Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Staring at the young man before him, even now, Chilom couldn’t believe Yang Yu was the Colorful-haired Masked Man.

But Chilom had no choice but to believe, as this kid knew too much. To call him an outsider wouldn’t be believable at all.

If Yang Yu truly is the Colorful-haired Masked Man, just by his ability to change the tide of battle multiple times, working with him might actually uncover a path to peace.

The problem is, like himself just now, the citizens or soldiers of the Luo Ze Empire certainly wouldn’t accept the Colorful-haired Masked Man, who once devised such demon-like plans, as an ally.

”I understand your concerns.”

Yang Yu smiled and said:

”As long as my identity as the Colorful-haired Masked Man isn’t unexpectedly exposed, it’ll be fine.

I have always fought with a mask on, anticipating such a day might come.

My real face has hardly been exposed to Luo Ze’s troops.

That’s why I can swagger through checkpoints and stand here today.”

Chilom still worriedly asked:

”What about the Beastmen?

The Beastmen have keen senses; even if you hide your appearance with a mask, they surely remember your scent well.

As soon as you enter the battlefield, your identity will be exposed.

Or are you planning to manipulate everything from behind the scenes?”

”I also want to stay behind the scenes, but there are some things only I can do.”

Yang Yu chuckled,

”Returning to the battlefield is an integral part of the plan, and for that, I need your help.”

Still uneasy, Chilom spoke up:

”Tell me, the general direction of your plan.

How do you intend to get the fiercely battling sides to stop?”

”Just like before when I made Luo Ze’s soldiers lose the will to fight, now I need to make the Beastman soldiers lose their will to fight.”

”And after they’ve lost the will to fight, then what?

By then, the Luo Ze Empire, now forced into defense, will certainly be blinded by its ambitions and launch a massive attack on the Wansheng Republic.

You’ve read the newspapers; both countries have published the same translations.

If there’s no way to deal with that translation, one side between humans and subhumans will inevitably be wiped out.

Hatred has already taken deep root in everyone’s heart.....”

Saying this, Chilom’s face was full of bitterness, yet Yang Yu’s words immediately broke this bitterness:

”It’s not deeply rooted yet. As long as we set the stage right, this problem is actually the easiest to solve.”

”You’re speaking so lightly...”

”It’s not light at all.

Hint: The translation does not have just one way to interpret it.

Who gave this current interpretation?

It’s the officialdom of this country.

They used the topic ’Subhumans will eventually replace humans’ to explain the need to wage war on the Wansheng Republic.

Where did they get their explanation from?

With only one side’s story, it’s unconvincing.

And this can precisely be the target for attack.”

Hearing Yang Yu’s words, Chilom’s eyes lit up:

”I suddenly understand what you mean.

Are you planning to take control of the distribution channels for information, take control of the interpretation rights of the translation, and make the people of the Luo Ze Empire realize that no matter how much they fight subhumans now, it won’t change the ’future’.

Therefore, also diminish their fighting spirit?”

”That’s right, when both armies lack the will to fight, steering towards peace becomes much easier.

Unfortunately, the people secretly controlling this country will not allow our plan to proceed.”

Yang Yu’s words suddenly awakened Chilom, indeed there was such a problem to deal with, that group lurking in the shadows always finding ways to control others.

The trouble is, the Peace Faction people are totally unaware that those people are being controlled, they can only be cautious and even more cautious.

If they do not expose the group who can control others, they will be constrained everywhere.

However, the Peace Faction made considerable efforts to realize that their country had already been infiltrated by unknown forces...

How exactly did Yang Yu know about the manipulations?

Before Chilom could ask, Yang Yu provided the answer:

”I have the ability to see who has been charmed and who hasn’t. This is also a power the relic endowed me with.

On the battlefield, I glimpsed a few people influenced by charm.

A Luo Ze Elite named Kui Yi, especially affected.

During negotiations, there were several negotiators controlled among the negotiating team.”

Chilom couldn’t help but tightly grasp his chef’s hat:

”That many.....just what is happening in this country...”

Yang Yu placed two bottles of deep blue Potions on the table,

”Precisely because I saw that many people in your country were being controlled, before coming here, I spent a little time preparing Potions that can protect one from being controlled.

Originally I planned to keep both bottles for myself, but considering the collaboration, Mr. Chilom’s task is even more arduous than I imagined, I now offer one bottle to you.

After we both drink, we have a month of free action period without worry of being controlled.”

Pushing one bottle of Potion towards Chilom, Yang Yu seriously said: ”Next, let me elaborate on part of my plan.

To return to the battlefield and discern who has been charmed by Enchanting Demons,

I need you to introduce me into the army, and allow me as much access to people in high places as possible.

My partners and I found a method to dispel strong charms.

When the time is right, I will wash away their charm status entirely.

Then place all the blame on the Enchanting Demons.

At that time, with just a little manipulation, saying those who still support the war are controlled by Enchanting Demons, and we need stronger means to lift control, you can lock them up...

By then, there won’t be any voices against peace.”

Knowing Yang Yu’s pre-planned strategy, Chilom fell into silence, temporarily unsure of what choice to make.

Yang Yu whispered into Chilom’s ear:

”You better think this through.

Once you let this chance slip by, it won’t come again.

If you don’t believe I’m on the same side, truly wanting to stop this war, I’ll leave now and swear never to get involved again.

The fate of these two countries, I won’t care about.”

Upon hearing Yang Yu’s words, Chilom’s silence prolonged.

After a while, Chilom’s cooking knife moved again, saying:

”Now there’s nothing else to be done.

I’ll trust you, I’ll cooperate earnestly with you.

But if you dare deceive me, the consequences will be dire.”

”How could I dare deceive my cash cow?

In the future, I’ll still need money from you in many places; I wouldn’t want to waste time fretting over money.”

Yang Yu joked,

”We’ve provided all the intelligence and ideas from our side.

Now, let’s see, Mr. Chilom, just how much intelligence has your side gathered?

Knowing your situation will help us negotiate the planning details.”
