Naruto: Becoming the Soul King

A few days later.

The New Year had passed.

The holiday was over.

The residents of Konoha began their busy lives again.

At this moment, in the Third Training Ground near the Forest of Death...

”Watch closely. This is the Rasengan I developed by incorporating Fire Release chakra nature. I call it Fire Release: Great Flame Rasengan...” Jiraiya said with a smile to his two disciples, Seiryū and Minato.

’Buzz, buzz, buzz...’ As he performed the technique, a buzzing sound filled the air.

A Rasengan appeared, and then he injected Fire Release chakra into it.

’Roar!’ Suddenly, the Rasengan in Jiraiya’s hand was dyed with flames, and the center of the Rasengan began to ignite.

Finally, it formed a rotating, burning Fire Rasengan.

Its size was also one circle larger than a normal Rasengan.

”This is currently my most powerful Fire Release Ninjutsu!” After demonstrating the Fire Release: Great Flame Rasengan, Jiraiya raised his eyebrows at his two disciples. His expression was full of smugness.

Then, looking at Seiryū, he said, ”Although you, kid, beat me to developing the Rasenshuriken, my Great Flame Rasengan is not weak either.”

As he spoke, Jiraiya flashed forward, charging toward a giant rock created by Earth Release Ninjutsu. He thrust out his right hand, pressing the burning Great Flame Rasengan into it...

’Rumble!!’ Amid the roar, flames surged into the sky like a vortex. A violent heat wave rushed toward them, accompanied by charred gravel spraying everywhere.

A moment later, the commotion subsided. A ten-meter-wide charred crater appeared in the field.

Jiraiya returned to his original spot and smiled at his two disciples. ”How is it? The power is pretty good, right? Do you want to learn it?”

Although Seiryū had developed the Rasengan with nature transformation first, developing the Fire Release: Great Flame Rasengan was still something worth bragging about. This was a technique that his other disciple, Minato, had not yet developed. It proved that he, as a Sensei, was still very talented! Being able to show off in front of two incredibly talented disciples made him very proud!

’Clap, clap, clap!’ Seiryū and Minato both applauded.

Minato said sincerely, ”You really live up to your reputation, Jiraiya-sensei!”

He had also been developing a Rasengan with Fire Release chakra nature, but it was not fully perfected yet. He did not expect Jiraiya-sensei to have developed it ahead of him. As expected of Jiraiya-sensei!

”The power is indeed good. To think you developed a Fire Release Rasengan before my senpai did. I underestimated you before, Sensei.” Seiryū did not skimp on the praise either. Truth be told, Jiraiya was quite talented... to actually tinker together the Fire Release: Great Flame Rasengan from the game, and even ahead of Minato. He had underestimated him. He was not just a pervert!

Then Seiryū added, ”Sensei, you finally have some techniques you can teach me. By my count, this should be the second technique you intend to teach me, right?”

”I do want to learn this Great Flame Rasengan... The first was the Compressed Rasengan. Although I was injured at the time, I learned it later under the guidance of my senpai. Since this technique was developed by Sensei first, it is not wrong to say it was taught by Sensei.”

Jiraiya, this Sensei, was finally starting to do his job, no longer just holding the title of his Sensei.

”...” Jiraiya was choked up by Seiryū’s words. He was used to this kid’s unpredictability, so he continued, ”I don’t think overly common techniques are of much use to you. You already have too many strange techniques.”

”The only techniques of mine that might interest you are probably the derivative developments of the Rasengan and Senjutsu.”

”Senjutsu... there is no way right now...” As he said this, Jiraiya looked at Tsunade, who was not far away, and chuckled. ”You had better try to get Tsunade’s permission first...”

That woman Tsunade was really something. He had clearly said he was just going to teach Seiryū how to practice the Fire Release: Great Flame Rasengan. Why did she have to tag along, worried? What exactly was his image in her mind? She was too concerned about this kid Seiryū! Why did she not care about him, her companion? He felt a little discouraged. Tsunade was his white moonlight, and he wanted to be cared for by his white moonlight too...

”...” Seiryū subconsciously looked at Tsunade, who was chatting with Kushina, Kurenai, and Shizune, but would glance over here from time to time.

After that last incident, Seiryū always felt that Tsunade’s gaze toward him was strange sometimes. Maybe it was the aftereffect of that kiss, or maybe the aftereffect of Kaidō... In any case, Tsunade had changed somewhat... And very obviously, that inexplicable possessiveness toward him had become stronger, and she liked to find opportunities to touch his head.

Oh no! This bad woman Tsunade was developing into a shota-con. She was practically a pervert! He had to be careful when getting along with her in the future...

”I know.” Seiryū sighed helplessly. ”But this bad woman is too protective of me. I clearly feel I am ready to practice Senjutsu. What is there to worry about? I am not a child. I still have a sense of propriety!”

Jiraiya: ”...”

Minato: ”...”

