Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1419: Chapter 1418: No One Wants to Play Horror Games with You

”What’s going on?”

Walking into the school building, Fang Zheng looked at the deserted, personless corridor, stunned.

Could it be a holiday today? That doesn’t make sense. Why would the school doors be open if it’s a holiday?

”Brother, this is strange. There’s not a single student inside.”

At this moment, Sora also looked around curiously, glancing here and there. If one says no one is on campus because of the rain, that can be excused. But even the school building is empty—what could this mean?

”I sense an evil spiritual power.”

Suddenly, Yukiko popped out, looking around cautiously.

”Brother, sister, be careful. I can feel there’s a power here that is almost as strong as mine...”

”As strong as yours? That’s a bit tough though.”

Hearing Yukiko’s words, Fang Zheng furrowed his eyebrows. He knew through retrospection that Shizaki Yukiko was the genius psionic user in the Shizaki family, a talent that appears once in a hundred years. It was impossible for anyone else to possess her level of spiritual power.

Just look at Shizaki Yoshie’s case: an uncontrolled, runaway revival ceremony of a Book of Shadows that no amount of thought or effort could resolve, yet Yukiko managed to suppress it with a deep breath. It’s like the difference between a Metal Dragon and a Mage Apprentice!

Not to mention that in this low-magic world, finding someone with Yukiko’s level of spiritual power is as rare as a phoenix’s feather, and now two appear at once...

”I remember Tenjin Elementary should have completely collapsed by now.”

”Yes, after I left there, the core of Nirvana was burned by you, brother, and Tenjin Elementary has completely collapsed. All the things inside should have disappeared as well.”

”Then could it be that a powerful evil spirit like you escaped when Tenjin Elementary collapsed?”

”But I don’t recall any such evil spirit...”

Yukiko was also confused herself. As the behind-the-scenes boss of Tenjin Elementary, she’s highly knowledgeable about the number of grudge spirits there. If there was a grudge spirit as strong as her, Tenjin Elementary would have long been split into North and South, instead of allowing her to rule the Jianghu for eternity.

”No matter what’s going on, since you came here to play tricks, don’t blame me for being impolite.”

Fang Zheng clenched his fists, and soon the Primordial Fire reappeared. Sora, too, was looking eager—after all, during the last event at Tenjin Elementary, she stayed cooped up in the infirmary the entire time. Since recovering her normal life, Sora hadn’t had the time to use her ”superpower.”

But now...

”Yukiko, protect Sora.”

Fang Zheng pushed the eager Sora back.

Just kidding, though Sora has awakened the Dragon Veins now, making it hard for even five Great Han to approach her, and with the resistance capability of Dragon Blood, the evil spirits of this world probably couldn’t even scratch her. But... you still have to be cautious.

And so, Fang Zheng led Sora and Yukiko towards their classroom.

Even though the entire school building was pitch black and silent except for the sound of their footsteps, with the occasional howling wind and raindrops slapping against the glass, creating an opening scene worthy of a horror game. Normally, anyone sane would avoid coming in just to die.

But the question is... does opening an invincible lock and blood cheat count as being sane?

Let me tell you, I’ve seen all sorts of storms. You think you’re gonna scare me with some haunted school building? Not possible! Just treat it like a free ghost house tour!

”No one in the classroom either.”

Fang Zheng opened the classroom door, finding not even a shadow of a ghost. Yet, Sora seemed a bit nervous.

”Brother, I feel there’s someone behind me...”

”Nonsense, Yukiko’s right behind you.”

”Huh?”

Sora turned her head in surprise, only to see Yukiko in a red dress awkwardly floating behind her, waving her hand.

”............”

Honestly, under normal circumstances, suddenly seeing a little ghost girl in a red dress emerge from behind in an empty school building should scream-worthy, right?

But the problem is, this little ghost shares three meals and plays games with them and Sora daily...

How can you scream at that?

”Booom!!”

Suddenly, at that moment, a clap of thunder exploded, causing both Sora and Yukiko to scream and squat down, clutching their heads.

”............”

Watching the two squat down defensively, Fang Zheng was utterly speechless. Sora’s reaction was expected, but Yukiko—you’re an evil spirit, why are you afraid of thunder?

”Squeak—”

Suddenly, at that moment, the distant door opened, and then Fang Zheng and Sora saw several classmates staggering out. Seeing their pale faces and blank eyes, if their bodies were sprayed with more blood, they could instantly cameo in the neighboring Resident Evil!

But unlike zombies, these people were holding baseball bats or metal sticks, clearly not having good intentions.

”Hmm... roar...”

Is this the vibe of ”This hill is mine and this tree was planted by me”?

Without waiting for Fang Zheng to figure out what lines these people were saying, another group of students came out carrying sticks and blocked their way out.

Hey, is this ever going to end?

”Yukiko, protect Sora.”

At a glance, Fang Zheng saw black clouds around their foreheads, clearly indicating possession. If he still had Paladin skills or Mage techniques, casting a Holy Light flash or Solar Flame Burst would solve it instantly. Unfortunately, all he had was the Primordial Fire, and since these students were just manipulated, Fang Zheng couldn’t just burn them to death.

But can this really stump Fang Zheng?

