System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

October 24th, a misty drizzle.

At the confluence of the rivers, fog was steaming, and the misty rain created an almost unreal obstruction to the view.

”Teacher Tong, I finished the competition, but it was just going through the motions.” Lu Cheng reported to Tong Yuan’an as they walked out of the hotel entrance, holding umbrellas and heading towards the parking lot.

[Nerve Suturing Skill (Proficient 10/10)] Even with the nerve suturing skills from Union Hospital, Lu Cheng couldn’t stand out in such a competition.

Lu Cheng was holding the umbrella, while Tong Yuan’an pulled out his car keys, opened the driver’s door, carefully squeezed inside, and said irritably, ”It’s enough, you already cheated your way to first place in two tracks.”

”If you bloom another flower, we might easily drag you off for an autopsy, anesthesiologists and surgeons are easy to find.”

Lu Cheng headed towards the passenger seat, voluntarily opening the car door: ”Teacher Tong, the prize money for this competition is calculated per track, right?”

Tong Yuan’an’s plump face slightly quivered as Lu Cheng got in the car: ”Why are you still hung up on this issue?”

Chen Song really led the kid astray, making him completely obsessed with prize money matters.

”Mainly because I’m broke... Teacher Tong,” Lu Cheng said.

”Each first place in a track should be worth about thirty thousand yuan, right?”

”Are you going to treat us?” Tong Yuan’an laughed while fastening his seatbelt.

”Alright, Teacher Tong.” Lu Cheng replied courteously.

He was not unaware of Teacher Cao’s importance, nor was he unaware that having a meal with him was a rare opportunity, but Lu Cheng didn’t want to get too entangled.

”Just joking, today it’s Boss Tan’s treat, don’t worry about it.”

”Don’t rush to pay when we get there.” Tong Yuan’an quickly chimed in.

One thing was clear, Lu Cheng really hadn’t seen much of the ’world.’

It wasn’t that Lu Cheng didn’t understand his own ’positioning,’ but that he lacked social experience like this.

As Tong Yuan’an spoke, Lu Cheng’s phone rang.

Lu Cheng picked it up and saw that the previously missed number was calling again. After a moment of hesitation, Lu Cheng decided to answer.

”Is this Dr. Lu? I’m calling from the competition site, and we have a bit of a problem here, we need you to come over.”

”Considering your suturing technique used in this competition was quite novel, the judging panel and other contestants have some doubts, so we ask you to come over.” Professor Cao Qianwei’s voice came through the phone.

The car hadn’t started yet, and Lu Cheng’s expression was somewhat conflicted: ”Teacher Cao, do you think there’s a problem with my competition result?”

”It’s not what I think, it’s what everyone thinks. This scoring is too outrageous after all.”

”Dr. Lu, where are you now? I can have someone bring you over.” Cao Qianwei’s tone was proactive.

”I’m downstairs, just about to go for dinner.” Lu Cheng found a reasonable excuse.

Meanwhile, Lu Cheng turned on the speakerphone.

”Dinner can wait, you need to come up first, we need to sort out the issue here first.”

”After we handle it here, there’ll be no issue with going to dinner together.” Cao Qianwei’s voice accurately reached Tong Yuan’an’s ears.

But Tong Yuan’an didn’t hesitate to chime in: ”Lu Cheng, you don’t have to go, they can doubt the results all they want, even if they cancel the scores, it’s fine.”

”Who’s beside you?” Cao Qianwei’s tone instantly turned angry.

”Hand surgery, Tong Yuan’an.”

”Lu Cheng is a contestant, he’s already completed his competition, Teacher if you have doubts about his result, you can declare it invalid.”

”Whoever doubts it, they should provide the evidence.” Tong Yuan’an’s voice was calm and steady.

Cao Qianwei immediately threw a big accusation: ”You, a hand surgeon, interfering in our general surgery matters?”

”Teacher, you, a general surgeon, clinging onto us orthopedic people, is that appropriate?” Tong Yuan’an asserted his position.

Sure enough, Tong Yuan’an’s words made the other party fall silent.

Why would a hand surgeon be involved in suturing of substantive organs? Moreover, capable of creating original suturing techniques for substantive organs?

However, Lu Cheng’s tendon suturing track result was indisputable, there were no doubts, it was straightforwardly given a perfect score.

Cao Qianwei also considered that Lu Cheng wasn’t a general surgery specialist, he just didn’t expect that Lu Cheng would get taken by the hand surgeons so early on.

Cao Qianwei didn’t speak further, and Lu Cheng didn’t know what to say for a while.

He had no experience dealing with such situations, so to avoid making mistakes by speaking more, he simply remained silent.

”Dr. Lu, are you very familiar with Dr. Tong from the hand surgery?” After a while, Cao Qianwei asked this casually.

”Teacher Cao, Teacher Tong is the poverty alleviation teacher at our hospital, he’s taught me a lot of things. He’s still doing poverty alleviation work with us now.” Lu Cheng said.

”Alright, then you go ahead with your business.” Cao Qianwei didn’t pursue the matter further.

Given that Lu Cheng and Tong Yuan’an were already acquainted, and Tong Yuan’an was currently at Lu Cheng’s unit, Cao Qianwei did not doubt Tong Yuan’an’s discernment.

Under such a circumstance, using power to bully others was useless, if it brought out Xiangya Hospital’s orthopedic big boss and dean, he wouldn’t gain any advantage, he might even be ridiculed.

...

After hanging up, Lu Cheng asked, ”Teacher Tong, they won’t really cancel my competition result, will they? That’s several ten thousand yuan!”

”If it’s canceled, I’ll personally compensate you, okay?” Tong Yuan’an’s tone suddenly became not so good.
