su Xiao thought about it. It seemed that he did mention it while rambling earlier. Sure enough, Saber wasn’t easily provoked.

”Is this what you call cooperation? If so, then there’s no possibility of cooperation for us.”

Emiya Kiritsugu picked up the phone. He had already discerned Su Xiao’s lack of willingness to cooperate.

”There once was, but as for now... you took too long to consider, Emiya Kiritsugu.”

Su Xiao hung up the phone. According to his plan, this call should have come a day ago. He had given Emiya Kiritsugu time to consider, but unfortunately, the other party took too long, leaving no chance for cooperation.

In the bedroom, Su Xiao crushed the phone in his hand.

”Then... let’s continue the Holy Grail War. I wonder how many Heroic Spirits are still alive.”

Su Xiao was ready to continue participating in the Holy Grail War. To complete the main task, which is to touch the Holy Grail, the Holy Grail must first descend.

For the Holy Grail War to reach this point, two conditions still need to be met for the Holy Grail to descend.

First is the vessel. The vessel is already there, it’s Emiya Kiritsugu’s wife, Alice Phil, this beautiful woman. She is a homunculus, prepared by the Einzbern Family as the vessel for the Holy Grail’s descent.

The Einzbern Family is outwardly reputable but is actually a cunning old fox family. First, they used Alice Phil to bring Emiya Kiritsugu into the Einzbern Family as a son-in-law, and then they had Emiya Kiritsugu replace them in participating in the Holy Grail War. Thus, Alice Phil serves as the vessel and brings in someone to replace the Einzbern Family in the Holy Grail War, killing two birds with one stone.

Although it sounds harsh, the Einzbern Family did it just like that, under the guise of trusting Emiya Kiritsugu.

As for the second condition for the descent of the Holy Grail, it is to fill it with the souls of Heroic Spirits, meaning the more Heroic Spirits that die, the closer the descent of the Holy Grail.

What Su Xiao needed to do was find the other Heroic Spirits and eliminate them, or if time allows, wait for those Heroic Spirits to kill each other.

The Core of Devour can absorb Heroic Spirit Energy, so Su Xiao would not just watch but actively participate. The Blue Steel Shadow Ability was about to upgrade to LV.30, which would enhance his strength, and maybe the Green Shadow King could awaken? Of course, the possibility was slim.

That night, Su Xiao didn’t take action. Instead, he had a comfortable sleep to recharge. He had gone through many high-intensity battles before, not having slept for two days and nights. He was able to hold on not just because of his strong body but also due to his strong willpower.

At noon the next day.

Sunlight streamed into the bedroom through the curtain gaps as Su Xiao leaned against the headboard, holding a tablet. He wasn’t playing games but checking recent news in Fuyuki City.

”No riots, no large-scale destruction, just a large number of missing children. Interesting.”

From this information, it seemed that in the past two days, other Heroic Spirits hadn’t clashed. The disturbances from Heroic Spirit battles are significant, and even with the Holy Church’s cover-up, there would still be traces, like news of accidental fires.

As for the case of many missing children, based on information from the original work, Su Xiao guessed it was the doing of the Caster faction. The Masters and Heroic Spirits of the Caster faction were peculiar; their goal was not the Holy Grail but to kill people and seek Saint Joan of Arc, who has the potential to become a Heroic Spirit, but she did not appear in this Holy Grail War.

Although there were no clues, Su Xiao did not believe those Masters and Heroic Spirits would remain quiet. All he needed to do was wait.

Su Xiao stayed inside a private house all day and didn’t go out. He played poker with Bubu Wang and Sakura Matou. The possibility of Heroic Spirits fighting during the daytime was low, as it would cause significant disturbances. Battles usually happen at night.

Around seven in the evening, while Su Xiao was performing routine maintenance on Dragon Slash, a magic wave appeared nearby and was approaching closer and closer.

Swoosh~

A chariot sped through the air. Su Xiao swiftly moved to the window and looked at the distant chariot, which was a carriage and, accurately, a Noble Phantasm of a Heroic Spirit.

”Conqueror King, the Rider faction.”

Sheathing Dragon Slash, Su Xiao opened the window and jumped out of the room.

”Bubu, don’t sleep; time to work.”

Bubu Wang’s ears twitched on the sofa. It jumped off, grabbed the bewildered Sakura Matou, and rushed out the window, followed by Matou Yanye cloaked in black smoke.

Su Xiao hurried through the night, following the chariot in the sky from afar. With his agility attribute, it wasn’t a problem to keep up with the chariot on foot.

On the outskirts of Fuyuki City, in an abandoned factory.

Boom.

Earth and rocks splattered as a completely black figure flew out of the factory, smashing through the perimeter wall and rolling a few times before stopping on the nearby road.

This was Hassan Sabbah (Faceless), one of the seven Heroic Spirits serving as the Assassin. This figure’s gender was unclear, and their ability was somewhat special.

Hassan Sabbah (Faceless)’s combat ability wasn’t top-notch and they suffered from multiple personality disorder. Instead of being a weakness, it became their ability.

Due to having multiple personalities, Hassan Sabbah (Faceless) could separate different personalities, allowing each personality to obtain a physical body. This wasn’t just as simple as a clone but a split.

Hassan Sabbah (Faceless) could split into 80 different personalities, each with its independent consciousness and body, capable of acting independently. However, this ability had a weakness; if choosing to split, the total amount of magic power remained unchanged, meaning the more divisions, the weaker each individual would become.

If engaged in battle with other Heroic Spirits, choosing to split wasn’t a wise decision, as demonstrated now.

