Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1447: Chapter 1446: Just a Bunch of Little Girls

Although there were many participants in this competition, the Sky Arena, as an existence built in a Demi-Plane space, naturally had been prepared for this long before. Soon, the participants were divided into several groups, each being teleported to different competition venues. In front of each of the Chiefs, including Fang Zheng, appeared magical projection screens, which not only they could see, but also could be projected to any city within the Magitech Nation.

In fact, the city squares within the Magitech Nation were now packed with crowds everywhere, giving the feeling similar to watching a World Cup qualifying match.

Perhaps the ordinary spectators cared about their own children or family members, but for the eight Chiefs, their focus was quite simple.

”Is this the Magical Girl that kid talked about?”

The Chief of the School of Illusions stroked his carefully groomed little mustache, curiously staring at the magical projection in front of him. In the screen, in one of the competition venues, Illya, dressed in a pink Magical Girl battle outfit, was holding her wand, nervously watching her surroundings, trembling like a small mouse surrounded by a group of cats.

”Doesn’t look impressive.”

”If you’ve seen what she can do, you wouldn’t say that.”

The Chief of Shaping Type rubbed his smooth head, then looked at the projection in front of him.

”These little girls may usually seem timid, but when it comes to real battles, they are excellent, outstanding warriors.”

”But the White Tower doesn’t need warriors.”

The Chief of the Enchantment School put down his gold-rimmed glasses and shook his head.

”I want to see what these Magical Girls are capable of.”

Upon saying this, the Chief of the Enchantment School seemed to have thought of something, turning his head respectfully towards the Chief of Necromancy Department sitting beside him.

”Colette, sir, you’ve been in the Heavenly Dao Palace for a while. May I ask what your evaluation of these Magical Girls is?”

”I don’t care, and I don’t know.”

Colette shook her head. She was telling the truth. Although she had stayed in the Heavenly Dao Palace for a long time, Colette hardly ever left the laboratory’s doors, so she had only heard about the Magical Girls in passing and hadn’t really seen them firsthand.

”Alright, enough with the chatter. You’re like a nagging woman, man up.”

The Chief Prophet Mage crossed his arms, the fourteen-pack abs clearly visible against his wizard robe.

”You’ll see soon enough. I have full confidence in that kid; there won’t be any problems! Just wait and see.”

”I hope so.”

The Chief of Spellcraft System coughed lightly, a sly radiance flashing through his somewhat clouded eyes.

”We also hope there won’t be any issues. After all... the one who needs to be convinced isn’t just us.”

As the Chief of Spellcraft System stated, the Magical Girls participating in this competition have more than just them to convince; they also have the other Mages of the White Tower. After all, establishing a new faction within the White Tower is no small affair and cannot be hidden. In fact, the participating Mages are already aware of it.

In their hearts, most of them also have questions like ”What exactly is this Magical Girl, to be listed alongside the Eight Major Factions?” which is quite normal, given that the White Tower’s Eight Major Factions have been established for hundreds or thousands of years and have stood the test of time, while the concept of ”Magical Girl” came out of nowhere, suddenly wanting to be listed alongside the Eight Factions...

For the Mages of these factions, it’s understandable that they might be somewhat resistant.

This is another reason why the Chief Council hopes Fang Zheng and others participate in the competition. As long as these Mages can experience firsthand and witness the power of Magical Girls, the resistance should wane.

Acceptance would also come more easily.

It is for this reason that the Magical Girls receive the most attention in each venue.

”Ugh... I feel very nervous...”

Gripping her Magic Wand tightly, Illya couldn’t help but curl up. She could clearly feel the gazes cast upon her from all directions, some curious, some disdainful, some mocking, some questioning, and some indignant and dissatisfied. For Illya, she wasn’t very good at facing these.

”Hmph, a bunch of losers.”

However, contrary to Illya, facing the gazes of other Mages, Little Hei remained calm and composed, even leisurely spinning the Scimitar in her hand.

Just a bunch of Mages, let them see how formidable we are!

Besides Illya and Little Hei, the reactions of the others were also varied. Little Sakura appeared somewhat nervous, while Nanoha looked serious. On the other side, Fate and Akemi Homura remained silent, not uttering a word.

”Ding---!”

Just then, with a clear ring, the competition officially began.

