Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 745: Chapter 744: The Second Sword Sprite to Appear

For ordinary people, waking up to find a strange beautiful girl by their side might lead to all sorts of thoughts. But for Fang Zheng... well, he really only had one question left: ”Who are you?”

After all, Fang Zheng had already experienced something like this once before.

”It seems I haven’t introduced myself yet.”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s question, the black-haired girl smiled slightly, stood up, gracefully lifted the hem of her dress, and curtsied to Fang Zheng.

”I am your Sword Sprite, Restia Ashudor. I apologize for causing you trouble before due to my immaturity. Please take good care of me, Master.”

”Immaturity?”

Startled by Restia’s apology, Fang Zheng blinked, and at that moment, he suddenly felt another soft body burst out from under the blankets and embrace him tightly.

”Restia failed to properly suppress the power from the ’Savior Demon King,’ causing Master to go berserk. Quite an incompetent Sword Sprite indeed.”

The silver-haired Sword Sprite—Ester, as always expressionless, wrapped her arms around Fang Zheng’s neck, looked sideways at Restia standing beside them. And faced with Ester’s remark, the smiling Restia’s brows twitched slightly. For some reason, Fang Zheng suddenly felt the air grow a bit more tense...

”Weren’t you the one who pushed the ’Savior Demon King’ onto me while I was fast asleep, Holy Sword Missy?”

”If you can’t even handle this much, then don’t stay by Master’s side, Dark Elf.”

At that moment, Ester stood up as well, fearlessly meeting Restia’s gaze.

”As a Dark Elf, to actually make a mistake in merging with an angel of similar nature, it really makes one wonder if you deserve to be by Master’s side.”

”Oh my?”

Hearing this, Restia’s eyebrows rose, and she looked at Ester with a triumphant smile.

”Could it be... you’re jealous?”

”......”

”That’s true, though. While I was asleep before, I vaguely remember that I am Master’s blade, having fought alongside him, clearing obstacles, and braving difficulties. But you...”

At this point, Restia gave Ester a meaningful look up and down.

”Seem to be nothing more than a salted fish that just sidelines and shouts ’666,’ don’t you think? The reputation of the Demon-Slaying Holy Sword might be in tears, huh?”

”...If that’s the case, let’s settle this here and now.”

Hearing Restia’s words, a hint of anger seemed to surface on Ester’s expression as well.

”Right here, let’s decide who is the most suitable Pact Spirit for Master!”

”I agree, Holy Sword Spirit. Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because you woke up before me!”

As she spoke, Restia raised her right hand.

”Come forth, Savior Demon King (Satan)!”

With Restia’s call, the next moment her body immediately underwent a transformation, and a black dress resembling funeral attire enveloped her figure. Above her head floated a pitch-black aura, akin to an angel’s halo.

Pitch-black and cold lightning emerged beside Restia, truly giving off an impression of a Demon Lord descending upon the world.

Confronting Restia’s challenge, Ester showed no fear and immediately summoned her own angel.

”Show yourself, Angel of Annihilation (Methratton)!”

The next moment, in front of Fang Zheng’s eyes, Ester’s body began to change. A pure white dress resembling a wedding gown appeared on Ester, and atop her head, a golden crown materialized.

It seemed that this was the Angelic Spirit Crystal formed by the fusion of the two Sword Sprites.

Facing this scene, any protagonist from a harem anime would probably panic and rush out to intervene, then stutter over the choice between ”Do you want me or her?” posed in a pincer attack by the two spirits, only to have the issue resolved by a beating from both sides.

But for Fang Zheng, well...

”I’m going to wash my face, call me if you win.”

Getting up, he yawned and staggered out of the bedroom. Just as he closed the door, a clamor of battle ensued from within... After all, the Mage’s Mansion was forged from magic, indestructible, so let them duke it out.