Kyo Kusanagi can’t kill the Undead without setting them on fire? Was I just fighting for nothing in King of Fighters 2000?

Quickly use the nunchucks, hum huh ha hey, martial artists beware, the benevolent are invincible...

I da da da da da!

Facing the group of classmates rushing at him, Fang Zheng didn’t hesitate at all, knocking each one down with a single punch. But of course, those were the male classmates; when faced with female classmates, Fang Zheng would act with gentlemanly flair by giving a Poison Dragon Chest Grab or a Monkey Peach Grab... Anyway, they’re all possessed by Evil Spirits now and won’t remember anything about what happened when they come to.

And if it isn’t discovered, it hasn’t happened!

This is the iron rule of crime!

Fang Zheng has no qualms about it; he merely plans to grab a little something as a souvenir — just as he once ”confiscated” those photos of female students taken secretly by a teacher in the Resident Evil world. Fang Zheng clearly still takes them out for a glance now and then out of nostalgia.

After all, it counts as a tribute to his past battles.

As for here in this world, Fang Zheng wouldn’t go around secretly photographing other girls; after all, he is still a Paladin! Doing such things on purpose would make him despised!

But in the heat of battle accidentally touching once or twice, who would say anything?

After all, in such a crowded hallway filled with people, and without three heads and six arms, bumping into someone is just right...

”Crash!!”

Just when Fang Zheng finally opened a path forward, suddenly the classroom door beside him slammed open and the next moment, Fang Zheng saw the bright flash of a blade flickering by!

What the heck!

The sudden flash of the blade startled Fang Zheng. He quickly raised his right hand, and closed his fingers tightly together.

100% empty-handed blade catch!

Grabbing hold of the blade that nearly struck his neck, Fang Zheng breathed a sigh of relief. He looked up to see Gui Kotonoha standing there before him, tightly gripping the knife handle with both hands, staring coldly at Fang Zheng with lifeless eyes.

”Kotonoha!”

Seeing this scene, Sora was equally terrified, crying out in alarm. Following closely behind Fang Zheng, she wasn’t attacked and furthermore, with Yukiko by her side for protection, anyone attempting to harm Sora was promptly swatted away by Yukiko. As such, up to now, Sora remained very safe.

But seeing her friend draw a blade directly at Fang Zheng filled Sora with horror.

”.........”

Yet at this moment, Gui Kotonoha seemed hypnotized, utterly ignoring Sora’s voice. She clutched the blade in both hands, gazing coldly at Fang Zheng as though he had toyed with her, then discarded her upon hearing she was pregnant... though that hadn’t actually happened.

However, given Gui Kotonoha’s strength, she couldn’t possibly wrest the knife from Fang Zheng’s grasp. Realizing this, Gui Kotonoha decisively let go. She leapt backward, reaching into her bosom, and drew out a — Little Short Sword!

Goodness, is your house wholesale knives, young lady?

Seeing Gui Kotonoha wielding a Little Short Sword and thrusting at his heart, Fang Zheng stumbled hastily backward. Are you kidding? I haven’t dated you, I’m not your boyfriend, nor have I done unspeakable things with other girls on the rooftop behind your back... Alright, I confess I did it with Sora, but isn’t that supposed to be secretive?

In other words, what’s it to you?

While mentally griping, Fang Zheng dashed forward, chopping downwards with a hand-strike to knock the blade out of Gui Kotonoha’s grasp. Then smoothly cutting her at the nape, watching Gui Kotonoha tremble, then collapse down, Fang Zheng scooped her up and gently placed her against the wall...

Just by reflex! No untoward thoughts!

”Let’s go, Sora!”

”Go? Where?”

”The rooftop, usually troublemakers gather there!”

Though uncertain if Fang Zheng’s guess was correct, the trio had no choice but to forge ahead. On their way, they faced other disruptions, like Touma wielding an electronic keyboard, and Setsuna with a stun gun...

Say, Setsuna, where’d you get a stun gun?!

”Bang!!”

Fang Zheng pushed open the rooftop door and immediately spotted a figure under the cloudy skies — Saiin-ji Sekai standing there with her back to him, holding a gleaming kitchen knife.

”Ah... Haruno...”

Hearing the door open, Sekai turned around, her vacant eyes fixed on him.

”You finally came.”

”......Sekai?”

”Yes, it’s me.”

Speaking as such, Sekai smiled, raising the kitchen knife.

”I’ve been deeply troubled ever since I found out Haruno was leaving, but now I’m no longer troubled, because everything will be resolved if Haruno stays by my side forever.”

At this point, Sekai’s gaze shifted slowly to Sora.

”Ah, and Sora... you’ll stay too, we’ll be together... forever... don’t worry, I’ll take good care of you... huh huh huh... hahahaha...”

Facing the eerie Sekai, Sora recoiled several steps in fear. But suddenly, Yukina emerged silently from behind, grabbing hold of Sora.

”Wait, Yukina...?”

Realizing Yukina had caught her, Sora tried desperately to break free. However, she didn’t expect this usually gentle Yukina to now possess the grip of a vise, holding her firmly in place. Meanwhile, Sekai raised the kitchen knife, pitch-black mist began to rise around her.

”Everyone stay here forever, Haruno, let’s never part, okay...”
