System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Lu Cheng reined in his motions: ”The current situation is just as I’ve described; our medical department hasn’t succeeded in persuading your emergency department’s Director Lin Qianlong.”

”Therefore, starting next month, Director Huang Haibo from the emergency department will take over as acting director. You will take the position of acting head of the surgery group.”

”You need to mentally prepare yourself.”

In the surgery group, apart from Lin Qianlong, only Zhang Tiesheng held a deputy senior title, so it made sense for him to act as director.

Zhang Tiesheng never expected to reach the director position so soon: ”Why? Director Bao?”

Through the conversation, Lu Cheng roughly understood that the caller was Director Bao Liming from the medical department.

”There aren’t so many reasons why, Director Lin Qianlong’s daughter is looking for a job at Feng County People’s Hospital!~” Bao Liming replied.

”Didn’t they say Lin Qian was coming to our hospital?” Zhang Tiesheng asked.

”She was just looking for a job, not necessarily to work here. That’s basically how it stands.”

”Dr. Zhang, Director Huang from your department is quite talented; you’d better learn from him.”

”This time, as far as I know, your emergency department, which should have had the most issues, was found to have the least.”

”I can tell you this much, the other directors who resigned might not be able to leave so smoothly.” Bao Liming’s voice also carried some stiffness.

Originally, when the inspection team came to Xiangzhou, Renmin Hospital was already in chaos, and now people are making trouble by resigning; isn’t this making it hard for the hospital administration to manage?

The hospital staff can’t be retained; the administration is definitely to blame.

The ones resigning are at the director level, it would usually mean the dean himself resigned, otherwise, wouldn’t the dean be overwhelmed?

Senior titled doctors in Long County are already few, and now several are leaving, which basically upends the County Health Bureau.

Zhang Tiesheng replied: ”Hmm, Director Huang understands some of the rules and sometimes even gets involved in our surgery group’s matters.”

Huang Haibo is knowledgeable about the law, and he even self-studied to obtain a lawyer’s practice certificate, even arguing in court himself.

”That’s settled then. As for Director Lin’s resignation, let’s just say it wasn’t meant to be.”

”Now, from the hospital level, what we’re considering is that we hope you can step up, make good use of the talent in your department, and try not to affect the normal work of the emergency department.” Bao Liming said.

”But? Director Bao, our department’s Lu Cheng is also planning to leave in the future?” Zhang Tiesheng spoke directly.

”What happens in the future is another matter, now is now, even if we recruit, it will take time.”

”Where can we find a suitable director for our hospital in the short term?”

”Lin Qianlong reported this to us months ago, we’ve contacted a few people during this gap, but haven’t found anyone suitable...”

After Zhang Tiesheng’s phone call was hung up, he noticed Lu Cheng looking at him with a rather puzzled expression, but without directly asking.

Zhang Tiesheng succinctly said: ”Director Lin resigned to Feng County People’s Hospital, Director Huang will be our emergency department director next month, and the hospital has arranged for me to act as the surgery group director.”

”I’m quite burdened right now.”

A doctor who doesn’t want to become a director isn’t a good doctor, but Zhang Tiesheng never thought he’d become a director now.

Does he have the strength and ability for this?

At this point, Zhang Tiesheng’s eyeglasses even tilted a bit; after adjusting them several times to no avail, he simply took them off and began to rub his eyes vigorously.

”Director Lin is resigning?” Lu Cheng found it somewhat unbelievable.

Lu Cheng was also aware that Director Lin has a daughter named Lin Qian, who wasn’t a doctor but majored in nursing.

Previously, he had heard people in the department mention that Lin Qian was coming to Long County People’s Hospital, but certainly not to the emergency department.

Relatives aren’t allowed to be in the same department.

”Yes. Wait a moment, Xiao Lu, let me catch my breath; I really feel a bit anxious.”

”This matter is too sudden.” Zhang Tiesheng reached out to steady Lu Cheng.

Shortly after Lu Cheng fell silent, Tian Zhuang called: ”Brother Lu, there’s an appendicitis case in the clinic...”

”Oh, okay, I’m coming right away.” Lu Cheng replied as he headed out.

Tian Zhuang could differentiate the grading of appendicitis. The call about appendicitis must indicate a need for emergency surgery.

”Brother Zhang, there’s another appendicitis case, I’m heading out to check.”

”Okay!~” Zhang Tiesheng nodded.

”Xiao Lu, I won’t be joining you for barbecue; call Zeng Huanqi instead, I need to go back and ask Director Lin properly.” Zhang Tiesheng was genuinely a bit flustered, not merely pretending to say so.

Whether it’s enjoyable to be a director aside for now, but the pressure and responsibility on one’s shoulders are certainly several times greater.

Appendicitis surgery isn’t difficult; working with Zeng Huanqi, it was done in just forty minutes.

However, it’s obvious that Zeng Huanqi, too, had heard the rumors, as he watched the patient leave the operating room!

While taking off his gloves and heading to the sink to wash his hands, Zeng Huanqi said: ”Xiao Lu, you must have heard about the changes in our department, right?”

Lu Cheng nodded: ”When Director Bao from the medical department called Brother Zhang, I happened to be nearby.”

”It’s just that this news is a bit sudden.”

”Of course it’s sudden; the personnel department and the medical department wouldn’t release this kind of news early, preventing us from losing our composure ahead of time.”

”Director Lin’s group indeed signed contracts in October, expiring in November.”

”Director Lin submitted his resignation back in August this year—it was like, Lin Qian initially wanted to go for an administrative post, but it wasn’t approved.”