The ”sense of propriety” you speak of might be very different from what others understand. You have been seriously injured three times in just about a year since graduating from the Ninja Academy. How dare you say you have a sense of propriety?

”Ahem...” Jiraiya coughed dryly. He did not want to delve into whether Tsunade was too protective of Seiryū or whether Seiryū had a sense of propriety... He continued, ”I will tell you the essentials of practicing Great Flame Rasengan.”

”You have already mastered the Rasenshuriken, so you should know the essentials and techniques of a Rasengan injected with chakra nature. Balance, control, maintenance, and the ratio of chakra nature are the most critical.”

”Great Flame Rasengan is like this...”

Afterwards, Jiraiya told Seiryū and Minato the details of the Great Flame Rasengan. With their talent, plus having already mastered the Rasenshuriken, which required wind nature, as long as they knew the techniques, it should not take long to master the Great Flame Rasengan.

And that was indeed the case. It only took a few dozen minutes for Seiryū to master the Great Flame Rasengan that Jiraiya had developed.

Following close behind, Minato, who had already studied a Rasengan with Fire Release chakra nature, also successfully performed the Great Flame Rasengan.

Seeing this, Jiraiya’s mouth twitched. ”...” He had expected his two disciples to master the Great Flame Rasengan quickly, but he did not expect it to take less than an hour.

Even though he was happy that his disciples were so talented, he also felt a lack of accomplishment. They learned it as soon as he taught it, and mastered it as soon as they learned it... It could not fully demonstrate his level as a Sensei.

But this was also fine. If his disciples were too stupid, he would need more time to teach them. He was busy looking for the Child of Prophecy and could not always be with his disciples.

Now it was Jiraiya’s turn to praise them sincerely. ”As expected of my disciples, your talent is truly extraordinary. You have already mastered it in less than an hour.”

Minato scratched his head, a bit embarrassed, and said, ”After all, I had been researching it before, so it is normal to be this fast. But I did not expect Seiryū to be even faster than me.”

Seiryū said naturally, ”I had also made some assumptions in this regard. Wind Release can be injected into the Rasengan to develop the Rasenshuriken, so other nature transformations naturally can too.”

”I even want to collect all seven types of nature Rasengans, and then summon the Divine Dragon to grant my wish!”

Wind, Fire, Lightning, Earth, Water, Yin, Yang. All seven chakra natures could definitely be injected into the Rasengan. Summoning the Divine Dragon was, of course, a joke. But Seiryū, who had obsessive-compulsive disorder, said he really wanted to collect all seven types of Rasengan. He would find time to try and develop them. There was no help for it. Obsessive-compulsive disorder was very unreasonable. While satisfying his OCD, Seiryū also wanted to satisfy his collecting habit.

Too lazy to respond to such incomprehensible words from Seiryū, Minato pondered and smiled. ”Sensei, Seiryū, I think the Great Flame Rasengan and Rasenshuriken can continue to be developed. For example...”

Hearing this, Seiryū’s eyes lit up immediately. Without waiting for Minato to finish, he said excitedly, ”Senpai, have you also thought of other development directions?”

Minato hesitated and said, ”Uh, I suppose so...”

Seiryū gave a thumbs-up and continued, ”Actually, I have thought about another way to use the Rasenshuriken. After all, it is named after a shuriken, so it certainly can’t just be thrown!”

”Can’t a Fūma Shuriken also be held in the hand as a melee weapon?”

Seeing that no one interrupted him, Seiryū felt they were waiting for him to finish. So he spoke more and more enthusiastically. ”I have tried using the Rasenshuriken as a melee weapon. The wind blades of the high-speed rotating Rasenshuriken are lethal!”

”If you hold it in your hand and cut directly into the enemy, let alone flesh, even steel can be cut through!”

”The only problem is that the Rasenshuriken is not very stable and will explode at the slightest collision.”

”As long as this problem is solved, the lethality of this high-speed cutting is not to be underestimated. It is absolutely the nemesis of defense!”

Finally, excitement flashed in Seiryū’s eyes. ”I have already thought of a name for it: Rasenshuriken’s Eight-Fold Light Wheel!!”

Minato was stunned. ”...”

What he meant was... the Rasengan could be turned into a more powerful Big Ball Rasengan or Ultra-Big Ball Rasengan by injecting more chakra. Thus, a Rasengan with nature transformation could naturally also increase its power through this method...

But... this usage of Seiryū’s. Hey, come to think of it, as long as the explosive weakness of the Rasenshuriken could be overcome, it was indeed a powerful move...

He could not help but think of the Second Hokage’s S-rank Water Release Ninjutsu, Hard Whirlpool Water Blade. The usage was roughly the same. It could be used for melee attacks or thrown for ranged attacks... Could the Rasenshuriken be used this way too!? He had learned something new!!

