Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 743: Chapter 742 What the hell is this thing?!

When Fang Zheng teleported underground and saw Honid again, he was shocked to discover that the situation was even more serious than he had imagined.

”What the hell is this thing?”

Looking at the figure rampaging within the Lizard Man Horde, Fang Zheng was dumbfounded for a moment, completely unsure what to say.

Previously, in the chapel, although Honid had become somewhat aberrant, he at least had a form. But when Fang Zheng faced this Lizard Man again, the extent of his transformation shocked him thoroughly!

At that moment, Honid looked like a wax figure melted by fire, his entire body a sticky mess, and it was even unclear where his mouth and nose were. Not only that, Honid used to need to consume other Lizard Men with his mouth, but now he didn’t even need that step!

”Boom!!”

In front of Fang Zheng’s eyes, the massive creature Honid had become suddenly stomped on a Lizard Man, crushing him underfoot. And before the Lizard Man could even struggle, Honid’s ”foot” instantly turned into a kind of soft, viscous material, wrapping around him like clay, then directly melting and absorbing him. When Honid started moving again, the spot where he had stood was already empty, with most of the stone slabs and soil also vanishing!

This thing eats everything!!

What the heck is this monstrosity!

Seeing this, Fang Zheng quickly raised his right hand and swung it fiercely towards the massive creature in front of him. Accompanied by the burst of magic power, an invisible force field instantly solidified, turning into a huge prison that trapped Honid inside. However, to Fang Zheng’s surprise, once Honid realized he was bound, he roared angrily and his entire body ”stuck” to the force wall.

What followed was a scene that made Fang Zheng’s eyes bulge in astonishment.

After Honid ”stuck” to the force wall, Fang Zheng saw its body begin to squirm like sludge again, spreading gradually across the force wall... And then, to his amazement, he saw Honid’s body seemingly permeate out from the wall like a liquid, while at the same time, it began to transform into a semi-translucent state!

Damn it, can this thing even consume a force wall?!

Realizing that the situation was far worse than he had imagined, Fang Zheng thought that even though Honid had injected that ”Secret Treasure” and become somewhat exaggerated, it should only consume tangible things. Lizard Men, stones, dirt, he could tolerate all that, but consuming a magical creation like the force wall... That was a real Golden Finger!

This can’t go on!

Seeing this, even those without any imagination could foresee what would happen if Honid was allowed to continue ”eating” like this. Fang Zheng had thought about confining or perhaps killing him to leave some remains for the Zerg to study, but now he cast aside all those thoughts. This thing was a mobile Scourge, a walking disaster!

If he kept on eating like this, a disaster was bound to happen!

With that thought, Fang Zheng didn’t hesitate to cancel the effect of the Force Prison spell. Once the support of the force wall was gone, Honid, who had already become unrecognizable, fell heavily to the ground again. However, this time it seemed completely oblivious to any issues, with only indistinct roars of anger coming from its bloated, decaying body.

”I want to eat... I’m so hungry... I need to eat more!”

Eat eat eat, that’s all you know, eat my ass!!

Fang Zheng quickly summoned his Pitch Black Greatsword and rushed towards Honid. Sensing Fang Zheng’s approach, Honid seemed excited—perhaps instinctively feeling the powerful force within Fang Zheng, or maybe it was simply famished and wanted to consume everything that moved. As Fang Zheng charged at Honid, the monster attacked him as well.

”Boom!!”

An invisible limb made of force fields appeared before Fang Zheng, trying to block his path in an indescribable manner. Fang Zheng could clearly see the intermingled flesh, soil, and even the remnants of bricks and Lizard Men within this bizarre limb... these elements, originally distinct in nature, were now blended as if naturally fused together, their boundaries indistinguishable, as though a blur effect had been applied, erasing their original demarcations!

Such a crude attack, of course, posed no obstacle for Fang Zheng. With a flicker of his form, he instantly evaded Honid’s attack and appeared before him. Then, Fang Zheng raised the pitch-black greatsword in his hand and, facing that nearly unrecognizable head, swung his sword!

”Spurt!”

The sharp blade effortlessly pierced into Honid’s head, which had grown massive due to absorption, slashing a deep wound into it. However, Fang Zheng felt none of the expected sensations of slicing into flesh, but rather as if he had struck into something like jelly.

And at that moment, Honid’s voice resounded once more.

”I, I must eat more! It’s not enough, I’m so hungry ahhhhhh!”

Along with Honid’s manic roar, Fang Zheng only saw Honid’s head suddenly burst open, and then he was devoured whole!

”Ah... ahhhhhh!”

Having consumed Fang Zheng, Honid shakily stood up, his body swelling once more during the process until it nearly filled the entire space of the Lizard Man horde’s lair.

”So much... so much power, I can feel it, feel it... ahhhhhh!”

Amidst the flashing firelight, Honid let out a painful scream as his entire body fiercely ignited amidst the flames. The Primordial Soul Fire raged, burning everything to purify it into fuel for power. For a moment, the whole cave blazed brightly, the scorching heat, along with the dazzling crimson radiance, turned the place almost into a purgatory!

Who knows how long it took, but eventually, the firelight began to fade. At the same time, Fang Zheng slowly walked out from the flames, holding the pitch-black greatsword upside down, squinting his eyes as he turned around to look at the burnt remains before him, and couldn’t help but mutter to himself.

”My goodness... what in the world is this thing?”

No wonder Fang Zheng wore such an expression, for when he stabbed into Honid’s body and attempted to burn him into firewood using the Primordial Soul Fire, he was shocked to find that this thing actually tried to merge with his Primordial Soul Fire!

This is deadly!

Fortunately, the Primordial Soul Fire was branded with Fang Zheng’s soul imprint, and it seemed Honid was not very adept at controlling his own abilities, so in the end, Fang Zheng successfully burnt him into firewood using the Primordial Soul Fire. Not just that, Fang Zheng deliberately burned him several times back and forth, fearful of any that might escape... Anyone with a bit of sense could guess that if this thing accidentally got out, it would truly become a scourge upon the world!

Damn, Williams didn’t plan on turning himself into this thing, did he?

Initially, Fang Zheng felt that Williams’s memory of the Secret Treasure containing ”endless disaster” was perhaps deceit used by a cult to dupe people, but now after witnessing Honid’s transformation following the injection of the ”Secret Treasure,” he was astonished to find that it was not a lie, but the truth!

If Williams had turned into something like Honid, then perhaps within the Kingdom of the Holy Church, a fearsome mobile scourge might indeed emerge!!

However...

Looking at the flames gradually dying down, Fang Zheng couldn’t help furrowing his brows.

He had thought that since Honid’s soul had been corrupted, after burning him into firewood with the Primordial Soul Fire, he should be absorbing the power of Chaos. But to Fang Zheng’s surprise, after he burned Honid into firewood with the Primordial Soul Fire, what he sensed was an extremely pure power of Order!

What exactly is going on?
