System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Okay, Teacher Tong.” Lu Cheng agreed without hesitation.

The tendon layering Tong Yuan’an mentioned refers to a state where the tendon is split, and suturing in this condition is more challenging.

Common tendon suturing techniques have a high re-tear rate. Previously, we handled it the usual way due to technical limitations.

But now we have relatively better suturing techniques, so we shouldn’t abandon them. Intentionally increasing the chance of tears.

As long as the specific suturing technique is not displayed in the surgical records, it’s fine.

Lu Cheng immediately called the surgical team, asking someone to take over his shift from the operating room.

When Lu Cheng arrived at the operating room, Tong Yuan’an had almost finished dealing with the severed limb, leaving only the tendon suturing!

”Teacher Tong, did it split into two layers?” Lu Cheng hesitated.

”Yes, so it’s best to use the weaving technique in this case. I’m not very skilled with this technique, after carefully considering it multiple times, I decided to call you over.”

”After all, you’re on duty today.” Tong Yuan’an responded naturally.

If Lu Cheng were resting, he wouldn’t have called him.

Lu Cheng not only developed a quality tendon suturing technique, but he also mastered and learned a wide range of such techniques.

In terms of the weaving suturing technique, Tong Yuan’an never systematically studied it. His skills had reached their peak, and he wouldn’t spend time going back to learn other tendon suturing techniques.

What Tong Yuan’an said means he evaluated the surgical process, with Lu Cheng being the one to perform the actual operation, while the treatment philosophy came from Tong Yuan’an.

”Okay, Teacher Tong.” Lu Cheng obediently followed the weaving technique routine and quickly sutured the two tendons together.

Upon completion, Tong Yuan’an immediately measured the tension of the tendon suturing: ”Not bad, not bad... the more techniques you master, the better you can adapt in any situation.”

”Xiao Lu, it’s comfortable to be a doctor like you geniuses. You just learn the technique and employ it as needed.”

Lu Cheng replied: ”Teacher Tong, I wouldn’t call myself a genius.”

”You’ve won two first prizes, and you still say you’re not a genius? How big of a mind do you have?” Tong Yuan’an spoke warmly, his head bowed.

Lu Cheng’s expression, eyes, and tone were all modest: ”Teacher Tong, those are just provincial first prizes, not national competition ones.”

After the tendon suturing, addressing the vascular bed for replanted digits was next, followed by vascular suturing.

For this part, Tong Yuan’an didn’t trouble ”Lu Cheng” but began himself. He glanced at Lu Cheng: ”You’re likely to stand out in the national competition too!”

”Good research is pursued because, once there’s a breakthrough, it amasses a significant advantage.”

”Technique-wise, if you don’t know, you just don’t know.”

”A good technique can compensate for a lot of basic skill deficiencies.”

”It’s only a matter of time.”

Lu Cheng suddenly said, ”Teacher Tong, I’m not planning to join the upcoming national competition.”

Tong Yuan’an’s head shook rapidly, his double chin jiggling: ”Why? Weren’t you going to make money from it?”

Lu Cheng said, ”That was my plan, but hasn’t the situation changed now?”

”Teacher Tong, you are well aware of the recent happenings in our hospital. I’m afraid if my results are too good, it’ll be hard to leave the County Hospital quietly.”

”When chaos ensues, some people tend to use other matters to divert attention and stabilize the situation.”

”I don’t want to become that conspicuous target.”

The matters Du Qiang told Lu Cheng were clear and understandable.

This is a common tactic used by news outlets and for distraction; when something bad happens in one place, a good distraction is to promote positive events elsewhere.

Is a county hospital doctor winning first place in a provincial skills competition positive? Absolutely.

Then what if they also win first place in the national skills competition?

Once tied too deeply with such publicity, one becomes inevitably caught up.

As the saying goes, heed advice and stay full; Lu Cheng didn’t want to gamble on whether those in leadership were broad-minded enough to prove Du Qiang wrong.

Plans are plans, and they need to adapt to real situations. Lu Cheng didn’t wish to become the core attention-shifting point of Long County People’s Hospital and bind himself with the hospital to the extent of becoming a decision-maker.

”Wouldn’t all your previous efforts go in vain?” Tong Yuan’an could understand, but felt a little regretful.

Lu Cheng laughed: ”Not really a pity, Teacher Tong.”

”You’ve witnessed it yourself; seeing with your own eyes is better than hearsay. Winning the award and surpassing others at least ensures no one underestimates me due to my status anymore.”

”On my first day in Sha City.” Lu Cheng smiled and fell silent.

Tong Yuan’an didn’t mind: ”Xiao Lu, that’s the real world; most people are pragmatic, looking at status.”

Lu Cheng nodded: ”So...if I now suggest teaching your colleagues some techniques to compete, they shouldn’t think I’m being eccentric.”

At this point, Lu Cheng laid out his formal plan: ”Teacher Tong, here’s what I’m thinking.”

”At Union Hospital, I have a mentor participating with tendon suturing techniques and substantial organ suturing techniques.”
