Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 348: Chapter 348: We... We Still Have a Chance

These mountain bandits could only be considered lackeys; not one of them had a single attribute that surpassed one hundred.

The strongest mountain bandit leader had nearly two hundred Strength but had just been blown to death by a fatal critical hit from Iyas.

As a result, the entire mountain bandit troop was completely intimidated by Iyas.

The bandits laid down their weapons and prostrated on the ground as a sign of submission, then following Iyas’s command, they dismantled the roadblocks they had not so easily reinforced.

Yang Yu’s gaze was not on the bandits busy dismantling the roadblocks but instead, he slightly turned his body and glanced toward Iyas out of the corner of his eye.

Iyas’s hand, drawn with the bow, trembled slightly, her brows tightly knitted, her blue eyes filled with dissatisfaction and anger.

The roar she had just let out seemed as if she wanted to release all the negative emotions accumulated in her heart, but no matter what she did, she couldn’t calm the turmoil within.

Yang Yu remained silent, continuing to observe Iyas with his peripheral vision.

He knew very well that, in her current state, Iyas would probably find it difficult to accept the new method he had come up with.

Even if he explained the whole situation in detail, it probably wouldn’t be that simple to get her to agree.

At times like this, a little seasoning was needed, someone to add fuel to the fire.

While waiting for the roadblocks to be dismantled, Yang Yu did not discuss the follow-up plans, and Iyas, still holding the bow, did not continue to ask further questions.

Soon after, a carriage appeared behind them, and seated on it was the bodyguard-like figure they had seen before they left Tansen.

This group of people in black had ultimately followed.

Initially, they had wanted to give up pursuing Yang Yu when they saw the fleet-footed Lotcar, but upon seeing that Yang Yu was heading toward the area where mountain bandits often lurked, they changed their minds.

They decided it wasn’t too late to give up chasing after they reached the mountain range where the bandits commonly roamed.

Thus, they took a carriage and pursued in the direction in which Yang Yu had fled.

And as they had anticipated, Yang Yu and his group had stopped due to the bandits’ obstruction.

Although these people in black did not know exactly what Yang Yu had done to aggravate the Chaoyang Chamber of Commerce, they were required to carry out their orders diligently.

Moreover, there was an additional reward for completing the task, a rare opportunity for promotion and a raise; naturally, they had to work hard.

”Drop your weapons, people over there. Our auction house’s person in charge wants to meet you. If you don’t want to suffer, just obediently come with us.”

Iyas instantly pointed her bow and arrows at the tall figures in black, not knowing what exactly Yang Yu had done, but she could clearly feel the malicious intent of the newcomers.

Intuition told Iyas that if they did as told, they would be walking straight into a trap.

The faces of the people in black showed no sign of fear, as they continued to issue their last ultimatum while advising and walking toward Yang Yu and his group.

Iyas, too, warned them not to come any closer, but the men in black turned a deaf ear and kept advancing toward her at their own pace.

Releasing the bowstring, a special glow flashed upon the arrowhead, and the arrow cut through the air with a whistle, dragging a silvery-white tail as it surged towards the men in black.

Without dodging or altering their course, the leading man in black’s fist lit up with a green glow, and then, with seeming ease, caught the incoming arrow.

Iyas had no time for surprise, immediately taking out a second arrow, ready to shoot.

Someone in the midst of the mountain bandits yelled, ”This is a rare opportunity! They’ve been forced here by their pursuers, and if we can block their way out, we can avenge our boss!”

Upon hearing this, the bandits felt there was some sense to the idea, realizing there was no better chance for revenge than now if they could flank Yang Yu and his group from both sides along with those who also harbored hatred for them.

Even if Yang Yu and his team had great abilities, with no way out, they had no chance of escape.

The bandits disassembling the roadblock immediately halved in number, as they picked up their weapons and sharpened them in preparation to confront Yang Yu and his comrades.

Only a few hesitant ones continued to dismantle the barricade in silence, considering that if they couldn’t overcome their boss by sheer numbers, they too might lose their lives as he did.

Jumping down from the carriage, Yang Yu pulled out his shield and sword and said to Bai Jin, ”Bai Jin, cast ’Frost Nova’ at maximum power. I’ll buy us some time and deal with the minions.”

”Okay.”

Without further question, Bai Jin stood up from the carriage and began chanting magic, as a silvery white array formed at the end of her magic wand.

The weaving process would last about ten seconds. Once completed, the vast ice magic would sweep away the approaching mountain bandits and at the same time slow down the movements of the men in black.

A few of the men in black seemed to pick up on Yang Yu’s intentions and rushed toward the carriage.

Taking that as their signal, the mountain bandits also roared and charged forward. Yang Yu just gave Lotcar a glance,

”Lotcar, cover us.”

Lotcar nodded. Despite the difficulty of fighting with the carriage to his back, he could still deal with the enemies ahead with ease.

Nevertheless, Lotcar was somewhat worried for Yang Yu.

Lotcar could sense the impressive aura from the several men, and he feared that Yang Yu, fighting alone, would be at a disadvantage.

But looking at the man who once defeated him with ease, Lotcar felt that under these current circumstances, only Yang Yu could prevent those men in black from getting close.

If that young lady could just remain a bit calmer and cooperate with Yang Yu, their efforts might be even more effective, but...

Lotcar’s gaze reflected Iyas, who was casting skills solely focused on her emotions, oblivious to the others around her.

Yang Yu likely had noticed this too, which is why he didn’t ask for her help with defensive coordination.

Lotcar admitted that Yang Yu was strong, but the more so he was, the less Lotcar could understand why Yang Yu would keep someone like Iyas by his side.

Lone wolf, the phrase sounded cool and powerful.

But in a team hunt, there was no need for a lone wolf who ignored team strategy; it would only decrease hunting efficiency and might even starve the whole group.

Well, perhaps he saw something special in that woman and wanted her to become his true partner.

Whether she appreciated it or not was not for him to ponder.

This man should be able to make the right decisions at the right time.

What I need to do now is to carry out the tasks he has entrusted to me.

Lotcar opened up his posture, and his silvery white mane bristled instantly, causing his body to bulk up a bit.

Following that, Lotcar showed his sharp teeth, emitting a low threatening growl as if he were ready to tear to shreds any enemy daring to step into his attack range.