Completely ignoring the ”thud”, ”clang”, ”bang”, and ”boom” sounds coming from the bedroom, Fang Zheng washed up while casually opening the system. Sure enough, in his info tab, the previously name-only weapons now displayed much more detailed information.

[Noble Phantasm: Sword of Piercing Truth]

[Rank: S+]

[Effect: Can deal damage to enemies on contact (Absolute Destiny), summon Lightning of Death (Special Skill), Spirit Crystal bonus (Savior Demon King)]

[Noble Phantasm: Demon-Slaying Sword]

[Rank: S+]

[Effect: Can devour all curses (Absolute Destiny), Blade of Eternal Durability (Special Skill), Spirit Crystal bonus (Angel of Annihilation)]

According to the information on the Noble Phantasms, the main method of combat for these Angelic forms of the Sword Sprites involved manipulating feathers, which had four types of functions: wide-range Area of Effect attacks (AOE), high-speed flight and instantaneous movement, division into mini Floating Cannons, and launching powerful bombardments.

Of course, these powers could be used by the Sword Sprites on their own, or by Fang Zheng when wielding the weapons, meaning that aside from ’Ratziel’ and ’Unsealing Master,’ during combat, he could also make use of the Angelic Powers of ’Angel of Annihilation’ and ’Savior Demon King.’

That’s actually quite good.

After reading about his two Sword Sprites, Fang Zheng nodded in satisfaction. ’Angel of Annihilation’ and ’Savior Demon King’ could effectively compensate for the issue of large-scale AOE, and they were also very helpful for long-range attacks. Though he felt somewhat sorry for Restia, Fang Zheng had already decided to make Ester his primary long-range weapon... After all, Ester herself possessed the ability to devour curses and immunity to all magic. This meant that when Ester’s ’Angel of Annihilation’ was used in an attack, her strikes would also carry the ’Demon-Slaying’ attribute, which was perfect for dealing with those who relied on magic for an impenetrable defense.

After finishing up in the bathroom, Fang Zheng went straight to the dining room. There, served by an Invisible Servant, he began enjoying his breakfast. Of course, various sounds of ”thud”, ”clang”, ”bang” continued to echo throughout the Mage’s Mansion, but Fang Zheng didn’t even glance in their direction.

Through his many years of life, Fang Zheng had gained some understanding of women. In his eyes, the kind of male protagonist who would run over and plead ”Don’t fight, you need to get along” during a quarrel between two women in a harem anime was just stupidly naïve. This was especially true if he himself was at the center of the argument.

Every girl has her own characteristics, especially if they revolve around the same person; it’s normal for conflict to arise. If they’re willing to have a dispute in front of him, it means they don’t care much about it, or they are both confident that it won’t affect how they’re perceived over such trifles.

On the other hand, if he were to intervene, the girls might indeed pretend to reconcile on the surface, but deep down they could harbor thoughts like ”I’m only conceding because of XX, don’t get ahead of yourself,” leading to a façade of harmony in front of the main character, while behind his back, they engage in subtle rivalry like in ’Legend of Zhen Huan’... And when such hidden conflicts reach a breaking point, the ensuing explosion could be much harder to resolve than daily quarrels.

That’s why Fang Zheng never interfered whenever Tilia and Black Katie bickered. At most, Tilia would just verbally best Black Katie before getting hammered with a combo in return. Such interactions may seem explosive, yet they’re more harmonious than sneaky backstage machinations.

The same went for Restia and Ester. Since it wasn’t a matter of principle, Fang Zheng naturally couldn’t be bothered to meddle, letting them fight it out to their hearts’ content... After all, some girls’ friendships do bloom from battles, right?

When Fang Zheng finished his breakfast, the raucous sounds of battle also ended. Only then did he leisurely straighten his clothes before heading back to the bedroom and pushing the door open.

”Who won?”

”.........” freёweɓnovel_com

Looking at the two Sword Sprites on the ground, too exhausted to even speak, Fang Zheng was certain he had his answer.

The house always wins.
