Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1409: Chapter 1408: Hidden Secrets (It Still Hasn’t Rained Yet)

”Ugh... Ah!!!”

The wailing echoed in the cramped, dilapidated clinic, as a man lay on the bed, frantically struggling.

”Honey! Get a grip!!”

A woman dressed simply, her hair tied up, pressed down the struggling man on the bed firmly, shouting loudly. Beside her, the women in the black and white photographs hanging on the wall stared at her intently, emitting unnerving sharp laughter.

What is this place?

Fang Zheng observed the surroundings, judging from the decor and the equipment, it seemed to be from four or five decades ago.

”Ugh... Ah...”

The man’s voice grew quieter, his struggle weaker. Seeing this, the woman seemed even more panicked. She held down the man tightly, muttering something like ”Heavenly Flower, Earth Spirit, The Bodhisattva Guanyin bless... Spirit show forth,”

”Mom! What’s wrong with Dad?”

It was only then Fang Zheng noticed on the other side, a girl in a white dress, long hair down to her waist, seeming to be about ten years old, crouched in the corner, warily observing the scene.

”Yukiko, don’t come over!!”

The woman shouted loudly, continuing to chant a spell, but her efforts clearly had no effect. Before long, Fang Zheng saw the man on the hospital bed kick his legs and breathe his last.

”Ah... darling!!”

Watching her husband perish, the woman was obviously devastated, falling onto the man’s corpse, crying and screaming loudly. Meanwhile, the girl cautiously approached.

”Mom, why isn’t Dad speaking? What’s happened to him?”

However, the woman did not answer her daughter’s question, just gritted her teeth, murmuring softly.

”Men who marry into the Shizaki family die young, is this curse truly impossible to break? No, I don’t believe it, I will surely bring you back to me...”

As she spoke, it was as if the woman thought of something, she again looked at the girl beside her.

”Yukiko, I will definitely bring your father back!”

Hearing that name, Fang Zheng raised an eyebrow, again looking at the girl in white.

Shizaki Yukiko... is she the mastermind behind all this?

So now... am I inside her memories, or observing past timelines that have transpired?

Is the speaker now Shizaki Yukiko’s mother?

”I will definitely save you, darling...”

Looking at the man’s corpse on the hospital bed, the woman’s expression was obstinate.

”As long as there’s the Book of Shadows, with the Book of Shadows... the dead can be revived, and by then, you will be back!!”

Seeing this, Fang Zheng had roughly understood the situation, that woman was Shizaki Yukiko’s mother, Shizaki Yoshie, and the dead man on the bed was her husband. According to Shizaki Yoshie, their family had generations of Psionic Users, and every generation’s man marrying into the Shizaki family would die young. Despite Shizaki Yoshie’s utmost efforts to prevent all this, clearly, fate cannot be changed.

But Shizaki Yoshie did not intend to resign herself to this fate, she attempted to use a Book of Black Sorcery called the Book of Shadows kept by the Shizaki family to resurrect her husband.

”Heh heh.”

Watching this, Fang Zheng shrugged, kidding, resurrection of the dead? Are you joking with me? Up to now, Fang Zheng traveled through many worlds, and the only similar resurrection seen was the Resurrection Spell in the World of the Immortal Sword. But the Resurrection Spell itself, rather than true resurrection of the dead, it was more like a CPR-like spell, pulling the victim back from the brink of death.

Of course, the Resurrection Spell had many restrictions, for instance, it only applied to accidental deaths, if you died of old age or illness, clearly nobody would give you CPR, thus the Resurrection Spell would be of no use.

As for the man in front, his condition seemed evidently cursed, if there could be a curse removal or deactivation magic, perhaps it would work, but once a person dies... there would be no use.

Following this, Fang Zheng watched the woman take out a heavy black book, then began to do some eerie rituals and chanting spells with it. Ultimately, Shizaki Yoshie used the Book of Shadows to summon Nirvana—an ancient and evil spirit once sealed within the Book of Shadows, connected to Hell. Unsurprisingly, the ritual ultimately failed, and the Book of Shadows transformed into Nirvana, initiating chaos.

”No!!”

Watching the man’s body disappear into the dark mist, Yoshie screamed out in loss, painfully curling into a ball, loudly sobbing. Simultaneously, the dark mist seemingly possessed life, rushing towards Yoshie, enveloping her.

”Ah... Ah...”

At this moment Yoshie also felt deep despair, she abandoned struggling, looking blankly at everything.

”Failed, the Book of Shadows is fake, the resurrection within is fake, what meaning is there for me to live...”

”Mom!!”

However, just then Fang Zheng saw Shizaki Yukiko suddenly push open the door and rush in, witnessing this scene, she shouted loudly.

”Don’t... harm my mom!!!”

Alongside the shouting, azure spiritual light emerged and exploded from Shizaki Yukiko, then Shizaki Yukiko opened her mouth, inhaling deeply.

”Hoo--------!!”

In the next moment, the entire black mist seemed to be sucked away like a vacuum cleaner, directly swallowed into Shizaki Yukiko’s body.

