Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 723: Chapter 722 This debt will be settled sooner or later!

”Demons?”

Hearing the Golden Dragon’s words, Fang Zheng raised his eyebrows, and the Golden Dragon Girl nodded vigorously in response.

”That’s right, and it’s of the fallen kind.”

The Golden Dragon huffed lightly and continued to speak.

”Although the bastard who targeted you had a well-crafted plan, I still unearthed some clues from the remaining traces. You remember the dagger you saw during the attack, right? Although it became a pile of junk afterward, through the aura attached to it, I found the Lord of the Third Layer of Hell, and through it, I found the bastard who was messing with this dagger... If I’m not mistaken, the one who acted against you this time should be Baemons the Evil Dragon, one of the Abyssal Lords.”

”Abyssal Lord? So... it’s The Fallen?”

At this point, Fang Zheng was also startled.

In the Main World, ”fallen” and ”evil” do not overlap like they do in many games or animations; instead, they are quite distinct. In the worldview of the Main World, evil does not necessarily denote fallenness. A Paladin could become a Black Knight, but as long as his actions remain orderly, he would not be considered fallen.

On the other hand, if a Paladin’s behavior is chaotic and disorderly, then regardless of whether he is inherently good-natured, he is indeed The Fallen.

Therefore, there is a peculiar phenomenon in the Main World where the Church can tolerate Devils, but will never let go of Demons. Devils might join forces with a Holy Knight, but would absolutely not associate with fools from the Twilight Legion.

However...

”Who is Baemons the Evil Dragon?”

Fang Zheng was certain he had never heard this name before.

”In the world of humans, this guy isn’t very famous, but among the Dragon Race, he is a headache-inducing figure. Extremely troublesome, extremely evil, and also extremely dangerous.”

The Golden Dragon Girl was clearly familiar with this and quickly informed Fang Zheng.

”Baemons the Evil Dragon is just a title we gave him; his True Name, as part of evil and chaos, has been sealed away. Any mention of his True Name could attract the attention of that evil dragon, and I certainly don’t want to be targeted by it here. He was once a Sage of the Silver Dragons but for some unknown reason, he betrayed the Order Faction, leading his followers into the twilight of chaos. Since then, he has caused our Metal Dragon race quite a bit of trouble... Ah, thinking about it now just makes me so angry!”

”Is this guy tough to deal with?”

Seeing the Golden Dragon Girl’s expression filled with reluctance to recall past events, Fang Zheng asked seriously, and the Golden Dragon Girl sighed.

”Extremely tricky. As you know, the hallmark of chaos is uncertainty, instability, and disorder. But the case with Baemons the Evil Dragon is even more peculiar. His plans are always meticulously crafted, causing us endless headaches. Yet, his goals and reasons are completely inscrutable. According to the records in our lineage, Baemons the Evil Dragon once used layers of machinations to successfully summon the Demon Legion to attack the Bronze Dragon race and nearly killed the leader of the Bronze Dragons. And his reason? It was simply because he wanted to try eating Bronze Dragon Meat to see what recipe would taste the best! Another time, he sent his elite Evil Dragon Legion to help a mortal destroy an Island Nation simply because they flattered him pleasingly during a summoning ritual! Ah... this guy is just a lunatic!”

As she spoke, the Golden Dragon Girl also reached out to grab her hair, and Fang Zheng’s expression grew somber. Indeed, this truly symbolized the Confusion Faction, and as the Golden Dragon Girl said, they were tricky. After all, if you couldn’t grasp the other party’s purpose, it was hard to respond.

But the objectives and reasons for the actions of the Confusion Faction are whimsical, possibly anything. Just as the Golden Dragon Girl said, to master the method of cooking Bronze Dragon Meat, the other side can devise a tight plan to capture them all. Because someone flattered him pleasingly, he could lend his elite troops to others to vent their frustration...

Their brains work differently from ordinary people, impossible to understand, they’re simply a bunch of lunatics.

”Castina is also pretty foolish. According to my investigation, it seems Baemons had one of his evil dragons disguise as a Lust Demon to get close to Castina and used his insignificant desire for revenge to launch the attack. Poor Castina must have thought he could secure a place in Hell once things were settled; now it looks like he’s probably run off to the Abyss to become a maggot.”

As the Golden Dragon spoke, she looked at Fang Zheng.

”Oh, right, I forgot to remind you. Baemons is a god of evil dragons, wielding the powers of nightmares and illusions. Although I don’t know what has happened to you recently, I can feel that your aura has grown stronger than it was before. But that’s still far from enough; Baemons is a True God, and you now... have not even touched the fringe of being a Demigod. If you want to settle scores with it, then consider this problem first.”

