System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”But what’s the meaning of this call you gave me?”

Xie Xiao said: ”Just now Professor Zhong confirmed it, Lu Cheng said he’s once again excelled in the suturing techniques for nerves and blood vessels, which is way beyond the current suture techniques.”

”Otherwise, it wouldn’t be called a technique.”

Skill is skill, it’s personal experience and habit.

Technique is technique, it’s something that can become a skill, be documented, promoted, and proven effective through experimentation.

”Can I shout ’666’?” Xie Yuan’an immediately adopted a tone that enjoyed causing a stir.

Xie Xiao immediately criticized: ”Don’t be sarcastic!”

”Alright, that’s what I meant anyway.”

”Do you have anything else? If not, I have to go handle something you asked me to find for you before.” Xie Yuan’an replied.

Xie Xiao: ”Nothing else...”

After Xie Xiao hung up the phone, he immediately replied to Zhong Junyun: ”Director Zhong, Xie Yuan’an doesn’t know about this either.”

”But she mentioned one thing, that Lu Cheng and she had agreed for her to take the suturing techniques of tendons and substantial organs to the microsurgery competition.”

”Director Zhong, my point is, our positioning technique focuses on nerve suturing, since Lu Cheng claims to have a suturing technique too, why not let him try it?”

”It’s not certain who will win or lose.”

”This is more conducive to healthy competition, and when Lu Cheng comes, it will be beneficial and progressive for both.”

”In this way, our hand surgery department can develop in multiple directions, since our platform is large enough, it’s not impossible for us to support three or four hand surgery specializations like Huashan Hospital.”

Zhong Junyun replied: ”The problem is, Lu Cheng is currently unwilling to come.”

Xie Xiao frowned: ”Is this confirmed? It feels like he’s abandoning us once he’s had his fill.”

Zhong Junyun said: ”He’s just not coming to our department, but he will go to the emergency department.”

Xie Xiao: ”...”

Xie Xiao thought of a possibility: ”That could be troublesome, the people in our hospital’s emergency department are not easy to deal with, they might as well start an emergency hand surgery department.”

The emergency department at Union Hospital is not one to abide obediently by rules.

Never mind hand surgery, if the department’s personnel are capable enough, they would even venture into emergency neurosurgery; restricting specialized emergency disease types is no joke.

A specialty or sub-specialty that hasn’t been touched by emergency situations ultimately lacks a bit of soul.

”Did Xie Yuan’an say she would contact Lu Cheng?” Zhong Junyun asked.

Xie Xiao angrily replied: ”Director Zhong, I’ve already reprimanded Xie Yuan’an very severely, girls tend to be a bit petty.”

”I told her, if she can’t figure things out, she shouldn’t come home.”

Zhong Junyun didn’t care about whether Xie Xiao’s performance was genuine: ”Thirty years old, thirty years old, and clearly doesn’t understand anything, not even the basic rules of research. How can they achieve originality?”

”And it’s originality in medical clinical technology, does that seem reasonable to you?” Zhong Junyun asked Xie Xiao.

Xie Xiao did not answer, tacitly agreeing with Zhong Junyun’s perspective.

He had no particular affection for Lu Cheng, only a passing interest in the events surrounding Lu Cheng, nothing more.

...

In Long County, at the Chen Mansion’s wood-fired chicken, a Mongolian yurt.

By late October, Long County had already turned chilly, and sitting around a wood-fired stove provided a warm, cozy feeling to those around it.

This time, the drinks were arranged by Professor Tan Zhongyuan.

Of course, Lu Cheng didn’t come empty-handed, bringing along a pack of Hua Zi and two bottles of ’Liquor Ghost’!

When Tan Zhongyuan and Zhou Yuhui arrived at the Mongolian yurt, Lu Cheng quickly stood up, greeting them with a smile: ”Director Tan, Director Zhou.”

”Professor Han, Brother Yi...”

Hu Yi, taller than Lu Cheng by half a head, nearly touched the yurt’s ceiling.

”Boss Lu, how are you?” Hu Yi smiled somewhat ’obsequiously’.

Lu Cheng and Hu Yi shook hands: ”Teacher Hu, if I’m a small shop owner, then you’re the CEO of a multinational corporation.”

Tan Zhongyuan promptly said: ”Let’s skip the mutual flattery, today we’re here to talk about some serious business.”

”Hu Yi, go open the wine.”

”Lu Cheng, it’s like this. Today, I still want to formally express my sincerity; I represent the hand surgery department of Xiangya Hospital, sincerely inviting Dr. Lu to join our department and our team.”

”You don’t need to worry about actual treatment-related issues, resources will be tilted in your favor as much as possible, we certainly aim to cultivate you as a provincial-level academic leader.” Tan Zhongyuan was straightforward.

Lu Cheng sat down, seeming a bit taken aback, but after hearing Tan Zhongyuan finish, he replied: ”Director Tan, it should have been a courtesy from the elder which I dare not refuse.”

”But I have personal reasons, my partner is developing her career in Han City’s Union Hospital, and our planned development unit is Union Hospital.”

”I’ve already made the decision; in all likelihood, I will be working in the emergency department at Union Hospital in the future, for which I must thank Director Tan for your goodwill.”

”This is the development area we have recently been determined about.”

Tan Zhongyuan asked: ”Have you decided this quickly, Dr. Lu?”

”Yes, we had already decided that our workplace would be in Han City.” Lu Cheng thought for a moment.

”To be honest, after you, Director Xiang from the Xiangya Second Hospital’s emergency department also approached me, and I had to politely refuse.”

”Of course, while there won’t be opportunities for us to work together, there will still be many opportunities for cooperation in research projects.”

”This requires your continued support and mentorship, professors.”

”Today, I actually wanted to have a good chat with you, Director Tan, which is also related to some of my past experiences.”
