Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 306: Chapter 306: Dare to Compete with Me?

To alleviate the fatigue of the past few days and to achieve a good result at the Library Conference, Yang Yu took Bai Jin and Iyas to the library’s city district the day before the Library Conference started to rest and have fun for a day.

During this time, Yang Yu also acquired new weapons and shields and updated his equipment.

The All Things Library is located in the center of the Human Three Kingdoms, with convenient transportation in all directions, attracting many officials and dignitaries. Many renowned brands, even if they do not make much profit, would open a store here and present their best products to expand their business opportunities.

Finding an excellent weapon shop here was not a difficult task.

Yang Yu found several shops selling Purple Quality weapons, providing him—a person who rarely drew any good equipment—the opportunity to make a choice.

After researching, comparing, and bargaining, Yang Yu eventually bought two Purple Quality swords and a Purple Quality shield for a price of 2.2 million. He also fulfilled the promise he made to Bai Jin by purchasing a Purple Quality necklace that increased mana capacity and Intelligence.

As for Iyas, Yang Yu also got her a better bow, but Iyas still clung to the fancy bow in Yang Yu’s inventory, constantly bringing it up whenever she had the chance, eager for Yang Yu to give it to her soon.

Yang Yu said, ”You’re already so beautiful, don’t be too greedy.”

Besides equipment, Yang Yu also acquired many other things. The hard-earned money was almost all spent on practical resources, leaving only a portion for daily expenses.

After enjoying a day in the city district, Yang Yu returned to the living area before sunset. He visited Chilom, Tico, Fuer, and Ying Luo in turn, sharing his plans with them and bidding them farewell.

At the same time, Yang Yu also urged Lotcar to take the time to say goodbye to Ying Luo.

Then he went back to bed and had a good night’s sleep.

The day of the Library Conference arrived in the blink of an eye.

There were no fancy decorations or bustling crowds as the participants of the Library Conference gathered in front of the north gate of the main hall at the center of the Library, separated into male and female queues.

The Library Conference was originally established to deal with the Fairyland’s issues, but over the course of several iterations, it had developed its own distinct Library features. Each elder would closely observe every match record, selecting talented individuals to join their ranks.

Therefore, even though the Fairyland issues had been resolved, the All Things Library had no plans to cancel the competition.

To Yang Yu’s surprise, the number of participants was smaller than he had anticipated, with only about sixty women and just over a hundred men.

In the women’s group, hardly anyone could shake Tico’s status as the Library’s number one talent, leading to half-hearted participation. Only female magicians who were extremely confident in their abilities would take part in the women’s competition; otherwise, they found it more satisfying to read a few extra books in the Library.

In the men’s group, Yang Yu saw several magicians just like Dian Wen, making the competition inevitably intense.

But this had little to do with Yang Yu, as he had come to make a quick defeat, not to try his hardest every time and rack his brains for victory.

Before the start of the lottery for the competition, Yang Yu caught a glimpse of the Heroic Warrior Volcrix in the vast crowd, wrapped in a bright red cloak, but neither approached the other for conversation, exchanging only taunting glances before parting ways.

It would be a long time before they would have any interaction again.

As long as he was defeated in the preliminaries, Yang Yu had a perfect excuse to leave the All Things Library without Volcrix noticing.

In the future, once he had grown stronger, he could deliberately let Volcrix catch him and taunt him with ”Despite being eliminated early, I still don’t believe I am weaker than you. Dare to have a match with me?” to provoke Volcrix into providing a wave of experience.

As long as he didn’t face Volcrix in the first round, it would be a win-win situation.

The roll call for the participants was quickly completed, followed by the drawing of lots, which were divided into red and white, representing different rest areas and combat sequences.

Yang Yu drew red number ten, while Bai Jin and Iyas also drew their respective lots.

This Library Conference adopted a one-on-one single elimination format.

Lose once, and you’re out. There was no second chance.

Everyone present knew this and had to give their all in each match to ensure they weren’t eliminated.

Yang Yu, who was aiming for defeat from the start, was a rare exception.

The women’s competition began first.

Tico, known as the Library’s number one talent, entered unparalleled mode from the first round, not by blowing away her opponent’s White Shield with strong magic in one move, but by demonstrating her powerful magic control abilities, leaving her opponent utterly defenseless and conceding defeat willingly.

Iyas’s archery skills were extremely precise, often defeating her magician opponents before they could weave reliable magic, securing three consecutive victories. However, upon facing Princess Eena, a companion of Volcrix, Iyas was defeated after only a few rounds.

Princess Eena’s combat could be seen as a paradigm of Magic Potion Maker combat.

Magic Potion Makers, as the name implies, use various ingredients to create magic potions to fight with, which can be consumed, applied externally, or used as projectiles.

From Princess Anna’s battle, it was clear she was a genius proficient in all aspects.

She first threw white magic potions, causing them to collide with Iyas’s arrows and create a white dust cloud, blinding Iyas. Then, while boosting her own attributes by consuming potions, she bombarded Iyas with exploding magic potion pellets, detonating numerous side-effect-laden potions around Iyas, weakening her attributes in every respect and thereby gaining a complete advantage.

She planned to settle the battle with a simple, straightforward approach, but before she could slap Iyas’s face, Iyas conceded defeat.

Princess Eena’s movements halted. She drew back her hand slowly, bowed gently towards Iyas, and then left for the resting area without looking back.

However, both Yang Yu and Iyas could clearly sense an underlying dissatisfaction in her, resentful that she did not get to defeat Iyas herself.

This dissatisfaction vanished in an instant.

Princess Eena, known as Little Love by Volcrix, was playing an unknown game that no one could decipher.
