Chapter 1435: Chapter 1434: Maybe We’re Overdoing It? (Sleeping in Feels So Good)

Looking at the news on the newspaper in front of her, Muse swallowed hard and glanced at the Little Earth Girl, Kobri, beside her. Coincidentally, Kobri seemed to have thought of the same thing and was clearly a bit uneasy.

But.........

This is just a game......

While comforting themselves, the two raised their heads and then......

”Where’s Hilfi?”

Looking around, Muse and Kobri were greatly surprised. It’s important to know that the current setup is that Muse and Kobri were standing in front of the food cart like customers planning to make a purchase, while Fire Spirit Salamand was next to them browsing her phone, and Wind Elemental Hilfi had crawled inside the food cart and handed them the newspaper from inside.

But in just the blink of an eye, the Hilfi that was supposed to be in front of them was gone!

”Hilfi?”

Muse immediately called out. She initially thought Hilfi might have hidden to scare them, but......

”Salamand, did you see Hilfi?”

”I didn’t......”

”Neither did I.......”

At this point, the other two realized their companion had vanished, and they began to panic and searched everywhere.

”Hey, Hilfi, where are you?”

”Stop playing, come out; this isn’t funny......”

Because Hilfi was always acting crazy and unpredictable, the three initially thought she was hiding to play with them. What they didn’t expect is after checking the entire food cart and surroundings, there was no trace of Hilfi!

”What do we do now?”

”Call, yes, call!!”

Salamand hurriedly picked up her phone and dialed Hilfi’s number. After a moment, the call connected.

Soon.........

”Riiiiing, riiiing.........”

The ringtone suddenly blared, startling the three girls, but they quickly got their nerves together.

”It’s Hilfi’s ringtone!”

Thinking this, everyone rushed to follow the ringtone. In their minds, finding the phone would be close to finding Hilfi. But after thoroughly searching the cart, they not only didn’t find Hilfi but also her phone.

Upon listening closely......

”.........Listen, doesn’t the ringtone sound like it’s coming from inside the cart?”

At that moment, Kobri suddenly seemed to realize something and turned pale.

”Could it be, could Hilfi have been... eaten by this cart?”

”H-how is that possible?”

Muse thought of this too—after all, the newspaper they found had written about the mysterious disappearance of food cart staff during working hours!

And now, Hilfi was also mysteriously gone! Although her phone rang, no one answered, and the sound... it really seemed to come from inside the cart?

With this thought, a bizarre idea floated in Muse’s mind.

Could it be this food cart is alive, and the previous worker and Hilfi didn’t vanish but were... eaten by it?

This thought floated in Muse’s mind and refused to go away. She instinctively raised her head to look at the cart in front of her.

The cart’s shape was like a grinning Joker, with the selling window in its mouth. Viewed from afar, it seemed like someone working from the Joker’s mouth. Normally, this design isn’t unusual elsewhere, but with that weird idea, looking at this scene makes Muse feel... this cart might actually be alive? And everyone working inside will be devoured?

”Riiiing, riiiing... ring...”

Perhaps coincidentally, at this moment, the ringtone suddenly interrupted, and Salamand tried to call again but couldn’t connect.

”W-what do we do now?”

”Should we head back?”

The three girls were anxious, while in the surveillance room, Latifa looked nervously at Fang Zheng.

”Lord Fang Zheng... is, is this really okay?”

No wonder Latifa questioned; although they watched through surveillance not focusing on the newspaper like the girls, they were even more terrified. Through the surveillance, Latifa and Chito Isuzu saw Hilfi handing the newspaper to Muse, curiously peering to take a look, seemingly not seeing clearly, then turning to leave the cart.

And then... she vanished!

The surveillance captured the moment Hilfi left the cart but didn’t show her actually stepping outside!

Hilfi disappeared just like that!!

”No need to worry.”

Fang Zheng naturally knew the reason. In fact, this was Yukiko’s greatest ace at Tenjin Elementary.

Secret Technique — Multiple Closed Spaces!

Yukiko once toyed with countless victims at Tenjin Elementary with this trick, making them unable to live or die. If not for Fang Zheng’s powerful ability capable of tearing through space, he might also have been tormented miserably.