”Of course, I understand that guy is no easy target.”

Fang Zheng certainly would not disregard the Golden Dragon’s warning. He knew his own situation; his current strength had basically reached the Transcendent rank, but... this was only the pinnacle of mortality within the Main World plane. Facing an enemy of True God level, Fang Zheng was still too lacking. He remembered the attack he suffered when he time-traveled; although his system was restrained by Chaos Power at the time, he was using the Soulstone of the Star Forging Dragon King, and still, the other party made a successful hit. Thinking back now, that must have been Baemons the Evil Dragon himself.

If the power from that time was a standard, then Baemons the Evil Dragon himself might even be on par with the Star Forging Dragon King... or perhaps even slightly superior.

And indeed, the powers of illusion and nightmares are also a headache.

However, Fang Zheng wasn’t worried that Baemons the Evil Dragon would come looking for trouble with him anytime soon. He knew that he wasn’t someone to be trifled with. Although the Evil Dragon’s sneak attack was successful, he had retaliated fiercely with a Rapid Star River. Based on the intelligence Fang Zheng had gathered from the Soulstone, the Evil Dragon must have been seriously injured by that strike and wouldn’t be able to seek revenge for some time.

Having identified his enemy, Fang Zheng felt somewhat calmer, but to him, the Evil Dragon wasn’t what mattered most, but rather...

”Do you know why it came after me?”

That’s right, this was what Fang Zheng was concerned about. He believed that he had never met or clashed with any Evil Dragon. There’s always a cause for an effect; even though the Evil Dragon was chaotic, it wouldn’t just pick a random number from a phone book to find someone to hassle.

If that was really the case, then Fang Zheng would have no choice but to surrender.

”I don’t have any firm evidence at present, but I do have a clear lead.”

While speaking, the Golden Dragon Girl extended one finger with a mischievous smile.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, you might not know this, but three days after you were attacked, the Kingdom of Flame along with the Land of Wealth issued a demarche to our Kingdom of the Holy Church, demanding we halt the supply of Spirit Crystals to the Heavenly Dao Palace.”

”Oh?”

Fang Zheng narrowed his eyes, looking at the girl in front of him.

”And their reason?”

”Their stated reason is that the fertilizer invented by the Heavenly Dao Palace has caused irreparable damage to the soil of the Kingdom of Flame, and, therefore, they are demanding that someone from the Heavenly Dao Palace personally travels to the Kingdom of Flame to investigate and explain.”

”This really is a historical issue.”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng suddenly remembered there was such a matter... He had almost forgotten about it. Were the people of the Kingdom of Flame intent on clinging to it without letting go?

”What if I refuse?”

”Then the Kingdom of Flame and the Land of Wealth will cut off all commercial dealings with the Heavenly Dao Palace... and they will sanction those families and trade associations that do business with the Heavenly Dao Palace.”

”Do they have the clout for that?”

”Of course, setting aside the Kingdom of Flame for a moment, the trade routes, channels, and pricing... all in all, the merchants of the Land of Wealth control about two-thirds of the goods in this world. If they wish, they can effortlessly make cheap items expensive and instantly render wealthy families worthless. For the time being, their threat is quite influential.”

”Hmph, so they came to threaten me? Or seized such a rare opportunity...”

Fang Zheng’s expression darkened. He stretched out a finger and gently tapped on the tabletop. Although it seemed like a coincidence, what if it wasn’t? What if the Kingdom of Flame knew about his assassination attempt and decided to kick him while he was down? If that were the case, things would be interesting. Fang Zheng had nothing to do with the Evil Dragon, but with the Kingdom of Flame... well, there was a score to settle.

”By the way... would it be a problem for you if the Kingdom of Flame were to disappear from this world?”

”It would be a great problem.”

The Golden Dragon Girl glared at Fang Zheng.

”Don’t think I don’t know what you’re planning. To tell you the truth, more than once I’ve wanted to swallow those stench-ridden envoys of the Kingdom of Flame whole, just to teach them proper etiquette for facing a Golden Dragon. But it’s not possible. As foolish, barbaric, and idiotic as the people of the Kingdom of Flame are, their existence stabilizes the world’s order. If the Kingdom of Flame were truly destroyed by you, then the powers of chaos might invade this world once again...”

”Alright, then I’ll consider it,”

Fang Zheng shrugged his shoulders, then continued speaking.

”But no matter what, I will reclaim this debt sooner or later.”

Perhaps, it was time to let the Zerg make a splash in the Main World.
