Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 714: Chapter 713: About the Future of This World

Since the plan was set, everyone naturally waited to execute it, although they did not know what method Fang Zheng had, but since he was full of confidence, there was no need to say more on their part.

But...

”Miss Fiore, I have something I want to talk to you about, regarding the World Tree of a Thousand Realms.”

”......”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng speak, Fiore’s breathing paused slightly, then she glanced at Coles and Gold beside her and nodded.

”I understand, Mr. Fang Zheng, please follow me, let’s talk in private.”

Upon hearing this, Fang Zheng nodded, then he and Fiore left the room, and as they watched their departing figures, Gold sighed deeply and collapsed into a chair. Coles hesitated for a moment and ultimately chose not to follow, instead silently closing the door.

Although it had been attacked before, the courtyard was fortunately unharmed, and Fang Zheng and Fiore strolled within it, admiring the scenery before them. Fang Zheng was silent for a moment, thinking about what he wanted to say, then finally spoke to ask.

”What will happen to the World Tree of a Thousand Realms after this war is over?”

”...I don’t know.”

Although she was mentally prepared, Fiore still lowered her head in response to Fang Zheng’s inquiry.

”Uncle Danik has dedicated everything to this rebellion, whether it be lineage, magic power, or property, he staked it all as a wager. But if we lose, then all this effort will be in vain...... The Mage’s Association will probably not spare us. They will likely seize our property, including the research results and patents we’ve painstakingly accumulated over many years, and even the already weak World Tree of a Thousand Realms may well be forcefully dissolved......”

As she spoke, Fiore’s voice grew even deeper. At any rate, this was her family, and the thought of what might happen next made it hard for her to breathe.

And at that moment, Fang Zheng’s voice suddenly rose in Fiore’s ear.

”Do you know why I originally chose to support the World Tree of a Thousand Realms?”

”Huh?”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng speak, Fiore looked up in surprise at the man beside her, while Fang Zheng gazed into the distance. freēwēbnovel.com

”I admire your principle, though it’s somewhat rough and even reckless, you’ve at least shown a spirit that fears no authority. As an oppressed class, you dared to fight against the oppressor using this approach. Although Danik’s actions later became somewhat paranoid, I admire his resolve and perseverance.”

At this point, Fang Zheng paused.

”The World Tree of a Thousand Realms won’t dissolve, it will become the beacon of the new century, turning a brand new page.”

”Mr. Fang Zheng......?”

Upon hearing this, Fiore’s eyes widened.

”I have decided, Miss Fiore.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng looked toward Fiore.

”Once I win the Holy Grail War, then I hope that I can be the commander of the World Tree of a Thousand Realms...... Of course, I need your support.”

”This...”

A feeling, whether surprise or shock, reverberated in Fiore’s chest as she clasped her hands tightly, gazing at Fang Zheng.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, are you really...... but why?”

”I intend to change this world, and not just the World Tree of a Thousand Realms or the mage society, but the entire world. For this, I need power, influence, and manpower. Most importantly, we share a common ideology. The Mage’s Association has become decayed, no different from an ugly, dying old woman. I plan to overthrow the Mage’s Association, eradicate those so-called traditions that have been passed down for centuries, and rebuild an entirely new order for a new era of the Magic World.”

”......This......”

”Miss Fiore.”

Having said this, Fang Zheng once again looked at Fiore.

”Do you truly believe that for a family of magicians, lineage is essential?”

”That’s... of course?”

To this, Fiore had no doubts; families of magicians inherit Magic Crests generation after generation, and Magic Crests are akin to ’organs’ that are almost impossible to match with those not of blood relation. This is also why families of magicians place extraordinary importance on lineage.

”Yes, that is the case currently, but... it limits magicians, doesn’t it? As the heir to the World Tree of a Thousand Realms family, you must have seen many declining magical families. Do they not possess Magic Crests? No, they possess Crests passed down from their ancestors, but they are unable to produce offspring capable of inheriting these Crests who have magician’s blood. This is why many magical families decline generation after generation, and moreover, because magicians in these families pass their skills only to their heirs, any mishap with the heir could result in the loss of the Magic Crest, which... is the largest issue currently faced by families of magicians, isn’t it?”

”......You’re right, that is indeed the case......”

”In the distant past, this might have been the only way, but... in this era, such practices are outdated. Moreover, exactly because of this, the nobility in the Mage’s Association firmly control the upper echelons of magicians......”

Fang Zheng was clearly aware of the situation in the Type Moon World; Magic Crests were as important as life itself to any family of magicians, but conversely, because Magic Crests are like ’organs’, they are almost impossible to transplant to those not of blood relation.

However, if one has a large branching family lineage, it’s possible to divide a Magic Crest and allow those within the family who have magical aptitude but lack a Magic Crest to receive part of one. Though this would damage the original Magic Crest, with proper care it could recover. This also means that with just a small sacrifice, one could secure the loyalty of branch factions as well as political and financial support.

For exactly this reason, the power of the Old Nobility within the Mage’s Association has become unprecedented. In front of them, ordinary magical families are like grass in front of towering trees, shivering and completely powerless to act.

”Therefore, I must change the status quo.”

”How do you intend to... change this situation?”

”Firstly, we shall modify the Magic Crest to make its adaptability broader——though I don’t expect to achieve the level where anyone can receive a transplant of a Magic Crest initially, at least we need to make it possible to transplant them onto non-specific bloodlines and those who possess magical talents.”

Fang Zheng had obviously thought this through deeply.

”Once we master this technique, then we can call upon the vast numbers of lower-level magicians, appeal to those who share our ideology and views to join us and combat the Mage’s Association. Of course, we won’t welcome those with notorious records or blood-stained hands. We are not a heaven for criminals and outcasts; we are revolutionaries aimed at overthrowing the current corrupt rule of the Mage’s Association and creating a new era.”

”This......!!”

Hearing this, Fiore felt her entire body begin to tremble, a wave of indescribable excitement bursting within her. She certainly understood how desperately those declining families yearned for their Magic Crests to continue. But often, because there were no sufficient heirs with magical talents within their families, they could only watch helplessly as the knowledge passed down from their ancestors was erased.

Such heartache, such pain was absolutely agonizing.

If the World Tree truly mastered the technique to allow non-blood relations to receive Magic Crest transplants, Fiore believed that these small, nearly extinct magical families would join them at any cost! All to ensure the continuation of their ancestors’ Magic Crests!

But... all of this was predicated on the ability to modify the characteristics of Magic Crests; if that couldn’t be achieved, then everything would be mere talk.

So the question arose, could this... be done?

This question surfaced in Fiore’s heart, and immediately she gave an answer.

Of course, it could! As long as Fang Zheng could win the Holy Grail War and achieve the Third Magic, then modifying Magic Crests wouldn’t pose any problem to them at all!

Not only that, being as intelligent as Fiore, she had also thought of what consequences this technology would bring upon the Mage’s Association.

It would cause the centuries-long rule of the Mage’s Association to utterly collapse!!!