And now, that’s exactly the case. In fact, when Hilfi left the dining car, Yukiko directly transported her to another ”playground” space. Hilfi is now also in a daze in that space, curious about where her friends went.

”What should we do now?”

The three elemental sprite girls studied for a while, unsure of what to do. They also thought Hilfi’s disappearance might be a special design or mechanism of this scene, but... what if it’s an accident?

Should they just return to the entrance and report to Her Royal Highness and the others?

”Hoo...!!”

Just as the three were hesitating, a sudden gust of wind blew past, making them squint involuntarily. However, when the three opened their eyes again, they found the image on the newspaper Mew was holding had completely changed!

The newspaper initially reported the disappearance of the dining car staff, but now it had turned into ”Beautiful Girl Mysteriously Disappears,” with Hilfi’s photo accompanying the victim’s story!

Seeing this, the three understood that Hilfi’s disappearance was also part of this game.

But they still didn’t know how Hilfi disappeared.

However, since the three were residents from the Magic Kingdom, even if they didn’t know, they could understand it was certainly some magical effect, so they stopped overthinking and started considering their next move.

”It seems if we want to rescue Hilfi, we must follow this map.”

After researching for a while, Mew also had some ideas.

”There are four events labeled ABCD on this map. Now Hilfi disappeared at the location of Event A, which links us to these cases. If we want to save Hilfi, we probably need to investigate the reason behind these events!”

As she spoke, Mew clenched her right hand.

”Let’s go!”

After making the decision, the four continued onward. But this time, they hadn’t walked far when suddenly, from the fog-covered park area, came the sound of children singing:

”Ten Indian boys went to dine; one choked his little self and then there were nine.”

”Nine Indian boys stayed up late; one overslept and then there were eight.”

”Eight Indian boys traveling to Devon; one said he’d stay, and then there were seven.”

”Seven Indian boys chopping sticks; one chopped himself in halves and then there were six.”

”Six Indian boys playing with a hive; a bee stung one and then there were five.”

”Five Indian boys going in for law; one got in Chancery and then there were four.”

”Four Indian boys going out to sea; a red herring swallowed one and then there were three.”

”Three Indian boys walking in the zoo; a big bear hugged one and then there were two.”

”Two Indian boys sitting in the sun; one got frizzled up and then there was one.”

”One Indian boy left all alone; he went and hanged himself and then there were none.”

The singing voice was very childish, crispy, and pleasant. But paired with these eerie lyrics, it made the remaining three’s hair stand on end. But what could they do? Apart from forcing themselves to move forward, they had no other choice!

Soon, the three arrived at the location of Event B — an outdoor resting area. Here, they also found a newspaper. But unlike before, this newspaper didn’t record a missing persons case but rather a terrifying kaidan that occurred in the park.

It’s said that every dusk, a child’s ghost would sing here, and everyone who heard that nursery rhyme disappeared...

Seeing this, Water Girl and Little Earth Girl were frightened and tightly hugged each other; they had just heard that nursery rhyme!

And now...

”Salamand!”

At this moment, Mew suddenly remembered the most antisocial Fire Girl and hurriedly called out to her.

Had she also disappeared?

However, fortunately, just as Mew’s voice fell, Salamand’s lazy voice came from behind her.

”What’s up? I’m just resting here for a bit, so sleepy...”

”Whew...”

Hearing Fire Girl’s reply, Mew also breathed a sigh of relief. Then she turned her head to glance and found Salamand sitting on the bench in the rest area behind her yawning, so Mew also turned back and continued researching the newspaper with Little Earth Girl.

”Looking at it now, the main task of this park is already very clear. This newspaper mentioned the kaidan, and the previous newspaper wrote about the mysterious disappearance of the dining car staff. It means that the staff likely listened to this nursery rhyme and then disappeared! So next, our target is this nursery rhyme!”

Saying this, Mew excitedly clenched her fists.

”Let’s go; the next part is the focus, Kobri, Salamand!”

”Yes.”

”...”

”Salamand?”

Not hearing the Fire Girl’s reply, Mew was startled at heart. She slowly turned her head and looked back.

Only to find the Fire Girl, who was originally sitting there, had vanished.

”Uh...”

Seeing this scene through the monitoring screen, Fang Zheng awkwardly scratched his head.

Did he play too much?