Almost instantly, dozens of Mages immediately aimed their attacks at the Magical Girls in the arena. Various attacks like Fireball, Magic Missile, and Stink Cloud Spell rained down on the Magical Girls.

Although due to the competition’s rules, there wouldn’t be deadly spells like Death Cloud Technique and Death Finger, and the Mages participating, at most, reached the Fifth Ring level—since at the Six Rings level, one could serve as a teacher at the White Tower, it would be embarrassing to compete in a student competition.

In that moment, the scene became chaotic.

However, the teachers and Chiefs present did not appear worried but watched the arena with interest—such a chaotic scene is a major taboo for Mages. Even if you have prepared first by casting Protection Magic on yourself, there’s no guarantee that someone won’t secretly hit you with a Dispel Magic.

Therefore, learning how to protect oneself and defeat the enemy in such a chaotic situation is also a key emphasis for Mages.

In such a situation, quite a few mages have devised ways to cope. Some mages directly summoned creatures as meat shields, others chose to teleport away from the battle zone, some cast a Luck Technique on themselves and hoped for the best, and others simply fought back.

Of course, most of the mages remained cautious, first casting protection magic on themselves, and then coping with any changes with stability.

As for the magical girls, their responses to this chaotic skirmish start were varied.

”Whoa!!”

Perhaps due to her overly timid demeanor before the match began, Illya immediately attracted a volley of fire as soon as it started. This startled her, and she hurriedly reached out and pulled a card from under her skirt.

”Rider, Fantasy Summon...!”

”Boom boom boom!!”

However, before Illya could finish speaking, her petite body was immediately engulfed by an explosion of magic missiles and fireball acid.

Could she have fallen just like that?

Seeing the smoke-filled competition arena before them, several mages smirked at the corners of their mouths.

Looks like magical girls aren’t that great after all.

However, before their smiles could disappear, a strange sound suddenly emerged.

”Moo—!”

Accompanied by a low bellow, a series of lightning bolts suddenly burst from the smoke, dissipating it. The mages were then surprised to see the little girl riding a chariot pulled by two oxen racing out from the smoke. Not only that, Illya’s clothing had changed from the previous pink magical girl outfit to a vivid red cloak, holding a dagger in one hand and the reins of the ox-chariot in the other.

Though she looked somewhat disheveled, it was clear that the little girl hadn’t suffered any severe injuries from the previous attack.

However...

”Hmph... I’m getting angry!”

After receiving a brutal barrage, Illya pouted, then raised the dagger in her hand. In the next moment, the mages saw a radiance erupt from within Illya’s body, quickly enveloping them all.

Confronted with the sudden intense light, many mages instinctively closed their eyes. However, when they reopened them, the scene before them left them astounded!

In front of them was no longer the previous competition arena, but an endless desert!

Not only that, but in this desert, before them, was an army numbering in the thousands!

”What is this?”

Watching this, the Chief of the Spellcraft System widened their eyes, and beside them, the Chief of the Enchantment School also amusingly polished their gold-rimmed spectacles.

”This seems to be some sort of enclosed space, fascinating... It looks like that little girl somehow utilized a confined space to draw those mages in, and those are her... summoned creatures? Such a summoning method is quite rare indeed.”

”Indeed.”

The Chief of the Spellcraft System also nodded at this point, widening their eyes to closely watch the scene before them.

”Looks like we’re in for a good show this time.”

”Attack!!!”

While the chiefs were enjoying the show, Illya had already swiftly swung the dagger forward, and immediately, countless soldiers roared furiously, charging at the mages ahead.

”This...”

Watching the scene unfold, the mages were dumbfounded.

Earlier, they thought it was unfair to bully someone so outnumbered, but now... who really outnumbers whom?!

What’s the point of fighting now; first, they’d better hope to leave here alive!!

”Protect!”

”Fireball Technique, Fireball Technique!”

”Raise the Firewall...!!”

”Quick, find a way to break this space!”

”Can’t we counter-summon?”

For these mages, it was the first time they encountered such a situation. Although Illya’s summoning only brought forth ordinary servants, their vast numbers were enough to make the mages break out in a cold sweat!

They desperately tried to resist, but unfortunately, facing the endless Royal Military Might, the resistance of a few dozen mages lasted only a moment before they were completely overwhelmed and vanished without a trace.
