Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 724: Chapter 723: It’s Necessary to Establish a Sub-base

No matter what, after having communicated with the Golden Dragon Girl, Fang Zheng finally understood the current situation in the Main World.

Generally speaking, the Main World was still relatively stable. Although Fang Zheng had been away for a long time, due to the time difference between planes, only about five months had passed in the Main World. So far, there had not been any new crisis akin to the one at the Northern Fortress, and peace was still largely maintained.

As for the Spirit Crystal ban imposed on the Heavenly Dao Palace, it didn’t have a significant impact in the short term. After all, various countries had already taken out most of their Spirit Crystal reserves previously, and now they simply lacked the resources to trade with the Heavenly Dao Palace again. So for now, the only trouble for Fang Zheng was the plan he had previously agreed upon with Bishop Carl to mine Spirit Crystals in the Northlands, which was likely to be shelved.

Of course, to say it was annoying... Fang Zheng was definitely annoyed, and the Golden Dragon Girl was just as displeased with the Kingdom of Flame.

Although they were both servants of order, the Kingdom of Flame behaved differently from the Kingdom of the Holy Church and the Magitech Nation. It professed a belief in order but, according to the Golden Dragon Girl, more often than not the Kingdom of Flame used order as a ”hostage”.

”Those barbarians know we need them to maintain order, that’s why they are so arrogant. The attitude of the Sanctuary is as long as order is maintained, everything else is a minor issue... Although it’s true that the nature of humans is to be shortsightedly foolish and seek immediate peace, I just can’t stand it! But what can I do? Should I really launch a military conquest? Not to mention that there’s an ocean separating both sides, if a war really breaks out, the Kingdom of Flame will surely fall into chaos, and then the twilight of chaos will inevitably take advantage of it!”

At this point, the Golden Dragon Girl also showed a face full of displeasure.

”And those guys, knowing this, therefore dare to be so demanding and do whatever they want, hmph... Foolish mortals!!”

After complaining extensively, the Golden Dragon Girl then took her leave. Since her task was already completed, the Pope should reopen her lair once she returned... otherwise a Golden Dragon sleeping on the streets would be too tragic.

Although in front of Fang Zheng, the Golden Dragon Girl mostly vented and complained, Fang Zheng also got a lot of useful information... First and foremost, the one who had targeted him before was indeed Baemons the Abyssal Lord. Baemons had struck Fang Zheng, and Fang Zheng had beaten him half to death. This grudge was now firmly established, and even if Fang Zheng didn’t seek revenge, Baemons would definitely come looking for him.

Not to mention, Fang Zheng also wanted revenge!

However, no one knew where Baemons the Evil Dragon exactly was. Besides, Fang Zheng’s current strength was not yet sufficient to confront a True God-level Abyssal Lord, so... this matter would have to be put off for later.

But if I can’t fight the big ones, can’t I bully the small ones?

Although the Golden Dragon Girl didn’t elaborate, Fang Zheng could guess that it must have something to do with the Kingdom of Flame. The issue was, finding the person in the Kingdom of Flame who summoned Baemons the Evil Dragon and wanted him dead would not be easy.

As for the reason...

”Although Baemons the Evil Dragon is a Fallen, he is also of the Dragon Race, sleeping in the Abyssal Rift for hundreds to thousands of years as part of his routine. Generally, he would not awaken unless someone calls his True Name. Only then would he appear in that person’s nightmares and make a deal with them. But... that’s exactly the problem.”

At this point, the Golden Dragon Girl also showed a face of helplessness.

”No one really remembers what Baemons the Evil Dragon’s True Name is; it’s like when you blurt out a string of nonsensical words in your dreams that you don’t even know, and hidden among those could be Baemons’s True Name. What’s even more fatal is, when you wake up, you won’t remember having dealt with such a being, and your memory will automatically rationalize the part of the deal you made with the Lord of Evil Dragons. It’s just like the flatterer I mentioned earlier; until the end, he believed that his strong desire for revenge moved the Goddess of Order, and that the Goddess bestowed upon him a Divine Artifact that could command the Dragon Race! If it weren’t for the unmistakable scent of the evil dragon being there, we would have been deceived by that bastard’s fanciful nonsense!”

Yes, this was exactly the point that was causing Fang Zheng a headache. People who had dealt with Baemons the Evil Dragon wouldn’t remember having made a deal with an Evil Dragon Lord in their dreams; perhaps upon waking, they would think they had come up with a clever plot or some scheming trick to achieve their goals. If considered from this angle, then there were probably no less than a thousand people in the Kingdom of Flame who wanted Fang Zheng dead...

But for Fang Zheng, does it matter who the mastermind is behind the scenes?

Not at all!

The Kingdom of Flame wants to kill me? Are they underestimating me, a righteous and lawful Paladin? Eradicating evil will inevitably require sacrifices; better to wrongly kill ninety-nine than to miss one—that is the choice of a Paladin! For the sake of order, for justice, and for the adorable little angels in the Heavenly Dao Palace, Fang Zheng has decided to take down the Kingdom of Flame first, then discuss other matters!

