Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Seeing the somewhat comical expression of Clotho Mira, Emperor Luo Hui stood frozen, his lips trembling slightly, not waiting for anyone else’s response:

”Chilom, tell me, quickly, tell me, what is all this about?”

Staring at Emperor Luo Hui, Chilom sighed:

”The reason we went to war with Wansheng Country is entirely due to the Demon King’s conspiracy.

Your Majesty, do you remember receiving reports of Enchanting Demons appearing?

They are likely the Demon King’s vanguard..... They appeared on this continent very early on.

That slip-up at the time was deliberate, deliberately to draw the Hero over there; otherwise, the Hero would have exposed the Enchanting Demons lurking in the royal capital.

The Enchanting Demons’ goal is to cause conflicts among the countries on the continent, weakening the forces on the continent from within.

During this over nine-year, nearly ten-year-long war, countless excellent soldiers from both us and the Beastmen have died in battle.

The two countries have expended a tremendous amount of manpower and resources on this war, yet victory is still undecided, and this is precisely because of their interference.

We don’t know where the Demon King will attack from, but even a fool knows to pick the weakest target.

They will definitely invade starting with the countries devastated by war and rendered defenseless.

Our country and Wansheng Republic are first on the list.

Clearly, it’s such a simple logic, clearly, the Demon King’s arrival is imminent, why can’t the conflicts between the two countries come to a halt!

Why is that? Are you underestimating the Demon King?

Or is someone guiding you to ignore the Demon King?”

Emperor Luo Hui bitterly clenched his teeth, unable to accept what Chilom had said:

”Then how do you explain the ancient prophecy?

That prophecy foretold that we and the Subhumans will always stand opposed, and if we don’t eliminate the Subhumans, the Humans will surely be wiped out by them.

It was precisely because of that prophecy that I finally made up my mind to start the war!”

Chilom’s gaze seemed to pierce through Luo Hui as he slowly began, ”Your Majesty, exactly who said such things to you?

Who told you that Subhumans will replace Humans?

And who gave you that understanding?”

Emperor Luo Hui looked towards the team responsible for the ruins in the corner. The person in charge of the ruins, along with several officials, fell to their knees tremblingly, saying:

”Your Majesty, the translation of the ancient texts should originally have reserved opinions.

We didn’t know what emotions the author had when writing the article; we needed to verify from multiple aspects to settle on the general interpretation of the translation.

At that time, I was definitely manipulated by someone, which led me to say such things in front of Your Majesty, and I’m asking for Your Majesty’s forgiveness.”

After hearing this, Emperor Luo Hui was momentarily at a loss as to what to do, even envious of those officials freed from the influence of the Charm.

If even he had been charmed, he could have now smiled at those present and said, ”Damn Enchanting Demons, I must root you all out and burn you.”

But Emperor Luo Hui was very clear; he had never been controlled by Enchanting Demons.

Even if Enchanting Demons infiltrated the country’s institutions, the final decisions were made by him.

Believing in slander, starting a war, pushing his own country into the Abyss, it was still him.

Now he had no way to brazenly say, ”Since everyone has been charmed, let’s think of a way to expel the Enchanting Demons from this country, halt the war, and unite with the Beastmen to jointly fight the Demon King.

Even if the ministers here could accept it... would the populace accept it? Would the soldiers who died on the battlefield, still believing the Empire is fighting on the front line, accept it?

Would the Beastmen, who have suffered the ravages of war, accept it?

It couldn’t stop anymore.

Emperor Luo Hui was at a loss, unable to think of a way to resolve so many issues at once, and internally began to flee:

”You all said that back then, actually, that was what you truly thought, right!

The Subhumans would ultimately wage war on us Humans, replacing us, and we simply struck first.

You just hid the truth you believed in your hearts, and the Enchanting Demons only exposed your inner thoughts to me, so I started this war.

Speak! Isn’t that what you thought? It absolutely is what you thought, isn’t it!

Don’t be afraid, tell me your true thoughts.

I said, quickly tell me your real thoughts!

Hurry and tell me!

Tell me, starting this war was the right thing to do!”

The members of the ruins research group pressed their foreheads to the cold floor, not uttering a word.

Even if they were bewitched by the Enchanting Demons, the words they’ve said indirectly led to this war.

To comply with the Emperor, they could say the Emperor was right, but once it’s proven they were lying, they would be headed for execution.

Not answering now would at most make the Emperor throw a fit and then dismiss them, which was far better than losing their lives.

Knowing which is more important, each of them understood clearly.

”Why aren’t you speaking? I’m asking you something!” Emperor Luo Hui grinned and bared his teeth, his fist clenched tightly.

Chilom couldn’t help but burst into laughter, directly calling out the Emperor’s name:

”Hahahaha.

Luo Hui, you’ve hardly changed since before.

I advise you to find a mirror and take a good look at how pitiful you look now.

Can this even be called the emperor of this country?

Let me tell you.

Even if that prophecy is true, it has long since been fulfilled.

”

Luo Hui grabbed his forehead with one hand, smiling as if finding a bit of hope: ”Fulfilled? How could that be! You’re really muddleheaded. We Humans, aren’t we all standing here right now?”

Chilom stood upright, stifling his laughter and speaking with utter seriousness:

”Then it depends on how Your Majesty defines Humans.

But however Your Majesty defines Humans, it’s likely different from the author of that ancient text.

The person who wrote that may have lived during the great wars of the gods, might have been one of the creators of the ruins.

The Humans they defined were the truly pure Humans.

We...well...

Your Majesty, when do you think Humans started living together with various Subhumans?

That’s an incalculably distant past; even if Subhumans were driven out by us, it doesn’t change the fact that they were once widespread in this world.

Since they were widespread in this world, regardless of the number, intermarriage between Subhumans and Humans was inevitable.

The offspring of Subhumans and Humans, marrying with Humans generation after generation, the features on their bodies gradually diminish until they’re no different from Humans.

After many generations, if you place the offspring of Human-Subhuman marriages alongside ordinary Humans, can you still tell them apart?

If there’s no way to tell them apart, there’s also no way to stop the fusion of Subhuman and Human bloodlines...

The blood of Humans now is already impure long ago.

Ancient humans, aware of this, wrote that so-called ancient prophecy.

Perhaps, in the view of ancient humans, we are the ’filthy’, ’savage’, ’human-like but disgusting’ Subhumans.”

Emperor Luo Hui extended his hand, covering his ears, and said:

”Stop talking... stop talking, I won’t admit it.”

Chilom shook his head: ”Whether you admit it or not, it doesn’t change the facts.

Besides, although you’re consciously ignoring it, giant dragons also seem to be a kind of Subhuman.

In the future, will there really be Humans capable of defeating such a monster?

Even if all the humans die, the giant dragons will probably still soar the skies.

All of this, in the end, is nothing but you deceiving yourself.”
