Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 303: Chapter 303: Relying on Luck, But Not My Own Luck

”Rely on luck?” Iyas’s eyes held a trace of skepticism, ”To depend on that, can we really find my brother sooner? Over my dead body. I’d prefer you suggest something more practical.”

Rely on luck, but it’s not like it’s my luck.

Yang Yu chuckled, ”Sometimes, luck works in mysterious ways.

The slave trade, in both the Sethis Kingdom and the Luoze Empire, is essentially a gray industry, ignored by the state as long as enough taxes are paid.

The Library can’t possibly treat every auction house’s transaction records as books to be entered into the Library.

If we can infiltrate the largest auction house of that family, obtaining all the auction transaction records, there might be a chance to find your brother all at once.

However, penetrating the largest auction house and getting the transaction records is extremely dangerous, as that family’s scale far exceeds your imagination...

The best method would still be to bypass the largest auction house and conduct a thorough search.

They’d probably just think it’s some clueless competition disturbing their business, and even if they were on guard, it wouldn’t be very intense, leaving plenty of room for maneuver.

Since we are going to conduct a thorough search, where we start doesn’t really matter.

So, come on, just pick a place, and we’ll start our investigation from there.”

Yang Yu had no intention of personally choosing the starting point for the investigation, his luck was so bad, he figured he’d probably have to search up to the last place to find Iyas’s brother.

But with Iyas, it might not have to be at the last place; she might just hit the mark from the start.

Having the Luck Emperor by his side, he should make good use of her.

Yang Yu had identified seventeen locations, he could accept finding Iyas’s brother within ten attempts.

Watching Yang Yu’s serious expression, Iyas sighed helplessly; she could only blame herself for not being able to provide Yang Yu with more details.

Examining the map closely, Iyas tried to recall something, straining to find a referential place.

But en route to the Silver Orchid Commerce Research Institute, Iyas mostly dozed off, leaving virtually no references to rely on.

”Stop thinking about it and just tell me,” Yang Yu said, ”from your intuition, where do you think your brother might be? You’re at least a race chosen by the gods, have more confidence in your luck.”

”I’ve said it many times, I truly don’t believe in luck. If my luck were that good, I wouldn’t have encountered so many frustrating issues,” she said sullenly.

Casually pointing toward a region on the map, Iyas said, ”If we’re going to search, let’s start from here. This place is close to the Library; it won’t take too long to get there.

Elves are a rare commodity for your human race. Just find an auction house and ask around, it should be easy to find out where elves are sold, thus narrowing the search scope.

You wouldn’t need to do something as risky as infiltrating other people’s commerce.”

Yang Yu revealed a smile akin to a proud father, ”Who would have thought, one day you could provide such valuable advice.”

With dissatisfaction clear on her face, Iyas retorted, ”People grow up. The way you’ve always treated me like a fool—that’s what truly makes me mad.”

Yang Yu smiled and said nothing, grasping a corner of the map in each hand, intending to pull it from Iyas’s hands.

Iyas gripped the map tightly, preventing Yang Yu from pulling it away and looked at him with a ”What are you doing?” expression. Yang Yu looked back at her with a ”What are *you* doing?” expression.

”Finally, I found a clue about the whereabouts of my brother. Let me keep this map for now.”

Iyas spoke with unwavering determination, and Yang Yu couldn’t find a reason to refuse, thus he released his grip on the map,

”Then you must take good care of it, if it gets lost, and we would have to revisit the All Things Library to reinvestigate. You wouldn’t want to go through all that trouble again, would you?”

”I know, I will definitely keep it safe.” Saying this, Iyas carefully folded the map and put it into her pocket, ”This concerns Hake’s safety, I value it more than anyone else.”

The moment Yang Yu handed the map to Iyas, he had guessed that this would be her reaction.

Whenever it came to matters involving her brother, she would never back down.

By the time they reached the All Things Library, Iyas was already impatient, and Yang Yu had barely managed to satisfy her.

But that was still not enough. Iyas was fierce as a tiger, and if he didn’t put in extra effort to fully satisfy her, she might run off with someone else due to his lack of effort.

Of course, this is all about helping Iyas with her brother’s rescue, without any other implications.

However, the reason why Yang Yu could freely give the map to Iyas was that he had prepared several extra copies.

On those maps, he had also marked seventeen areas.

During the days of negotiation with Fairyland, Yang Yu extensively utilized the fairies’ secret treasure and reaped substantial benefits.

He investigated the skills existing in this world, understanding every skill’s effects and acquisition methods, choosing those suitable for himself and his teammates, and with varying priorities marked them on the map to create a strategy map for acquiring skills.

Additionally, he meticulously investigated the distribution of the underground mazes in this world and similarly used different markers to indicate the mazes with varying magic fluctuations on the map, creating a distribution map of underground mazes.

As for the most crucial Racial Essence, Yang Yu certainly did not forget; besides marking the distribution of various races on the map, he also retained all that information in his mind.

However, most other races lived far away from humans, so obtaining their Racial Essence would require a trip to those countries.

Opposed to the Human Three Kingdoms were the Beastmen-dominated Wansheng Country, the Dragon God Evaluation Country governed by giant dragons, and at the southern end of the continent, an archipelago nation dominated by the Sea-dwelling Species and Hapi, followers of the Sea Mother—the Ocean Duchy.

Among the human cities, there were only three types of subhumans.

One was the Snowman Clan on the Snow Mountains north of the Luo Ze Empire; one was the Lamia Clan, also known as the Snake-man Clan, living in the desert at the border of the Sethis Kingdom and Wansheng Country; and the last was the fairies living underneath the All Things Library.

While investigating these matters, Yang Yu also discovered something very interesting—the Genius List, personally compiled by Artie Roosevelt, the chief director of the All Things Library.

Though called the Genius List, it more closely resembled a monthly periodical that recorded the exceptional young talents of the continent, with many celebrities providing detailed evaluations of these geniuses.

This Genius List focused on evaluations of actual combat strength, clearly in preparation for the Dragon God Conference.

However, it also contained many filler pieces that introduced outstanding talents from various professions.

For instance, Chilom in his younger days had also been featured in this Genius List, precisely in this very book.

Yang Yu was surprised to find that the latest edition of the Genius List featured Fuer Maling.

It seemed he would have to be more cautious in the future to ensure that he was not targeted by the Genius List.

At the Dragon God Conference, it would be far more interesting if a nameless soldier defeated all the renowned figures on the list.
