Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 323: Chapter 323 I Can Definitely Do It This Time

Leaving Iyas at the church to learn how to use Holy Light under the guidance of Rococo and the nuns, Yang Yu and Sekamens arrived at the Duel Arena not far from the church.

Yang Yu didn’t want to treat Iyas with such an authoritative attitude.

If he could reason with Iyas, Yang Yu would be willing to spend a bit more time doing so.

But as he got closer to the clues about his brother, Iyas became less and less able to restrain herself and wouldn’t listen to him at all, let alone understand his decisions.

Having no other choice, Yang Yu had to use a forceful attitude to make Iyas submit.

This method was likely to cause a significant drop in her Favorability towards him, which was unavoidable.

In strategy games, there are often systems designed in such a way that one must pay a price to earn a reward.

Many people feel the cost-performance ratio is too low and never touch them, but for someone like Yang Yu, who often plays difficult games, making rational use of every design is the key to success.

Systems that seem to have a poor cost-performance ratio often conceal the secrets of victory.

If one doesn’t give up something to deal with the current difficulties, there’s no future to speak of.

Likewise, if one overspends their future, there’s no future either.

Understanding the importance of decision-making, making prudent choices is a general rule for getting through difficult games.

Giving up some of Iyas’s Favorability towards him so that she could successfully learn Priest skills was a trade-off that Yang Yu could accept.

Or rather, it was a trade-off he had no choice but to make.

Favorability, such a vague thing, is usually recoverable so long as it doesn’t fall below a certain threshold.

Moreover, according to Yang Yu’s experience with galgames, a person’s dislike and fondness can be converted into each other.

Once Iyas understood the painstaking effort behind his actions, she would surely weep and apologize for her behavior.

At that time, Yang Yu would be able to quickly close the gap between them, solidifying their trust.

Opening the panel, Iyas’s Level had already approached sixty, which qualified her as a core force in this world.

But for her to confront the vast family businesses, especially those involved with the Setis Royal Family, was like shaking a giant tree while floating, an utterly hopeless endeavor.

”Iyas shouldn’t be foolish enough to break away from the team and search for her brother alone. With Rococo watching, there probably won’t be any problems.”

Muttering to himself, Yang Yu sighed, closed the attribute panel for Iyas, and looked towards Sekamens, who stood opposite him.

[Sekamens

Level: LV33

HP: 1100/1100 MP: 670/670 Stamina: 1063/1080

Profession: Warrior

Attributes: Strength 217, Defense 135, Intelligence 135, Special Defense 176, Agility 98, Endurance 105]

Yang Yu remembered that when they first met, Sekamens seemed to be only Level twenty-five. In just a few months, he had risen nearly eight Levels, which suggested that Sekamens’s talent was not bad at all.

Keep in mind, many people spend years only to remain at the C-Level adventurer stage.

At this rate, it was only a matter of time before Sekamens would become an A-Level adventurer, which probably also explained his self-confidence.

The silver Armor reflected the scorching midday sun, and Sekamens’s hand, gripping the Long Spear, involuntarily tightened a bit.

”I can feel that you’ve gotten a lot stronger than before. This time I won’t make the same mistakes as last time, and I’ll use all my strength to beat you. Don’t lose too badly.”

Equipped with his Shield and Sword, Yang Yu looked relaxed, ”Same to you, just bring it on.”

The rules of the match were simple, defeat the opponent, or make the opponent concede to win the match.

The referee of this match was none other than Qi, who had come here with them.

Qi had always been bothered by not having struck up a conversation with Iyas and, upon hearing the captain assign him as the referee, he agreed somewhat unhappily.

Walking listlessly to the center of the Duel Arena, Qi raised his right hand in an extremely casual manner, intending to announce the start of the match, which greatly displeased Sekamens.

”Stop obsessing over the girl from before, and take refereeing seriously. Announce the start of the match with more vigour,” said Sekamens.

Qi rolled his eyes, ”Fine, fine, fine. I’ll do it with more vigour. Get ready...”

Still announcing in a listless tone, Sekamens frowned, dropped his ready stance, and planned to give Qi a good talking-to.

At that moment, Yang Yu spoke up, ”Don’t be so downcast. If you manage to defeat me later, I’ll introduce you to Iyas, so you can get to know her well.”

”Really?”

”Of course, it’s true. But first, you have to beat me. If you lose, then no chance.”

”Then please, go easy on me.”

Upon hearing Yang Yu’s promise, Qi’s face lit up with joy, and he became all spirited.

In his view, though Yang Yu was strong, having been worn down by Sekamens and with his own nimble movements, he could also bring Yang Yu down.

Seeing this change, Sekamens didn’t even know what to say, and could only give Yang Yu a look that said, ”Thank you for going through the trouble.”

Yang Yu simply smiled and said nothing.

As they stood in the center of the Duel Arena, Qi swung down his right hand with enthusiasm, and the duel between Sekamens and Yang Yu officially began.

”Sharp

Eagle Eye

Physical Enhancement”

Gripping the Long Spear with one hand, Sekamens didn’t immediately charge forward but instead chose to stand in place, continuously applying buffs to the Long Spear to increase his attack power, critical hit rate, and endurance.

Yang Yu made no move either, simply standing there, observing Sekamens’ every move, waiting for Sekamens to attack.

The situation was exactly as Sekamens remembered, with Yang Yu waiting like this for him to attack last time, and then completely toying with him.

But things were now completely different.

Sekamens had shed his past arrogance and conceit and had become cautious and careful.

If not for meeting Yang Yu, he might have continued to be arrogantly self-important.

Not knowing there were higher skies beyond his sky, thinking he was the cream of the youth, he would have stopped advancing, been complacent, and never left the adventurer’s guild.

Instead, he would have stayed in his comfort zone, living a comfortable life, basking in people’s admiration, squandering his life.

In a way, Yang Yu had also changed the course of his life.

”Holy Radiance Piercing Spear”

Lifting the Long Spear, a sacred bird soared from the tip of Sekamens’ spear, becoming a gleam of light in the sky, and launched its Divine Bird Special Attack on Yang Yu.

Raising his Shield, Yang Yu also invoked his skill,

”Reflective Coating”

An odd light began to circulate on the Shield, completely covering Yang Yu’s Shield.

Taking advantage of Yang Yu raising his Shield to defend, Sekamens also charged, his Sharp Long Spear tracing a shimmering white gleam in the air as he ran.

Yang Yu squatted halfway, lowering his center of gravity, swinging his Sword open,

”Shadow Deception”

A Shadow appeared behind Yang Yu before the blackness flowed into his Sword Blade, turning the Sharp blade pitch-black.

Agreeing readily to Sekamens, Yang Yu also wanted to test this skill he had just learned, in actual combat.
