System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”It would have been better to use this favor for something else.” Xiao Zhaoxi slapped his thigh.

Lu Cheng asked, ”Director Xiao, is there an extra slot available?”

”What hospital doesn’t have announcements without restrictions on recruitment conditions and time? Have you studied them carefully?” Xiao Zhaoxi questioned.

Lu Cheng shook his head, ”No, I never dared to think about it. When I went through the formal application process before, I was turned down.”

Xiao Zhaoxi glanced at Mu Leng, ”Then it’s his fault; your uncle dropped the ball.”

”If he had ever approached me before, could I let you go? In 18, a bachelor’s degree from Han City University could still get you into our hospital.”

Mu Leng laughed, ”Back then, I didn’t know Director Xiao was a relative from my mom’s side. I wouldn’t dare to visit rashly. I’m just a businessman, how can I compare to cadres like you?”

Mu Leng also had some sarcasm in his tone.

”Let bygones be bygones. Now, the central inspection team is in Xiangzhou, and they’ll be stationed for at least a month or two.”

”There’s nothing to worry about for Xiao Lu regarding this matter.”

”However?” Xiao Zhaoxi asked again, ”Xiao Lu, specifically, what surgeries can you perform?”

”If your skills are good, that would make it even more aboveboard.”

Lu Cheng quickly said, ”Uncle Xiao, the surgeries I’m currently conducting regularly are Tendon Suturing Skill and Limb Replantation Surgery.”

”Splenectomy, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, spleen preservation, gallbladder preservation, simple liver preservation.”

Lu Cheng added, ”Fractures...”

Xiao Zhaoxi’s expression was stunned, his mouth slightly open for a while, then he looked at Mu Leng and decisively said, ”Mu Leng, maybe we should seriously discuss this. Lu Cheng’s education doesn’t really match your daughter’s.”

”You should knock some sense into them!”

Mu Leng rolled his eyes, ”You, as an elder, really don’t behave decently sometimes.”

Xiao Zhaoxi slapped his thigh hard, ”Mu Leng, how did you get so lucky?”

”You do business so well, and now you find such a person for a son-in-law? Did you just hit the jackpot?”

After murmuring, Xiao Zhaoxi formally said to Lu Cheng, ”Xiao Lu, we should be cautious; don’t brag. If there’s a surgery you can’t do, just don’t mention it. Otherwise, it might cause trouble later.”

Lu Cheng seriously thought for a moment, ”Director Xiao, I’m not making things up!”

”Of course, the specific surgical techniques I use are all legitimate, within my practicing scope. There’s no overstepping involved.”

”You can perform both spleen and gallbladder preservation surgeries?” Xiao Zhaoxi seriously pursued.

Lu Cheng nodded, ”Yes!”

”These surgeries, our general surgery department doesn’t even do them?” Xiao Zhaoxi tilted his head, his tone serious, his eyes cold, pressing for answers.

Xiao Zhaoxi’s look-changing abilities could embody the phrase ”smiling tiger” to the hilt.

”Yes!” Lu Cheng persisted adamantly.

Xiao Zhaoxi’s voice cracked, ”Mu Leng, you’re fooling around, calling me every day for what?”

”Your calls and contacts could possibly become incriminating evidence of some shady deal for bringing Lu Cheng into our hospital.”

”Does he need you to plan all these things for him?”

”Can’t he come with his eyes closed?”

Mu Leng was uninterested in Xiao Zhaoxi’s frustration and murmurs, ”Director Xiao, I just worry something unexpected might happen.”

Xiao Zhaoxi sighed, ”There might have been surprise before, but at this point in time, unexpected events are minimal. The exams will be the fairest and most transparent.”

Xiao Zhaoxi clapped his hands, ”So, this matter is settled. Lu Cheng, once I get back, I’ll apply for a special talent introduction project for you.”

Lu Cheng, not easy to fool as a young man would be, said, ”Director Xiao, no need. I’ll just go through the standard selection exam process.”

Special talent introduction requires signing a new contract, while the selection exam is a regular personnel adjustment.

Xiao Zhaoxi was setting a trap for Lu Cheng.

Although Xiao Zhaoxi’s offer sounded better, it wouldn’t be Lu Cheng’s choice to leave later.

Xiao Zhaoxi seriously looked at Lu Cheng, after a thorough examination, she smiled and said, ”Alright then...you’re not someone I can keep confined...”

”Because of the relationship with your father-in-law.”
