Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1446: Chapter 1445: Reward

”Oh, Mary, my dear Mary!”

As soon as Mary entered the room, she was greeted by the Transmutation Chief, who charged at her like a madman, lunging towards her... abdomen.

”Let me see, how many months has it been?”

”Please have some respect, Mentor!”

Facing the Transmutation Chief lunging at her, Mary did not hesitate to punch him directly in the face, knocking him to the ground.

”How many months for what?”

”The child!”

Rubbing his face, the Transmutation Chief got back up, staring at Mary with a solemn expression.

”So how is it? Is the little one enjoying themselves too much to leave? No worries, you know I’m just like your father. Come on, you don’t need to hide this from me. Tell me, how long until I can hold my grandchild?”

Saying this, the Transmutation Chief took a close look at Mary, then his expression changed slightly.

”What? Didn’t get pregnant? Is it you or him?”

”You can try saying that again in front of Lord Fang Zheng, and I’ll help you collect your body.”

Mary silently stared at her Chief, then pulled a stick from behind her back.

She had been using this stick for several years, and it was well-suited for beating.

”Or shall I just bury you right here now?”

”Uh........”

Seeing the stick in Mary’s hand, the Transmutation Chief drew in a breath of cold air, then quickly returned to his seat at the table.

”So, you and that kid haven’t made any progress?”

”Lord Fang Zheng is not like you.”

Mary coldly stared at her mentor.

”Everything we did at the Heavenly Dao Palace, I reported to you faithfully!”

”Ah, I’m just being considerate, you know?......”

He said, rubbing his hands.

”But to be honest, I was a little excited at first too.......”

”.............”

Facing her mentor’s words, Mary didn’t reply. She just gripped the stick with both hands, raising it high.

Then swung it down, aiming directly at the Transmutation Chief’s head.

Meanwhile, Fang Zheng also arrived at the Sky Arena with a few little girls.

”It’s been a long time since I’ve been here.”

Looking at the Sky Arena before him, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but recall the time he used to grind ranks on the ladder. Unfortunately, back then, he only reached the top hundred. After all, Fang Zheng was just an ordinary Mage at the time, and even with the help of the system and Paladin skills, there were still plenty of geniuses in the White Tower. So when Fang Zheng realized he couldn’t progress further, he stopped.

Previously, he was the one participating in the competitions, but over a year later, he had become a spectator.

”Alright, it’s up to you now.”

Bringing the girls to the competition site, Fang Zheng nodded to them and said, Mary had already explained the detailed rules on the way here. The competition started with an individual match followed by a team match. The former tested the Mage’s individual spellcasting abilities, while the latter assessed the Mage’s teamwork skills.

Although Mages are often loners, the White Tower emphasizes all-around development in morality, intelligence, physique, art, and labor. Whether you wish to be a beloved group member or a lone wolf after you graduate is your business, but while you are studying at the White Tower, you must follow its rules.

The team match, in essence, is a contest between the eight factions of the White Tower. Now with the addition of Fang Zheng’s Magical Girl faction, it becomes a contest between nine factions.

But the individual match is even more intense. Unlike Fang Zheng’s time, where it was a one-on-one match, they now put dozens of Mages in the same competition arena, and the last one standing automatically advances to the next round. Winning conditions include knocking all opponents unconscious, blasting them out of the arena, or voluntary surrender.

Of course, malicious harm and death are prohibited.

This rule isn’t very friendly to most Mages. The last thing Mages want is a chaotic group fight. However, the White Tower clearly doesn’t need rigid thinkers. If you are strong enough, you can easily escape and win, no matter how many people there are, and this is what shows a Mage’s true abilities.

If you collapse when things get crowded, you should just go back home and farm.

Don’t claim to be from the White Tower afterward.

This is the White Tower’s confidence as the top spellcaster academy on the continent.

”Don’t worry, leave it to us, big brother.”

Little Hei patted her chest with pride, then her eyes rolled.

”So, big brother, if we win, is there any reward?”

”Reward?”

”Yeah, if big brother brought us here to fight, there should be a reward, right? What do you guys think?”

As she spoke, Little Hei glanced at the others.

This time, Fang Zheng brought six Magical Girls to participate, in addition to Little Hei, the others were Illya, Little Sakura, Akemi Homura, Nanoha, and Fate.

But compared to Little Hei, the other five were obviously much more well-behaved. To them, it didn’t really matter if there was a reward or not.

