Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 307: Chapter 307: Don’t Always Aim to be the Strongest in the World

The day before yesterday, when Yang Yu had a conflict with the Hero, Princess Eena was not far away.

Yang Yu’s peripheral vision was also aware of the princess from Serti.

But no matter how the relationship between Yang Yu and the Hero deteriorated, Princess Eena simply watched quietly the entire time, not saying a word, without any biased statements, allowing the situation to unfold.

This struck Yang Yu as odd.

Under those circumstances, it would be reasonable for the princess to say something favoring the Hero.

Princess Eena participated in the Library Conference using the pseudonym ”Little Love.”

Clearly, she did not want others to know her true identity.

Could it be that she was also trying to keep her identity secret from the Hero?

According to a typical storyline, the princess must harbor some unspeakable purpose.

Looking at Princess Eena’s somewhat naive attire, Yang Yu had a premonition that this woman might be even more difficult to deal with than the Hero.

Falling short of making it to the quarterfinals, Iyas returned to the spectators’ stand with a relaxed expression.

Making it that far had already completely exceeded Iyas’ expectations, as her opponents were not very strong, and she did not perform exceptionally well, which had nearly allowed her to enter the top eight.

Bai Jin’s matches were remarkable. Despite only winning two, in each one, Bai Jin had given it her all, displaying everything she had learned before Yang Yu.

In fact, Yang Yu had already checked what skills Bai Jin had learned through the Attribute panel.

[Chant Simplification]—Significantly reduces the casting time for spells, allowing regular attack spells to be cast as swiftly as sword swings, one of the prerequisite skills for [No Chanting].

[Lightweight]—Makes the body lighter, one of the prerequisite skills for learning Flying Magic.

[Magic Protection]—Wraps oneself in magical light to reduce incoming damage and ensure the Mage’s survival.

[Ice Spear Technique]—Large-scale Frost Ice Arrow.

[Frost Nova]—Wide-range AOE with slowing and freezing effects, its scope expands with increased use of Magic Power. This was precisely the kind of powerful AOE needed in a team.

Bai Jin had spent considerable time and effort learning these skills.

She had to memorize each skill repeatedly, practice over and over, before she finally grasped the essence of each skill.

Although not perfect, Bai Jin was already proficient with these skills when she used them. Had it not been for facing Tico in the last match, Bai Jin might actually have had a chance to make it to the quarterfinals.

However, it was precisely because of Tico’s participation that the women’s competition had ended early.

Each match in the women’s division lasted on average no more than five minutes. As the sun reached high noon, Tico effortlessly claimed the top spot.

A thirty-minute intermission at noon, then the men’s competition began.

All matches in the Library Conference were to be completed within one day, also to swiftly coordinate with Fairyland after the competition’s conclusion.

Only members of the Library were spectators, and not many people watched in the morning.

To put it figuratively, the All Things Library is like a university, and the Library Conference is like an intramural race organized by the university. If everyone already knows who the fastest runner in the school is without having to watch, why bother going to the event?

No one holds expectations for a match without suspense.

In the afternoon, groups of Library members flooded into the central hall, filling the venue to capacity.

The reason so many people came wasn’t just because the champion of the men’s division was uncertain, but also because Yang Yu had participated in this edition of the Library Conference.

They wanted to see whether Yang Yu would advance using his true strength, in a one-on-one situation, or if he would surprise everyone with some kind of strange secret weapon.

Equally matched fights or battles where the details are unknown are very attractive.

Historically, there had been many proposals to commercialize the Library Conference, turning it into a human event corresponding to the Dragon God Conference, but this idea was eventually dropped.

The dragons ruled over a vast and boundless nation with abundant resources and naturally appeared generous. Not only could they offer various treasures as prizes, but they could also offer the essence of the Dragon Clan, an item of immeasurable value, as a reward.

In contrast, the All Things Library, despite having various sources of income such as knowledge fees, advertising fees, martial arts exam fees, land use fees, etc., the earnings were primarily used to maintain the Library’s operations, and the surplus each year wasn’t much.

Considering the Library’s continued expansion, the All Things Library simply didn’t have the extra money to organize an event as grand as the Dragon God Conference.

Surely they couldn’t lure people from all over the world with an unlimited reading card valid for many years, could they?

That was unrealistic.

In the end, they simply abandoned the idea of transforming the Library Conference into an event comparable to the Dragon God Conference and continued to maintain it at the level of a school sports meeting.

After eating some dry food, Yang Yu left the stands and went to the resting room to prepare, as the Library Conference resumed with renewed vigor.

The Library Conference was surprisingly free-form; contestants only needed to complete their matches and could choose to return to the stands to watch the other participants’ spectacular performances, gather information on opponents, and study their weaknesses.

Yang Yu was Red Number Ten and had about half an hour before his turn.

He had ample time to observe the next match, but Yang Yu had no interest in watching the brawls between NPCs that could not become his opponents.

Time passed by second by second, and after a lengthy wait, Yang Yu’s match finally arrived.

Upon hearing the attendant call out his number, Yang Yu followed them out, just as he had done for his previous martial arts exam, arriving in the familiar martial arts examination arena, and his opponent gradually emerged from the opposite gate.

The red cape fluttered in the air with every resounding step; as soon as Vorix appeared, many girls who had been forcibly brought to watch couldn’t take their eyes off him.

”Fate’s hand is always ready to deliver a stinging slap; with so many people, why did it have to pick the Hero as my opponent?”

Yang Yu internally marveled but showed a faint smile on his face as he looked at the Hero’s attribute values,

[Attributes

When Yang Yu first got into RPGs, he also liked to stack attribute points on a single attribute.

But in a game this close to reality, stacking attributes on a single attribute was quite a foolish move.
