Chapter 730: Chapter 729: The Ghost-Catching Game at the Guardian’s Office (Part 2)

Couldn’t find it...

Standing on a tree branch, Atalanta scanned her surroundings. As an excellent hunter, she certainly knew how to track her prey. But now, it seemed this ”prey” was more troublesome than she had imagined.

Nevertheless, as a hunter, Atalanta had enough patience—all she needed was to spot her target, then she would surely... There! Found it!

Just then, Atalanta suddenly saw a figure lazily coming around the corner from the other side of the Guardian’s Office. It was a girl with black hair down to her waist, dressed in a dark blue sailor suit. With her head bowed and her long bangs covering her eyes, she appeared somewhat listless, like a vampire that had been overexposed to the sun. The Fleet Girl was clasping a book in her arms, walking unsteadily forward, and pinned on her chest was a nameplate clearly displaying her number—1408.

It was her!

Spotting the Fleet Girl, Atalanta’s eyes lit up; she leaped and dashed toward the Fleet Girl.

”Excuse me, wait a moment! I need to talk to you...!”

Yelling, Atalanta sprang out from the woods, and according to her prediction, the next moment she should have landed right in front of the other, blocking her path.

But just then, a sudden breeze blew, causing Atalanta to unconsciously squint. But when she opened her eyes and landed, she was shocked to find that the Fleet Girl, who should’ve been right in front of her, had vanished without a trace?

How could this be?

Atalanta widened her eyes, staring at the empty corridor in front of her. She was confident in her senses— even if the target wanted to evade her, she should’ve been able to detect the movements. But just now, she had only momentarily shifted her attention, less than a fraction, and the target had just disappeared? As if she had never been there?

Could this Fleet Girl be an ASSASSIN with the ability for Breath Concealment?

”Thump... thump...”

Just then, Atalanta’s ears twitched, and she swiftly caught the sound of footsteps from another corridor on the second floor. Yes, those were definitely the footsteps of that Fleet Girl! Atalanta was sure!

Got you now!

At that moment Atalanta’s nerves tensed, and she stepped on a nearby pillar, flipping 180 degrees in the air to leap up to the second-floor window. As expected, she soon saw the Fleet Girl previously holding a book and walking unsteadily toward the end of the corridor.

”Hey, wait for me, I have something important!”

Although Atalanta called out in time, the Fleet Girl, as if she hadn’t heard her at all, turned straight around and walked to the other side of the corridor. Seeing this, Atalanta gritted her teeth, her body shooting forward like an arrow from a bow, rushing to the corner at the end of the corridor in three steps.

”I told you to wait... Where is she?”

Atalanta looked around the deserted corridor and the vending machine placed at its end, not knowing what to say. Next to the vending machine, on the washbasin, she saw a cup of steaming milk tea...

There’s not even a window or door nearby, where did that Fleet Girl run off to?

While Atalanta was puzzled over this issue, Fang Zheng and others were troubled by another problem.

”Where have we run off to?”

Looking at the large hall made entirely of metal and the corridors stretching in all directions, Fang Zheng didn’t know what to say. He had thought it was a normal residence. But once inside, Fang Zheng found the place terrifyingly large. And it had everything... for example...

”Well, I’m sure we took a wrong turn.” fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

Looking at the ”Morgue” sign under the pale light, Fang Zheng apologized, ”Sorry for the disturbance, we’ll be leaving.”

Meanwhile, Natsuse and Midori were shivering behind Fang Zheng.

”This is why both Iona and I didn’t want to come find her...”

Musashi sighed helplessly.

”Her warship body is just too big, and unlike other warships, her appearances are completely irregular. Unless you go looking for her, there’s no way to find her...”

”Wait, you’re saying this is her warship body?”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng suddenly realized... this Mind Model was actually living inside her own body?

Hmm? Think about it, that wasn’t really strange.

But Iona and Musashi’s reactions were not surprising. Although logically, the physical bodies of Fleet Girls’ warships were large, like the Unicorn’s aircraft carrier. However, the interior of the Warship of Sea Mist was different from ordinary warships. Fleet Girls usually crammed their warships with all sorts of weapons and ammo reserves.

In fact, in the warships Fang Zheng had seen, many spaces that should have been storage or dining areas, accommodations for personnel, were filled with powerful reaction weapons and power cores by the Fleet Girls, which was why the Warship of Sea Mist had such scientifically impossible combat capabilities.

After all, for most Fleet Girls, the only personal space they probably need is the commander tower along with the captain’s living room; stuffing weapons everywhere else wouldn’t be a problem.

Thus, finding these Fleet Girls was easy, one could simply go directly to the commander tower or captain’s room.

But this ship... or perhaps, is it worthy of being a logistics ship? Not only does it have laboratories, hospitals, treatment facilities, but even a morgue... Well, although Fang Zheng admitted that being prepared for the worst was always good, looking at this morgue still made him a bit uncomfortable.

”Doesn’t she have any places she frequents?”

”............”

”Okay, I know you aren’t familiar with her.”

Watching Musashi and Iona shaking their heads in unison, Fang Zheng sighed in resignation; these two only knew of that Fleet Girl’s number, how could they possibly know her interests?

”——!———!!”

Just as Fang Zheng planned to continue searching, suddenly, the lights above him began to flicker slightly, as if the surrounding light sources were malfunctioning.

Midori turned around, and to her surprise, just as the lights flickered on and off, suddenly, at the far end of the corridor, a figure abruptly appeared!

”Brother Zheng, Brother Zheng! There’s someone there!”

While screaming, Midori clutched tightly at Fang Zheng’s arm. Hearing Midori’s shout, Fang Zheng also turned his head in the direction she pointed... but there was no one there.

”There’s no one?”

”But, but I really saw someone standing there just now...”

Midori stared tremulously at the end of the corridor, unsure of what to say. It was Musashi and Iona, however, who breathed a sigh of relief, then Musashi opened his mouth and shouted loudly.

”1408! Come out quickly! The Commander has urgent matters for you!”

”.........What matters?”

Suddenly, just as Musashi’s words fell, a voice suddenly came from behind everyone, startling Fang Zheng to jump backward, while Natsuse and Midori immediately clung to Fang Zheng’s body, like two frightened kittens, refusing to let go.

Only then did everyone realize, unknowingly, a Fleet Girl with black hair down to her waist, dressed in a dark blue sailor uniform, had appeared behind them. Her head was lowered, her entire demeanor gloomily somber, resembling a ghost from a horror movie... However, looking at her nameplate on her chest, it indeed read 1408...

”Phew... 1408, you’ve finally appeared.”

At this point, Musashi and Iona also sighed, and then Musashi spoke.

”The Commander has a mission for you, do you think you can do it?”

”......What matters?”

tilted her head, her voice as gloomy as her appearance... Yes, just like coming out of the morgue.

”To put it simply......”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng explained to 1408 the methods they had thought up during a meeting earlier.

”Musashi said you can do it, are you able to seal off this specific area?”

”......No problem.”

But contrary to Fang Zheng’s expectations, the other party only pondered for a moment and then nodded. It seemed that, to her, it really wasn’t a problem.

Whether it was true or not, at this moment, Fang Zheng could only treat the situation as critical and try it out.

But speaking of which......

”I still don’t know your name, 1408 is your number, don’t you have a name for your ship?”

”Ah... right......”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s question, the girl in front of him seemed to suddenly realize, as she nodded and slowly extended her right hand, feebly saluting Fang Zheng.

”USG Planet Disintegration Ship——Stone Village reporting to you, nice to meet you, Commander.....”