However, Little Hei wouldn’t let this opportunity pass.

”How about this, big brother, if any of us gets first place, you’ll grant her a wish, how about it?”

Little Hei didn’t give the other girls a chance to speak, she directly giggled and voiced her opinion.

Clearly, she had been planning this for a long time.

”...Yeah, no problem.”

Fang Zheng naturally knew what kind of mischievous idea Little Hei had, but he didn’t care. After all, except for Little Hei who always had silly thoughts, the other little girls were still quite innocent and couldn’t ask for anything too outrageous. Besides, such a reward was reasonable enough,

”Hehe.”

Seeing Fang Zheng nod in agreement, Little Hei grinned cheekily and raised her hand.

”Pinky swear.”

”Alright, pinky swear.”

Looking at Little Hei in front of him, Fang Zheng had no choice but to extend his hand and give her a high-five, considering the reward settled.

”So, do your best.”

”Master, we will definitely work hard.”

At this moment, Little Sakura also raised her small fist, clenched it tightly, and speaking up, while Nanoha next to her also nodded.

”Me too!”

”And me...”

Fate, a bit shy, also spoke up hurriedly, with Akemi Homura remaining silent and just nodding quietly.

”I believe you will do great.”

Looking at the little girls in front of him, Fang Zheng smiled slightly, then turned around and left, after which he ascended on the Silver Disk to the highest spot reserved specifically for himself.

”Ah, Your Excellency Fang Zheng, hello hello.”

Sitting next to Fang Zheng was the Chief of Transmutation. Upon seeing Fang Zheng arrive with Nymph, he quickly turned with a cheerful greeting towards Fang Zheng.

”Hello.”

Staring at the Transmutation Chief, Fang Zheng paused for a moment before nodding, but soon, he curiously and perplexedly observed the bruises on the Chief’s face, and asked.

”What happened to your face...?”

”I fell, took a tumble, hahaha.”

Touching his bruised and swollen face, the Transmutation Chief laughed heartily as if he didn’t mind at all.

”That’s why you should be careful when you’re my age, I can’t move as spryly as young folks like Your Excellency Fang Zheng. Well, you see, even stairs can make me fall like this...”

”Hmm...”

Fang Zheng wasn’t blind, he could tell at a glance that these bruises on the Transmutation Chief’s face weren’t from a fall but from someone giving him a beating. However, since he wasn’t familiar with the Chief, it didn’t seem right to say much, so he just nodded before taking a seat nearby.

But to Fang Zheng’s surprise, shortly after he sat down, the Transmutation Chief turned his bruised face towards him with a cheerful grin.

”By the way, Your Excellency Fang Zheng, what do you think of my Mary?”

”Miss Mary?”

Fang Zheng hesitated upon hearing the Transmutation Chief’s inquiry, then nodded.

”She’s a very capable Mage, outstanding indeed, and she’s very dedicated to teaching the children magic at the Heavenly Dao Palace...”

”True, true, she’s my most prized student. Since I’m getting old and don’t have any children, I always treat Mary like my daughter...”

”I see...”

Not knowing what else to say, Fang Zheng could only nod, while the Transmutation Chief chuckled and continued.

”So, my greatest wish now is to have a grandson, you see...”

”Cough cough.”

However, before the Transmutation Chief could finish, Mary interrupted with a cough.

”Master, I need to discuss something important with you, please follow me.”

As she spoke, Fang Zheng saw Mary rudely grab the Transmutation Chief’s collar, like picking up a chick, pulling him out of his seat, and quickly leaving the audience area.

What just happened?

Perplexed, Fang Zheng glanced at the Transmutation Chief being dragged away, then shifted his focus back to the arena.

At this moment, the competition was about to start.

With a series of magic radiance flashing, a competition field big enough to cover five or six plazas suddenly filled with the figures of hundreds of mages, including Nanoha.

”Is it that girl?”

”Is she the magical girl?”

Looking at Nanoha dressed in white combat attire and holding the Heart of the Rising Sun, the other mages turned their attention to her. After all, many mages had heard of the White Tower’s plan to establish a ninth faction, but many of them were unimpressed with the idea.

Especially after seeing this little girl, many of them were even more dismissive.

This little girl can compete, that so-called magical girl is just like this.

Just a little girl, we want to see what this magical girl is capable of, to stand on par with us!
