Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

The servant was ordered to prepare some exquisite desserts and red tea, and Latis also changed into a beautiful outfit.

Although it had been a long time since they last met, upon seeing Yang Yu, Latis felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity with him, as if they had just met recently.

As for the others around Yang Yu, Latis didn’t particularly pay attention. Seeing them, she thought she might have seen them somewhere before, yet she wasn’t sure. The impression was extremely vague.

Politely greeting them, Yang Yu and Latis began to converse.

Starting with simple pleasantries, it wasn’t long before they were chatting like friends who hadn’t seen each other in ages, discussing their recent situations. Yang Yu also expressed Tico’s grievances about Latis leaving without saying goodbye.

Seeing it was about time, Yang Yu shifted the conversation to the reason for their meeting.

The previous acquaintance between Yang Yu and Latis wasn’t as deep as imagined. They had only met a few times, so visiting as a friend seemed somewhat pretentious.

Yang Yu didn’t plan to beat around the bush.

Before explaining the purpose of his visit, he reiterated the fabricated details to Latis.

Putting down her teacup, Latis was taken aback by what Yang Yu said:

”Are you serious? Do you truly want to assist us in expelling the subhumans from this country?”

Yang Yu, filled with righteous indignation, spoke forcefully:

”Of course, we must drive those beastmen out of this country and make them suffer.

I’ve heard of the beastmen’s brutality.

We absolutely cannot allow them to run rampant in this country.

If we let them run wild, blood will surely flow in rivers.”

This statement seemed to unlock a hidden code within Latis, transforming her formerly gloomy eyes into an indescribable joy:

”I’m glad we share the same thoughts.”

Scratching his cheek, Yang Yu said, slightly embarrassedly:

”Let’s discuss the main business.

Under normal circumstances, I would have to start as a new recruit.

But starting as a new recruit doesn’t satisfy my eagerness to quickly serve the country.

This time, I specifically came to visit you.

Besides the casual chat, I also wanted to see if you could fulfill the promise you made before.”

Latis laughed: ”It’s impressive that you still remember such a distant matter. That must have been almost two years ago.

At that time, I did say that if you wanted to join us, you were always welcome.

Your reaction back then is still vivid in my memory.

Until now, I thought you would just laugh it off.”

Yang Yu frowned, his eyes dimmed:

”After all, I didn’t understand your country and the beastmen’s situation before...

If there’s a change of mind, please let me know, so I don’t have to waste my breath.”

Opening the folded fan in her hand to cover her lips, Latis said: ”As always, you’re so frank.

The words I said at that time were not a joke.

After all, I’m the Third Princess of the Luo Ze Empire, and I’ve always been true to my words.

But... the current situation is special. Even I cannot just casually promote you to an important position.”

”I understand, so my requirements are not high. I’d be content just starting slightly above an ordinary soldier.”

Latis closed her folded fan: ”I can meet that requirement.

As long as you make significant achievements in this war, we will bestow upon you the rewards you deserve.

Allows you to possess glory and rights commensurate with your prowess.

Our empire has always valued strength.

If you want to rise to a higher position, you need to demonstrate strong capability. If your abilities are formidable, convincing others will be much easier.

Coincidentally, there will be a new recruit mobilization assembly in a few days, and I’ll arrange for you to attend.

That will be your best opportunity to showcase your skills.”

Yang Yu raised his hand awkwardly and said: ”If you’re talking about that group of soldiers at the training ground, I’ve already completed it, just upon enlisting yesterday...”

Latis first fell into silence, then her face showed an incredulous expression of ”Are you kidding me? You shouldn’t be serious?”

Then, citing convenience, Latis excused herself from the table and asked the servants to look into the matter.

The result was that Yang Yu had indeed taken down all the new recruits training at the training ground yesterday, seemingly with ease, without much effort.

Upon returning, Latis cleared her throat, awkwardly saying:

”Your strength is indeed far beyond ordinary, I underestimated you earlier... May I ask, what is your rating?”

”If you’re referring to the soldiers’ grading, it’s S-Class.”

Latis became even more shocked, her lips murmuring involuntarily: ”S-Class...”

Yang Yu laughed: ”After all, before coming here, we were also working as adventurers. Without some skill, there would be no way to survive battles against various ferocious demons.”

Concealing the awkwardness on her face, Latis said: ”You’ve got a point.

If your rating is S-Class, then starting as a General is the minimum.

Progressing further would require accumulating military merits.”

”Reaching General ranks is more than I could have hoped for.

The rest will have to depend on my own abilities.

I’d be grateful for your assistance, Princess.”

While expressing gratitude, Yang Yu retrieved a letter from the system and handed it to Latis:

”I’ve finished speaking about my affairs. There’s also one more thing... Elder Chilom asked me to deliver this letter to you.”

Accepting the letter and reading it, Latis’ eyes widened in surprise once again.

The letter stated that if Yang Yu’s military rank could be elevated to Vice General and he could be introduced to other high-ranking officials to establish connections, Chilom would donate a significant sum of assets to serve as wartime funds for the Luo Ze Empire.

This was a major event.

Regardless of whether Yang Yu was receiving such attention due to a blood relationship with Chilom, gaining Chilom’s strong support meant that logistics would never be a concern again.

The opportunity the Luo Ze Royal Family had long dreamed of was finally within reach.

Latis did not dare to be negligent, inquiring whether Yang Yu was aware of the contents of the letter. Yang Yu stated he was completely unaware, only mentioning how he had been well taken care of by Chilom.

Latis asked Yang Yu to wait a moment and immediately delivered the letter to her father, Emperor Luo Hui.

As expected, Yang Yu was summoned by the Luo Ze Emperor.

The Emperor asked Yang Yu a series of questions, such as ”How do you think this war can be won?” and ”How should discord and disputes within the troops be handled?”

Yang Yu conducted himself graciously, displaying elegant etiquette and sharing his views on the Luo Ze Emperor’s queries.

After a series of questions and answers, the emperor of the Luo Ze Empire had Yang Yu step down and separately consulted the opinions of the Eldest Prince and the Second Prince.

After deliberating for a long time, Emperor Luo Hui finally decided to honor Chilom’s request, allowing Yang Yu to start as Vice General.
