Chapter 711: Chapter 21: Resentful Monk

At this moment, Su Xiao was facing away from the young monk, who extended his tongue to lick the blood that had slipped onto his lips. Upon seeing blood, a red glow flickered in the center of his pupils.

Without seeing any movement from the young monk, he had already vanished from where he stood, charging towards Su Xiao like a cannonball, moving quickly yet silently.

With a soft sound, five sharp claws sprang from the young monk’s fingertips, resembling eagle talons.

These five claws shimmered with a metallic light, straight towards the back of Su Xiao’s head. If caught by these claws, it would be difficult for Su Xiao to counterattack.

The claws approached silently, and the young monk’s mouth stretched wide; he seemed to already envision the scene of yanking out the enemy’s spine alive.

Su Xiao tilted his head slightly, Dragon Slash appeared in his hand, and a 50-strength energy shield materialized behind him.

Kaka!

The five claws directly pierced the energy shield. Although the shield was penetrated, it did not shatter.

Realizing the attack was ineffective, the young monk immediately sensed something was wrong, and the idea of devouring this human flesh alone vanished; he quickly wanted to shout.

The energy shield disappeared, and the glint of the blade flashed as Su Xiao turned and slashed.

The young monk immediately faced Dragon Slash with his claws, astonishingly keeping up with Su Xiao’s speed.

The blade chopped on the first claw, severing it instantly, followed by the second and third claws.

Ding.

Three claws were severed, causing the young monk to widen his eyes in pain.

”Intru...”

Before even getting out the word ”Intruders,” Su Xiao turned and punched. The punch was formidable and powerful, accompanied by the sound of the wind, hitting the young monk’s chin.

Su Xiao’s metal-armored knuckles struck the young monk’s jaw. With the force, the young monk’s jaw began to gradually dislocate.

If observed via X-ray, it would be seen that the teeth on the right side of the young monk’s jaw were the first to fall out, followed by the bone of the entire jaw shifting to the left.

Bam!

With the punch from Su Xiao, the young monk’s eyes rolled back, his eyeballs swirling in the sockets; this was absolutely not a reaction a normal human would have.

With a thud, the young monk fell meters away, his jaw shifted at a 90-degree angle from his skull, and his tongue was cut, bleeding profusely due to being hit by external force.

”Ugh~ Ugh~”

The young monk let out a few incomprehensible low growls. Realizing he couldn’t speak, he grabbed his jaw, trying to push it back to its original position.

Kaka, kaka...

After several twists, in addition to blood gushing from his mouth, the young monk’s jaw still hung limply down.

Taking this opportunity, Su Xiao used the Eye of the Apostle to scan the information on the young monk.

...

From the information, it could be seen that the creature in front is not a monk but a humanoid creature named Resentful Monk.

Moreover, from the various attributes, it’s evident this creature is not weak. More importantly, it can still evolve.

Not only that, but if this creature is similar to Liu Dong Temple’s little leader type, that would be fine. From the information, it seems there is no leader-type prefix, which means this might be just a ’little monster’ of Liu Dong Temple.

Thinking of this point, Su Xiao’s eyes twitched. Although he had long thought entering Liu Dong Temple wouldn’t be easy, he didn’t expect it to be so abnormal. A ’little monster’ like this would be at least a little boss level in other second-tier derivative worlds.

The Resentful Monk fiddled with his broken jaw for a while. Realizing he couldn’t restore it by force, he gave up and slowly got up.

With a soft sound, the pale skeleton burst through the flesh from within the Resentful Monk’s arm.

Kaka, kaka...

Moments later, the Resentful Monk’s arms were covered by pale skeletons, and where his hands used to be were sharp claws.

”Ugh~”

A low, unintelligible growl came from the Resentful Monk’s throat. It seemed that the hanging jaw and tongue got in the way, so he actually grasped them with his clawed hand and yanked hard.

With a squelch, blood spurted as the Resentful Monk tore off his own jaw and tongue, forcibly swallowing them.

An astonishing event unfolded as the Resentful Monk’s lost Life Value rapidly recovered, returning to 98% within seconds.

”This...”

Su Xiao had witnessed ghouls consuming human flesh to restore Life Value, and homunculi eating Philosophers’ Stones to recover Life Value, yet he had never seen someone recover Life Value by eating their own flesh and blood.

Though the world is vast and full of wonders, the scene before his eyes was too bizarre and horrifying.

Su Xiao looked towards Liu Dong Temple. At this time, he wasn’t close to the front gate of the temple, so it was quiet.

If Su Xiao guessed correctly, after infiltrating Liu Dong Temple, there should be many more such Resentful Monks, and likely stronger adversaries as well. Therefore, testing their strength now wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Su Xiao drew Dragon Slayer Slash across his front, narrowing his eyes slightly.

With a swoosh, Su Xiao disappeared from his original spot, reappearing in front of the Resentful Monk.

Su Xiao halted approximately a meter in front of the Resentful Monk, slashing sidewards with his long knife.

The Resentful Monk wasn’t an easy target; one hand blocked Su Xiao’s cleave while the other reached towards Su Xiao’s chest, straight for the heart.

The blade of Dragon Slash made contact with the Resentful Monk’s bone-covered arm, slicing through the outer bone layer like paper.

The long knife’s momentum didn’t diminish; after breaking through the exoskeleton, the Resentful Monk’s muscle and internal bone couldn’t withstand Dragon Slash either.

Swish~

An arm wrapped in exoskeleton flew up, and simultaneously, Su Xiao tilted his body sideways, avoiding the Resentful Monk’s claws.

The cleave concluded as Su Xiao brushed past the Resentful Monk, casually flicking Dragon Slayer. The blood on the blade spattered onto the dry grass.

The Resentful Monk stood motionless behind Su Xiao, one arm severed, the other poised in a clawing stance.

A line of blood gradually spread across the Resentful Monk’s gray robe, the blood trace slanting across the entire torso, extending from one shoulder to the opposite waist as the upper body began to slide sideways.

With a thud, the Resentful Monk’s upper half fell to the ground, and two seconds later, the lower half collapsed too.

Cut in two with a single stroke, clean and efficient. Such was the current sharpness of Dragon Slash, and throughout the process, the Resentful Monk hadn’t even touched the hem of Su Xiao’s clothes.

Though he had slain the Resentful Monk with a single blow, Su Xiao’s expression wasn’t good. Considering the Resentful Monk’s abilities weren’t weak at all, if a dozen appeared at the same time, Su Xiao could handle it. With dozens, breaking through wouldn’t be an issue; however, if there were over a hundred, the result would be uncertain.