”...” Jiraiya was also stunned for a moment. This kid’s imagination was really wild. He subconsciously asked, ”Then... what about the Great Flame Rasengan? Are there any other uses?”

He also wanted to hear if Seiryū had any different insights on the Great Flame Rasengan that he had developed and perfected!

”Uh...” Seiryū was stunned by the question. He really had not thought about this. After thinking carefully, he shook his head. ”The form of the Great Flame Rasengan is a ball.”

”Other than medium balls, big balls, and ultra-big balls, pressing it at close range, throwing it at medium range, and staring blankly at long range, what other uses could there be?”

”Forgive me, my imagination is not big enough. I really can’t think of any for the moment...”

The Great Flame Rasengan could not be thrown, nor did it change shape. It was just a Rasengan with Fire Release chakra nature added, with more power and burning effects. What other uses could a Rasengan have? Did Naruto not already tell you? Even the balls that appeared in later non-combustible objects followed the same principle. Their release forms were all about the same. Press at close range, throw at medium range, stare blankly at long range. Although the Rasengan was developed based on the Tailed Beast Ball, it was different from the Tailed Beast Ball...

”Fine.” Jiraiya was also speechless. This kid had already stated the essence of the Rasengan. What else could he say? It seemed that these were the only uses for balls.

However, he then asked curiously, ”It is true that the Rasengan is a ball, but why is it medium ball, big ball, ultra-big ball? What about small ball?”

Seiryū: ”?”

Sensei, your focus is strange!

Adhering to the philosophy of a good student, Seiryū felt it was necessary to explain. So he performed a Rasengan. ”This is a medium ball!”

The Rasengan turned into a Big Ball Rasengan. ”This is a big ball!”

The Big Ball Rasengan turned into an Ultra-Big Ball Rasengan. ”This is an ultra-big ball!”

”...” Jiraiya’s mouth twitched, and he asked back, ”Shouldn’t it be small ball, medium ball, big ball?”

Minato had the same question!!

Seiryū said seriously, ”I’m sorry, Sensei, the Rasengan only has medium ball, big ball, and ultra-big ball. There is no small ball!”

The Ultra-Big Ball Rasengan shrank back to normal size. ”This is a medium ball...”

Seeing that Seiryū still wanted to continue demonstrating... Jiraiya interrupted with a dark face. ”Stop, I know. No need to demonstrate!”

Jiraiya inexplicably had the urge to slap himself. He knew Seiryū occasionally had episodes, so why did he ask Seiryū such a question? Seiryū was obviously having an episode again!!

Minato was also silent. ”...”

”Oh, Sensei, Senpai, just remember. The Rasengan is a medium ball, the Big Ball Rasengan is a big ball, and the Ultra-Big Ball Rasengan is an ultra-big ball. Don’t get it wrong.” Seiryū nodded. After popularizing the science, he dispersed the Rasengan.

The Sensei and disciple duo were speechless!!

Taking a short break, while they were chatting, Minato seemed to remember something. He looked at Seiryū and said, ”By the way, Seiryū, do you have anything to do this afternoon?”

”If you are free this afternoon, shall I test whether you have the talent for Space-Time Ninjutsu?”

”Don’t you want to learn the Flying Thunder God Technique?”

Previously, Seiryū had also been interested in the Flying Thunder God Technique and had the idea of learning it. He had also promised Seiryū that he would find a time to test whether he had talent in Space-Time Ninjutsu. However, he was now the Jōnin Instructor of Team 7 and had to attend to practicing Senjutsu, so his time was not abundant and he was quite busy. And Seiryū was injured from time to time, and had other Ninjutsu that needed to be developed and perfected. So this matter had been delayed. He almost forgot about it.

”Flying Thunder God Technique?” Hearing this, Seiryū also patted his forehead. He remembered. ”If you had not mentioned it, Senpai, I would have forgotten about this...”

Seiryū had indeed forgotten about this. Recently, there had been too many things. The time bomb of the Dragon Vein sealed in the Strength of a Hundred Seal, perfecting the Rasenshuriken, the Chunin Exams approaching, getting injured again, and the part of the Dragon Vein power he had already mastered that needed to be researched... A lot of things happened one after another. Seiryū had even forgotten that he wanted to learn the Flying Thunder God Technique...

Oh, thinking about it again, he should also be able to continue practicing the Sealing Jutsu of the Uzumaki Clan. Things like Contract Seal, Tail-Locking Seal, Adamantine Sealing Chains, Reaper Death Seal... and so on. Of course, he was mainly interested in the Adamantine Sealing Chains and the Reaper Death Seal. The Adamantine Sealing Chains had similarities with Bakudō #63: Sajō Sabaku, and he wanted to see if they could be used in combination... And the Reaper Death Seal, this one-for-one technique, would cause the ”Shinigami” to appear. Seiryū was full of curiosity about this ”Shinigami” and wanted to study it. Maybe he would trigger some quest? After all, in a sense, he was also a ”Shinigami” now.
