Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

After a series of shared struggles, both the human and the slime had grown in strength, found reliable companions, and finally, were able to confront the Slime Kingdom.

They found an underground passage leading to the Slime Kingdom, cut through thorns and thistles, defeated enemy after enemy, uncovered conspiracy after conspiracy, and ultimately helped the Slime Prince to restore his kingdom.

The Slime Prince was moved to tears, erected a statue for the first young man he met, and led his family to ally with him, eventually becoming a formidable force against the Demon King.

Yang Yu always thought the story would unfold like this.

The simple Slime Kingdom could not have a too complex storyline, and even if there were, it shouldn’t be very different from what Yang Yu imagined.

In reality, however, things gave Yang Yu a slap in the face.

The slime indeed wouldn’t have a complex storyline; they simply had nothing much going on.

Yang Yu knocked on his own head, forcing a smile, holding onto the last shred of hope:

”Then how do you explain appearing near my village? That area is full of ordinary slimes, not a place where a Royal Slime like you would appear.”

”To me, that place is just like my backyard. I appear wherever I want, and you have no control over it.” He Meng stuck her tongue out at Yang Yu.

”What’s the reason for following me so straightforwardly?

I admit you were strong at that time, having been through so many battles. You should have realized that in this world, you are not overwhelmingly strong.

Even if you were wandering your own backyard, a slime should have reminded you that the outside world is dangerous.

Thinking about it, you wouldn’t have followed me so straightforwardly.”

Upon hearing Yang Yu say this, He Meng, whose anger had slightly subsided, flared up again: ”The reason I followed you so straightforwardly was because of you!

At first, you gave me a clover, and I thought you wanted to be friends, but then you attacked me without saying a word.

At that time, you truly wanted my life. If you hadn’t taken out the seven-leaf clover in the end, making me think you wanted to be friends, I would have surely ended you.

Yet you showed no gratitude, and my established equal contract failed...

Luckily, I reacted in time and turned it into a Blood Contract, otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

There’s no way you’d be standing here leisurely, talking to me.”

Recalling the initial fight with He Meng, I was really almost dead at that time.

This world is real.

Ending up in this world likely means the original me in the previous world has died...

Speaking of which, what was I doing before dying?

...Seemed like I was playing a game for three days straight.

Before that, my routines were irregular... This outcome isn’t surprising.

Initially, I truly thought this was just a game, fully experiencing everything with a gaming mindset.

Fighting with He Meng until the last moment, I never thought I would have a brush with Death.

He Meng spared me at that time, not pursuing, indeed saving my life.

”Yeah, I really must thank you back then. At least now, I sincerely apologize to you.”

Sensing the change in Yang Yu’s attitude, He Meng’s demeanor also shifted: ”In any case, the Blood Contract is a quite complex contract.

If the two contracted individuals are too far apart, a force will make the contractee constantly think of the contractor, prompting him to seek the contractor’s shelter.

If you and I are too far apart, your images will start appearing in my head, buzzing incessantly.

I don’t want to end up like that...

Besides, your planted clover is really delicious.”

”So, are you saying you’re just following me to fill your belly? No, you mentioned before that you saw me as a friend...”

Not sure if it was an illusion, but Yang Yu seemed to see He Meng’s little face blush: ”Really, you’re so noisy. Yes, following you initially to fill my stomach, I admit it, okay? I just started to see you differently, and now you want to make my impression of you drop to freezing?”

Yang Yu laughed, ”Of course not, I’m just glad I could fill your belly.”

The twisted expression on He Meng’s face relaxed, unable to figure out what to say for a moment; in the end, she only answered: ”Thanks for the meal.”

”Just to confirm, you really don’t have any deep-seated grudges or troubles? The Slime Kingdom has no issues either?”

”We’ve always lived underground, always at peace with the world.

Unlike you humans and beastmen, who fight non-stop every day.

Don’t assume that because I left the Slime Kingdom easily, something happened there similar to the changes in the Human World.

The Slime Kingdom, to you, is practically an ideal land... ”

After that, He Meng continued talking endlessly, as if trying to make up for almost two years’ worth of things she wanted to say to Yang Yu and others.

After finishing with Yang Yu, she talked with Bai Jin, then with Iyas; finally, He Meng, having spoken too much, turned back into a slime and collapsed, limp, on Bai Jin’s lap, bringing the noisy day to a close.

That night, Yang Yu carefully drafted an enhancement plan tailored for He Meng.

And then, before he knew it, the next day arrived.

He Meng was even smarter than imagined; maybe she could master things proficiently with just a little guidance.

Glancing at Yang Yu’s training list, He Meng suddenly felt a chill.

Even though she had seen similar lists before, it wasn’t until it was her turn that He Meng realized just how seriously Yang Yu took improving his teammates.

He Meng honestly admitted to herself that she could never do as Yang Yu does.

Despite the chill, He Meng still agreed half reluctantly to the strengthening plan on the list.

He Meng’s third transformation was even smoother, almost instantaneous.

The first challenge Yang Yu gave to He Meng was endurance. Although [Mimicry] and [Color Simulation] didn’t have time limits, maintaining them without enough experience was still a bit difficult. Moreover, He Meng needed to fight in Human Form afterward.

She must at least be able to maintain Human Form after being knocked down five times.

The best training method is naturally actual combat.

Since He Meng always risked reverting to slime form, Yang Yu spent a large sum to book an inn, informing them he liked practicing swordsmanship in his room, and would compensate upfront for any damages.

The inn that took them in naturally beamed with joy, letting Yang Yu cause any ruckus he wanted, even if it meant tearing down two or three rooms, it wasn’t an issue.

With permission granted, Yang Yu didn’t hold back, giving He Meng one-on-one targeted training.

As Yang Yu expected, in Human Form, He Meng was incredibly weak, with strength not even one-tenth of her slime form.

There were many skills that worked for Slime Form He Meng but felt quite awkward in Human Form.

Fortunately, Yang Yu already had solutions prepared.

Days went by like this, consumed in training.

Before anyone knew it, five days had passed again.