”Ugh...”

The Shizaki Sachiko who swallowed the black fog was visibly uncomfortable, painfully covering her mouth as she staggered toward her mother.

”Mom, don’t die... don’t die...”

”Yukiko... my child, my child ahhhhh....!!”

Watching Yukiko crying and rushing towards her, Shizaki Yoshie also hugged her daughter, bursting into tears.

Then, the scene shifted again.

Under dim lights, Shizaki Yoshie was writing in her diary.

”...The records in the Book of Shadows are completely unverified, with no evidence proving that anything written in it is useful. My daughter Yukiko devoured Nirvana, using her powerful spiritual energy to seal it. But I’m worried, once Yukiko passes away, the Nirvana inside her... what will it become...”

Nirvana...

Fang Zheng frowned again upon hearing this. He’s increasingly understanding why Kannoyuki would say Yukiko is different from them. From what he’s seen now, Shizaki Sachiko was an extremely powerful psionic user while alive, and she used her body to seal Nirvana... although Fang Zheng still hasn’t figured out what this thing is, from the bits and pieces Yoshie mentioned, it seems to be some powerful entity connected to Hell.

No wonder Yukiko had such immense power after her death, even creating Tenjin Elementary with a taste of Hell; Yukiko actually sealed Hell’s entrance within her body...

After this, the scene changed again.

Shizaki Yoshie seemed to have abandoned resurrecting her husband; she brought Yukiko to Tenjin Elementary, where Yukiko attended classes and Shizaki Yoshie worked as a teacher. It all seems perfect, if things continued this way, it would only be a happy and peaceful life.

However, this was not the case.

”Please don’t do this... Principal... ah...!!”

After school one day, Shizaki Yoshie was attacked by the principal, and in the process of escaping the principal, Shizaki Yoshie accidentally fell down the stairs, breaking her neck and dying.

Yet this incident was witnessed by Yukiko, who came to pick up her mom.

So the principal decided to do away with, strangling Shizaki Sachiko to death and then burying her. As for Shizaki Yoshie, he claimed it was an accident death externally.

But it didn’t end there. After killing Shizaki Sachiko, the principal was tortured by Grudge Spirits every night. Angrily, he dug up Shizaki Sachiko’s burial site, cut out her tongue, and sliced open her corpse to vent his rage.

However, it was all futile.

Twenty years later, Shizaki Sachiko’s Grudge Spirit reappeared, manipulating the principal’s son to kidnap and kill three people: Kannoyuki, Tsujitokiko, and Yoshizawa Ryo; the principal’s son then committed suicide, and the principal jumped off a building.

After that, Tenjin Elementary... became a true Hell.

”Hmm...”

Fang Zheng opened his eyes to see a dilapidated ceiling.

”Brother?”

Sora was lying beside Fang Zheng, quietly watching him with slightly flushed cheeks.

”I just... had a very strange dream.”

”Me too; that should be the reason for all of this...”

Through the previous dream, Fang Zheng finally figured out the reason for Tenjin Elementary’s existence: Shizaki Sachiko had Nirvana sealed within her, but was accidentally killed by the principal. Shizaki Sachiko already possessed strong spiritual power, coupled with her death filled with wrath, naturally becoming a Grudge Spirit to avenge the principal. Moreover, she used the Nirvana sealed within her to create a brand new Hell—Tenjin Elementary.

So, as they say, ”Lust is a sharp blade.”

The chief made too many sins, leading to the deaths of many people, and now he’s stuck in that tragic cycle—everyone trapped in Tenjin Elementary repeatedly experiences their death process. So many years have passed, who knows if the principal jumping off a building has reached a Guinness World Record number.

Would Guinness really accept a record like ”repeated suicide jumps XX times”?

”Let’s get up.”

Fang Zheng patted Sora’s head and sat up.

”Get dressed; we need to leave this place; it’s not suitable for lingering.”

”Hmm...”

Sora nodded, wanting to stay close to Fang Zheng, but the environment wasn’t suitable for coziness. Plus, thanks to Fang Zheng’s ”hands-on guidance,” Sora somewhat learned to control her blood’s power, finally retracting her horns and tail, which relaxed her quite a bit.

”What should we do next, Brother?”

”Let’s find the last survivor; there should be another person trapped here.”

At this point, Fang Zheng finally remembered Satoshi Mochida... but to him, it didn’t matter; he’s just a passerby, and a moment of comfort is worth a thousand gold; naturally, his sister is more important than a passerby.

Now Fang Zheng plans to search with Sora once more; finding him would be great, if not, that’s that...

As for Shizaki Sachiko...

Thinking about this, Fang Zheng furrowed his brows.

He now understands why when he destroyed Tenjin Elementary, the system warned of an attack on the world core. Tenjin Elementary is a reproduction of a part of this world’s Hell; if Fang Zheng burns down Tenjin Elementary, it equals setting this world’s Hell on fire... chaos ensures.

And now it seems the solution to this trouble... rests on Shizaki Sachiko.
