System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Not only have you learned the surgeries our department already knows, but you’ve also filled in some surgical gaps in our hospital!”

”In this situation, even if I leave, you’ll just be a bit busier, but it won’t stop the department from functioning normally.”

”Yes, you might have to work harder.” Lin Qianlong said.

In terms of surgical breadth, Lin Qianlong actually has more experience than Lu Cheng. It’s just that due to the emergency department’s demands, Lin Qianlong could only delegate some surgeries to the emergency department.

However, in terms of surgical novelty, he doesn’t quite measure up to Lu Cheng. Lu Cheng knows some of the routine surgeries, which is enough to support the emergency surgery department.

The County Hospital doesn’t aim for everyone to treat every disease; as long as it’s slightly better than the peer county hospitals, it’s enough for the Long County People’s Hospital’s emergency department to stand out.

The transfer of skills is something that takes a long time to iterate.

While Lu Cheng was still puzzled, Lin Qianlong said, ”After all, when you decide to leave, there may not be someone able to replace you. You’ll face more psychological challenges than I will.”

Lu Cheng’s heart suddenly tightened as he looked at Lin Qianlong.

Lin Qianlong tore through all pretenses directly: ”Actually, whether a person leaves or not doesn’t just depend on personal issues, but also on the impact of the decision.”

”But it’s still best to prioritize personal pros and cons.”

”This platform is just a group of people willing to cooperate and work together; it’s not like everyone has sold themselves to the institution.”

”Sometimes, I also struggle, thinking about whether to leave or to keep you here.”

”But after hearing you wanted to leave, I gave up on that idea.”

”We’re all adults, each with our own futures. We’ve known each other for a while, so let’s part amiably.”

”It’s a way to do justice to this encounter.”

Lu Cheng: ”...”

Lin Qianlong is quite a ”bastard” because since both he and I are leaving, he dragged me into it to endure the ’inner guilt’ together!

Lu Cheng had nothing to say, after all, none of us are saints: ”I wish Director Lin a bright future.”

”You too, Xiao Lu.”

”Since your shift is over, just go back and rest. I’ll stay a bit longer to sort and pack my things.”

”I’ll hand things over to Zhang Tiesheng when he comes later.”

”Regarding clinical work, I don’t think there’s anything left to hand over.” Lin Qianlong started rambling a bit.

Just as Lu Cheng was about to leave, Lin Qianlong added: ”Oh, by the way, Director Du ’left,’ so we got the Spleen Preservation Surgery and Gallbladder Preservation Surgery back.”

”You’re quite something... playing spy games with Du Qiang without a sound...”

”If it wasn’t for the call I got from Du Qiang before he left, I wouldn’t have seen through it.”

Lu Cheng feigned confusion: ”Director Lin, is Director Du leaving too?”

Lin Qianlong nodded: ”Whether he’ll actually leave, I can’t say. He’s quite the old fox.”

Lin Qianlong said: ”At least for now, he says he’s leaving. Maybe he’ll be persuaded by the hospital leadership?”

”Damn, something’s off?” Lin Qianlong suddenly flipped over as if startled:

”Du Qiang wants to come to the emergency department!!”

”Oh well, I’ve learned from it too!~”

”That’s what I thought, why would Du Qiang suddenly swap surgeries with our emergency department. So that’s what it was about!~”

Lin Qianlong hadn’t mentioned it, and Lu Cheng hadn’t thought about it in that direction.

With Lin Qianlong laying it out, Lu Cheng also suddenly understood.

Du Qiang wasn’t having a good time in the General Surgery department, so knowing that Lin Qianlong was leaving, he wanted a position in the Emergency Department.

Lu Cheng is skilled in emergency care, so if Du Qiang wants to take over as the director of the General Surgery department, he has to ”build a good relationship” with Lu Cheng!

And currently, Du Qiang, as the head of General Surgery, has to offer the emergency department a broader range of surgeries, with at least some justifiable transactions to benefit General Surgery.

But what happens with General Surgery in the future is a matter for the future!

The ’candidate’ for the General Surgery head likely agreed to lose some surgical volume as a trade-off to get Du Qiang out of the way and to rise to the position.

If Du Qiang doesn’t leave, how would the position of the General Surgery head be vacated?

Lu Cheng made a bitter joke: ”Director Lin, how about not leaving...”

Lin Qianlong shook his head firmly: ”Even if I didn’t want to leave, I’d have to now. I’d rather not have Du Qiang targeting me, he’s been plotting this for a long time.”

”If I stay in his position, who knows what might happen.”

”The sooner I leave, the better! You should go too.” Lin Qianlong waved his hand and ’shooed’ Lu Cheng ’out the door’!
