Chapter 703: Chapter 13: ’Unarmed’ Lancer

Inside a dilapidated building, a spiritualized Heroic Spirit appeared. This was a handsome Heroic Spirit, with a tear mole under his eye that had a charm ability, considered an ’EX-level Noble Phantasm’ to most women.

The Heroic Spirit knelt on the ground, head bowed.

It must be said, Dill Multo was an excellent Heroic Spirit, not only powerful in combat but also shrewd in intelligence. Most importantly, he obeyed his Master’s orders, a truly loyal servant.

Unfortunately, his Master Kenneth was full of suspicion towards him, afraid that this Heroic Spirit would cuckold him.

”Master, I have scouted the enemy’s position. One side is the Saber (Knight of the Sword) camp, located on the rooftop to the west, while the other side appears to be the Berserker camp in a residential house. Combined, they number no more than ten, but our position offers strategic advantage to observe their movements.”

Dill Multo obtained this intelligence at considerable risk and detailed it to Master Kenneth.

”Is that so? The best outcome would be for them to clash first.”

Kenneth took a deep breath, suppressing his dissatisfaction with Dill Multo. To be honest, he was fairly satisfied with this Heroic Spirit, except for certain aspects.

”Indeed, based on my previous observations, Berserker emits black smoke, giving me a sense of berserk instability.”

”Black smoke? Are you sure?”

Kenneth raised an eyebrow.

”Absolutely certain, I stake my life on it, I dare not deceive you, Master.”

Dill Multo sighed inwardly, hoping for his Master’s trust. Despite the Master’s fiancée showing affection towards him multiple times, he always firmly rejected her. If not for considering that woman’s social status, Dill Multo would have ignored her completely.

”In that case, we’ll keep observing. Dill Multo, continue to gather intelligence and report any changes immediately.”

”Yes.”

Dill Multo saluted as a Knight would, and turned to walk out of the building.

”Do not expose yourself.”

Despite his suspicions, Kenneth acknowledged him as his Servant.

”Thank you, Master...”

”Say no more, leave!”

”Understood.”

Dill Multo’s eyes darkened as he turned and left.

Being summoned as Lancer felt a little demeaning to Dill Multo. His two magic swords ’Rage of Fury’ and ’Wrath of Indignation’ were more famous than his spear.

Based on his abilities, becoming a Saber class would be no challenge, and if he manifested as a Saber, his strength would increase by at least 40%.

However, he became Lancer, with the Luck attribute rated E. From past Holy Grail Wars, Lancers generally had a tough time.

At the outskirts of Fuyuki City, three parties stood facing off distantly, coincidentally forming a triangular formation.

Time passed, an hour stretched to two...

By 7 PM, as darkness cloaked the sky, no party had made a move.

In a residential house, Su Xiao used the Eye of the Apostle to survey the surroundings, inadvertently noticing a suspicious figure, a golden-haired girl.

”That’s... Saber? Almost didn’t recognize her in a suit.”

Having identified one faction’s whereabouts, Su Xiao refocused, knowing another faction was hiding deeply. Given their observation of the church, they were likely one of the Archer, Assassin, or Lancer camps. Archer or Assassin seemed unlikely, leaving the Lancer camp.

Su Xiao’s deduction was grounded. He had already sensed more than one group tracking him. The Caster and Rider camps were minor players not capable of surveilling the church. Both Masters were quite insignificant, one was a ’Queen’, the other a criminal boy.

Excluding his group and the Saber camp, only three factions remained. Archer and Assassin were aligned with the Old Priest and unlikely to act first.

Su Xiao’s process of elimination pointed to the Lancer camp. Another possibility was Contractors tracking him, but without conflicting interests, Contractors rarely fought.

The three parties were deadlocked, none willing to strike first, each waiting for the others to clash. None would retreat without a skirmish.

Su Xiao would not retreat either; he needed assurance of no tails before heading to Liu Dong Temple.

”Roar~”

A low growl came from Su Xiao’s side. It was Matou Gan Ye, bound with steel wire for hours.

Upon sensing an enemy Heroic Spirit, he attempted to rush out, embodying a Berserker’s reckless nature.

”Hang in there. Heroic Spirits will only gather, and then...”

Su Xiao was cut off by a snap, as Matou Gan Ye broke free of the wire.

Matou Gan Ye roared furiously, his chest burning with unquenchable rage. He glanced at Su Xiao, hesitated, then charged at the wall of the house.

With a crash, Matou Gan Ye burst through the wall.

Standing by the hole, Su Xiao retrieved the Boundary Line, with black-painted armor tied to it.

”Truly a Berserker now.”

Su Xiao held back from charging with Matou Gan Ye, whose survival instincts were heightened. His distraction could be beneficial, especially with Sakura Matou as backup.

”Bu Bu, find a place to hide, and take her.”

”Woof.”

Bubu Wang barked, leading Sakura Matou through a window on the opposite side of the house. Not adept at fighting, it could hide where none could find it.

’Berserker’ Matou Gan Ye sprinted onto an open field nearby.

”Roar!!”

His furious roar startled a flock of birds. Matou Gan Ye, enshrouded in black smoke, exuded an overwhelming presence.

Seeing this, Kenneth inside the dilapidated building felt his heart tighten. This was an ideal chance to kill the Berserker camp’s Master.

”Lancer.”

Kenneth growled, and Dill Multo manifested immediately.

”At your service.”

”This is an opportunity. Immediately eliminate Berserker’s Master. Be quick! Berserker in Berserk mode is difficult to control; this chance is rare.”

”Master, may I release my Noble Phantasm?”

”Killing an enemy Master should be simple for you. Only reveal your identity when absolutely necessary. In crucial moments, I permit you to release your Noble Phantasm.”

”Understood.”

Dill Multo spiritualized, his transparent form leaping away from the building.

Kenneth’s goal in the Holy Grail War wasn’t solely the Grail. He also sought to prove his abilities and magical prowess, so he acted decisively at the opportunity.

Nearby, atop a residential building, Saber, clad in a black suit, opened her eyes slightly.

”Master, the Lancer camp has moved. I sense a spiritualized Heroic Spirit nearby and it’s likely Lancer!”

’Foolish King’ Saber didn’t particularly endorse direct attacks on enemy Masters, as it clashed with her knightly demeanor, but she didn’t reject it entirely.

”They’ve acted? This is indeed an opportunity.”

Emiya Kiritsugu searched for Su Xiao through his sniper rifle scope, but being a sniper himself, Su Xiao wouldn’t expose himself to gunfire.

”First, observe the situation. Where is Lancer?”

Emiya Kiritsugu glanced at Saber.

”He has rushed into that residence.”

No sooner had Saber spoken than a boom reverberated from the distant house, and Dill Multo was sent flying through the wall, a deep gash in his chest and abdomen. Though holding a spear in each hand, he did not unleash his Noble Phantasm. His spears lacked potency, rendering him nearly unarmed before Su Xiao, whose attributes were mostly A or A+, making the outcome predictable.

Clang.

A pale blue Blade Aura flew from the house, as Dill Multo barely managed to shatter it with the red spear in hand. Usually, Blade Aura wouldn’t break so easily, but this red spear was notably powerful, known as the Rose of Exorcism.

He thudded to the ground, arms trembling.

Kenneth, observing from afar, was dumbfounded, as were Emiya Kiritsugu and others.

”The one inside isn’t...”

Dill Multo started to yell when a figure cloaked in black smoke charged at him, roaring.

”Tokiomi!!”

Inexplicably, Matou Gan Ye mistook Dill Multo for Tokiomi Tohsaka.