In his conversation with the Golden Dragon Girl, Fang Zheng had learned that most of the forces in the Kingdom of the Holy Church were displeased with the Kingdom of Flame. But what could be done? The Kingdom of Flame was one of the four lands guarding order. If they fell into chaos, it would be easy for chaos to take advantage of them... This is not important; the important thing is that the people of the Kingdom of Flame themselves don’t take this seriously at all!

To the Kingdom of the Holy Church and the Magitech Nation, order is supreme, the most important thing. Thus, chaos is seen as a threat. But it’s not the same for the people of the Kingdom of Flame; they view chaos more like something that can be exploited, a bargaining chip in negotiations with the guardians of order. In fact, there are several sects within the Kingdom of Flame that worship the Chaos Evil Gods, which would be immediately eliminated in the Kingdom of the Holy Church or the Magitech Nation, but the Kingdom of Flame not only does nothing, they even officially call it ”freedom of belief.”

If the Kingdom of the Holy Church dares to meddle, it would be accused by the Kingdom of Flame of interfering in internal affairs... What can the Kingdom of the Holy Church do? The Kingdom of Flame outright tells them, if you don’t cooperate with me, I’ll stop being a guardian of order and will become an accomplice to chaos. They still collude with chaos... Faced with such a gang of bullies and hooligans, even the Pope is helpless.

And the Kingdom of Flame is so arrogant because they are the only guardian of order on that continent. But what if... there were competitors?

When it comes to order, humans can’t even compare to the Zerg!

Once the Zerg become the guardians of order for that continent, I’ll see what you damned idiots have to be proud of! Then, you’ll obediently kneel down and sing ”Conquer” for me!

After listening to Fang Zheng’s plans, Nymph, Tilia, and Black Katie were stunned for a long time before Tilia finally spoke.

”So... Elder Brother, are we going to invade the Kingdom of Flame this time?”

”What do you mean by ’invade’? That sounds unpleasant; we are going to explore!”

Fang Zheng glared at Tilia, although according to the map, the Kingdom of Flame had encircled the entire western continent as their own, the reality was that their territory only occupied one third of the continent at most. The rest was a combination of wilderness and dangerous mountains.

Of course, the peculiar shape of the territory of the Kingdom of Flame was also related to their history; the predecessors of the Kingdom of Flame were a group of exiled criminals and adventurers eager for exploration. They were either banished or in search of thrills and thus crossed the oceans to what was at the time the wild lands of the western continent.

Among the first group of people, there were indeed a few heroic figures. In essence, these people gathered the exiled criminals and adventurers of the time, successfully kindled the Fire of Order on the western continent, and established their own nation there. The Sanctuary was quite pleased at the time, as having another force to help them share the threat of Chaos was a good thing.

However, perhaps because many of the initial members of the Kingdom of Flame had a grudge against the Sanctuary, the Kingdom of Flame, although willing to cooperate with the Holy Church, also had a strong intent to oppose it. The Holy Church did not care much about this; as the Golden Dragon Girl had said, as long as they were still willing to combat Chaos and uphold Order, they were comrades on the same front, even if they were a bit excessive... The Holy Church would only resolve conflicts and disputes within the rules.

That is why, to this day, most of the western continent is still a wilderness and uninhabited area, with some places even resembling the wild areas outside the Northern Fortress, filled with Demon Beasts roaming about. For Fang Zheng, finding a place to establish a base for the Zerg on this continent was a piece of cake.

However, before that, Fang Zheng still had one issue to address.

”At the moment, we have no energy supply on our side, but never mind, self-reliance ensures plenty of food and clothing. Ultimately, energy security must be resolved by ourselves, so... Nymph, have we found any Spirit Crystal mines nearby during this time?”

According to Bishop Carl, places where Chaos and Order meet often have Spirit Crystal Veins. The area Fang Zheng was currently in had always been uninhabited, so guessing that there might be an undersea mine wasn’t too far-fetched.

”This...”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Nymph frowned.

”In fact, according to Tanji’s scans, we have indeed found a place that might very likely be a Spirit Crystal Deposit.”

”What do you mean by ’might very likely’?”

Fang Zheng paused when he heard Nymph’s answer.

”Because there is a very terrifying creature guarding it.”

”Creature?”

”Yes.”

Nymph nodded her head.

”I have continuously sent four or five Tanjis to explore that area, but they were attacked and completely destroyed before they could even locate the exact position of the Spirit Crystal Vein... According to the images transmitted by Tanjis, there seems to live a very powerful sea creature...”

”Is that so?”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng was immediately startled.

Although he had heard rumors about sea monsters from the captain when he first arrived in this sea area, Fang Zheng had never seen any sign of them since the Heavenly Dao Palace was built, so he had long since dismissed these tales.

But unexpectedly, was this rumor actually true?
