System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Second, achieve results to improve your overall score during competitive advancements.”

”Third, be realistic, earn more money. Ideally, money earned openly and honestly.”

”Can we summarize this into three factors?”

”First, connections; second, progress; third, economy.”

Lu Cheng nodded: ”Pretty much!~”

”Okay, then refer to these three points to analyze why Professor Chen, who has a particularly close relationship with you, chose to collaborate on this project with you.”

”What benefits does he gain from this?” Mu Nanshu ripped off the cover of politeness and pretense.

”Must we be so realistic?” Lu Cheng scratched his temples.

Mu Nanshu’s pretty face showed helplessness: ”Isn’t reality already realistic? Without anyone to lead us, we have to guess like this, guessing while learning, observing while pondering.”

”This kind of thinking was taught to me by my dad.”

”My teacher never taught me these things.”

Lu Cheng tried to think: ”Just wanting another paper?”

”If Professor Chen Song lacks this paper, he wouldn’t be able to achieve a high title at Xiangya Second Hospital!”

Mu Nanshu shook her head: ”While papers are important, even more important is the nature of the project at the core of this paper.”

”An original, breakthrough project could expand the surgical indications of a certain disease, or even redefine certain surgical techniques to some extent.”

”Lu Cheng, really, don’t be mad. What I’m going to say next might hurt you a bit.”

”Because you’ve never worked on a project, you don’t understand the classification of medical projects, which projects are brush-through, which projects have high academic value, and which projects have significant practical value.”

”Alright, let’s think further, what benefits do these projects have for Professor Chen?”

”Firstly, after gaining experience in participating and presiding over such innovative projects, when he applies again, he has an advantage over others and can acquire projects more easily.”

”That’s the reality.”

”Currently, real organs don’t have their own specialized suturing techniques. You’re the first.”

”Based on this suturing technique, including but not limited to Professor Chen Song receiving more surgical assignments upon returning to work, or even making Spleen Preservation Surgery a unique feature of Sha City. Do you agree?”

Lu Cheng didn’t argue back, as he rarely thought about issues like this.

”Since it’s his specialty, who do you think professors at Xiangya Second Hospital will think of first when they encounter similar issues? Are the connections established?”

”One masterstroke, eat all the sky.”

”Secondly, when Professor Chen Song attends academic conferences within and outside the province, won’t he be one of the benchmarks?”

”Of course, you are one of the developers too, but this project doesn’t just benefit you.”

”If you work in E Province later, then in Xiang Province, Professor Chen Song will be the unique expert in Spleen Preservation Surgery. Any professor who talks about it in the context of current surgical contraindications will defer to Professor Chen Song.”

”These are the academic benefits.”

”Third, economically. Winning awards, advancing in titles, research bonuses, freelance surgeries...”

”But these aren’t the real point I want you to consider. What I want you to think is, at this point, what should Professor Chen consider? What might he do?”

A serious Mu Nanshu exuded a unique charm.

Unlike the tsundere ’Little Pepper’ from long ago, nor the naïve, cute girl; rather a mature aura.

Lu Cheng laughed: ”I don’t know either. I feel reaching Professor Chen’s level is enough to bring glory to the ancestors.”

Lu Cheng wasn’t speaking falsely; if he truly reached Professor Chen Song’s level, when he returned home for a family gathering, he would sit at the head of the main table, and his grandparents, uncles, aunts, etc., wouldn’t dare say anything!

Only his father, Lu Nanjia, would reprimand Lu Cheng.

”One might think about spreading his technique, allowing more people to learn it, even building his own circle.”

”For example, the currently emerging minimally invasive techniques are popular among the younger circles, while traditional open techniques are more concentrated among the older generation.”

”He might also consider teaching more students, scaling this surgery, enjoying the feeling of ’establishing a school,’ right?”

”That’s a natural personal ambition that Professor Chen Song can achieve.”

Mu Nanshu said this and paused to drink a glass of water, ”Try to think about it; if you were Professor Zhong Junyun, what might you wish to do?”

Mu Nanshu was very bold, and her questions were even trickier.

Lu Cheng shook his head: ”I don’t dare to think, and can’t think of it. You might as well just tell me.”

Mu Nanshu shook her head: ”Actually, I don’t dare to think either, nor can I imagine.”

”It’s pure speculation. I guess, for a professor like Zhong, he might aim to tackle some incurable diseases.”

”I’m just guessing. Most professors might think about how to improve current surgeries.”

”Such as tendon suturing, better tendon suturing, even better tendon suturing.”

”And the top experts in every field might think about how to turn diseases currently deemed untreatable or incurable into treatable ones.”

”It’s all connected to the problem we discussed a long time ago.”

”The theoretical difficulty from 0 to 1 is infinite.”

”Professor Chen would likely consider finding some students and building his team. What about Professor Zhong?”