Hassan Sabbah (Faceless) was facing Saber. The cause was simple: Hassan Sabbah (Faceless) came to assassinate Saber’s proxy Master, Alice Phil, Emiya Kiritsugu’s wife. Sensing something was off through intuition, Saber prevented Hassan Sabbah (Faceless), who was close to succeeding. Unable to avoid it, Hassan Sabbah (Faceless) had to engage with Saber.

Donning battle armor and wielding a transparent Holy Sword, Saber walked out from the breach in the wall. She wouldn’t hesitate against the Heroic Spirit attempting to assassinate her Master.

”You shameless cur, attempting to assassinate my Master with such despicable means...”

Saber hadn’t finished speaking when the sound of chariots roaring from high above reached them.

”Slow down~ I’m gonna throw up.”

The chariot landed, and a voice filled with sobs came from it. It was the Master of the Conqueror King, Webber Vervitt. This young man had white skin and a weak voice, and standing next to the tall and sturdy Conqueror King, he looked every bit like a ’Queen’, even though he was male. As the saying goes, so cute, of course, it’s a boy.

”Never mind the little things; it’s quite lively today.”

Conqueror King- Iskandar, clad in a red cape with a head full of red hair, even his beard was a wine red, gave off an impression of ruggedness and generosity. Of course, this guy had potential for being a headstrong fool.

The strength of the Conqueror King was formidable. Among the seven Heroic Spirits, he could rank near the top. His power wasn’t in individual strength, but in mass battles, overwhelming crowds.

”Saber, Assassin, your merciless fighting was riveting.”

Conqueror King- Iskandar gave a thumbs-up, at which Saber (Artoria) and Assassin (Faceless) were left dumbfounded. They didn’t know if he intended to join the fight; didn’t seem like it.

”However... I am not the only Heroic Spirit drawn by this battle. Those cowards still hiding will not escape the humiliation of facing me, the Conqueror King Iskandar,”

’Headstrong fool’ indeed, as he provocatively challenged all the other Heroic Spirits present.

Not far away, Su Xiao observed the situation, unconcerned. He was prepared to patiently wait for developments. So many Heroic Spirits had gathered, and rather than calling it a melee, it was more like a formal declaration of war between the Heroic Spirits.

Su Xiao might not care, but other Heroic Spirits were mindful of the Conqueror King’s provocation, such as one particularly proud Heroic Spirit.

Golden sparkles appeared, and a Heroic Spirit in full gold armor materialized, standing atop a lamppost by the roadside, looking down on everyone below as if they were ants. Even though many Heroic Spirits were beneath him, he remained calm and unruffled.

It was Heroic King Gilgamesh, who looked down upon the gathered Heroic Spirits and said in a disdainful tone, ”Mice who dare claim kingship behind my back.”

”Those words are truly heartbreaking. I, Iskandar, am the one and only world-renowned Conqueror King...”

”Ridiculous.”

’Golden flash’ Gilgamesh interrupted the Conqueror King.

”The only one who can be called a king among Heroic Spirits is myself, the rest are just filling numbers...”

”Toshiomi!!”

A roar erupted, as Matou Yanye, surrounded by black smoke, stood roadside, glaring up at the Heroic King. Somehow he realized the Heroic King was the Heroic Spirit of Tokiomi Tohsaka.

”Hmm?”

The Heroic King furrowed his brow, looking at Matou Yanye.

”You mad dog, who allowed you to look at me!”

Circles of golden space ripples appeared behind the Heroic King, and a few magical weapons poked out from within, revealing their sharp tips. These magical weapons weren’t of high level, as the Heroic King wouldn’t use his full strength off the bat. Though arrogant, he wasn’t mindless.

”Roar!”

A roar was the response to the Heroic King.

”Use your death to please me, mad dog.”

Swish~

Several magical weapons ejected, flying at an incredible speed, heading straight for Matou Yanye. Given Matou Yanye’s strength, facing such an attack, it would be a miracle to escape unscathed.

Clang.

A pale blue Blade Aura sliced through the night sky, shattering those lower-level magical weapons, dispersing them into particles of light.

”What are you looking at, charging fees? The golden one.”

Su Xiao stood on a nearby wall, the night breeze causing the hem of his black windbreaker to flutter dramatically.

”And which mutt might you be?”

The Heroic King tilted his chin slightly. Though those were mere ordinary magical weapons, having them destroyed was annoying.

”Did you just... use the word ’mutt’?”

The smile on Su Xiao’s face vanished, replaced by a sharp and ferocious aura spreading out.

”This is not good.”

The Conqueror King shielded his Master Webber in front of him, while Webber shivered under the intimidating aura. Not far away, Saber quickly dashed to Alice Phil’s side to protect her.

”I was indeed talking to you, mutt.”

Although the Heroic King sensed Su Xiao’s overwhelming aura, his expression remained unchanged.

”Me? Given the current situation, I’m a ’Heroic Spirit’, ’previously’ a human, whereas your aura... has the scent of a False God, as well as human traits, a god-human hybrid, so who’s really the mutt?”

Su Xiao rarely initiated trouble, but when faced with direct provocation, he was never one to back down.

”No point in further words.”

The golden ripples behind the Heroic King increased in number, at least dozens of them densely packed.

”Just as I hoped. Your magical weapons are intriguing, especially your sword-type ones.”

Su Xiao slowly drew the Dragon Slash at his waist. In a long-range battle, he wasn’t a match for the Heroic King, but if he could get close, with the Heroic King’s strength attributes of Muscle Strength B, Durability B, and Agility B, Su Xiao would cut him down so thoroughly the Heroic King would question his life. If by his sword speed and Gilgamesh’s arrogance, there’s a good chance he couldn’t even draw the Sword of Separation of Heaven and Earth before getting sliced by Su Xiao.
