Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 312: Chapter 312: The Future is Promising

”Lord Vorquis, it really is a shame, I didn’t expect that person to be so powerful.”

As soon as the match ended, Little Love hurried to the exit of the arena and handed Vorquis a cup of water, her face showing a comforting smile,

”Don’t lose heart, failure is sometimes inevitable, the key is how you deal with failure and how you grow stronger afterward.”

Vorquis pushed the cup of water back towards Little Love, ”A single failure will not affect my growth.”

The cup was pushed back, and Little Love showed no resentment, but the corners of her mouth twitched involuntarily.

Watching the Hero’s extremely serious profile, Princess Eena cautiously asked,

”So, Lord Vorquis, what should we do now?

We have already acquired the knowledge we needed from the All Things Library.

The Library Conference has become utterly meaningless for Lord Vorquis.

The wise and mighty Lord Vorquis will certainly make the right decision and lead me to quickly embark on the path to becoming stronger.

I believe that with Lord Vorquis’s talent, just training for ten days to half a month will ensure you won’t lose to that kind of man.”

Vorquis showed no expression and didn’t feel any relief from Princess Eena’s flattery,

”It is not meaningless at all.

I just have something I want to verify.

It’s about the opponent I just competed with.”

Princess Eena tilted her head, but eventually adjusted her attitude and said with a smile,

”Understood. I will contact the people from the All Things Library right now to conduct an investigation.”

No sooner had Princess Anna taken a step than Vorquis stopped her,

”There’s no need to investigate now. I want to observe his next match, the things I want to confirm naturally will be clarified then.”

Why would that man’s attributes and level change if he was deliberately hiding his strength?

Vorquis had a foreboding feeling in his heart, as though he really faced a weak challenger instead of a high and mighty expert.

If that man really defeated him with such weak attributes, then where would he, Vorquis, put his old face?

The thought of thoroughly being overpowered by that man, when he, with attributes that completely crushed that man’s, was met with his indifferent expression, Vorquis felt an unspeakable oppression in his heart.

It was as if Yang Yu was telling him that he wasn’t worthy of being a Hero, that he had no strength to defeat the Demon King.

Even if he truly had it, once he, the Hero, gained fame and success, Yang Yu would come back again, step on him, and shatter his reputation.

Fortunately, this tragic future was only in Vorquis’s imagination, he still had a chance.

If he could prove that he was wrong, he still had an opportunity.

That man could deal such stable damage and use inscrutable techniques; he was very likely a hidden master.

If he could prove that he had been mistaken, he could still swallow his pride and earnestly ask him, begging him to teach his techniques.

If it weren’t for that...

Vorquis clenched his hand tightly, his sharp nails digging into his palm, his gaze revealing a cold indifference as he silently moved towards the viewing platform.

On the other side.

After the match, Yang Yu, accompanied by Iyas and Bai Jin, arrived at the entrance where they had initially registered. Baronaco was still there, leisurely controlling the Barriers within the hall, ensuring the safety of each competitor, and recording every video into the Memory Crystals.

At this moment, a smile played upon her lips, she hadn’t expected Yang Yu to deal with the Hero so easily.

If a Hero could defeat the Demon King, then, rounding up, could Yang Yu also take down the Demon King?

Of course, this was just a little daydream.

After all, Vorquis was the Hero, and while he was not performing well now, his future was promising.

And Yang Yu was just an adventurer who seemed to have appeared out of nowhere. At most, he could become a world-renowned S-level adventurer, but he was not in the same league as a Hero who could wield the Holy Sword and battle the Demon King.

Once the Hero became more astute, Yang Yu probably wouldn’t be able to defeat him as easily as he did now.

Fiddling with a pale blue Memory Crystal in her hand, Baronaco looked towards Yang Yu and his companions as they approached her and asked:

”You haven’t come to trouble me, have you? Or do you, shamelessly, want to invite me over for my beauty as you did last time?”

Yang Yu, unafraid of Baronaco’s tease, replied, ”No trouble at all. If you’re willing to accept my invitation, I would be happy to try inviting you.”

Baronaco chuckled, ”You’re as interesting as ever, a fun man. No kidding anymore, what brings you here?”

Without beating around the bush, Yang Yu went straight to the point, ”Actually, I want to withdraw from the next match, please announce to the others at my competition area when you’re there.”

”Withdraw? I think if you keep up as you are, you’re bound to place highly. The rewards from the All Things Library are quite generous. Are you really in that much of a hurry?”

Baronaco’s gaze was locked onto Yang Yu, confident that if he lied, she would easily catch him.

However, no matter how long she watched, she didn’t see any slight expression indicating he intended to lie,

”I think you’re overestimating me. With my current strength, I have no chance of winning first place in the tournament. So, I need to seize the time, to keep training myself. Today, I saw that the Hero is even weaker than I imagined. We can’t just rely on someone like him to save the world, I also need to try and exert some effort.

If the Hero fails, then my team and I may have a chance of survival.”

The smile on Baronaco’s face deepened, ”I really can’t hide anything from you. You knew that person was the Hero. How many times do you want to surprise me before you’re satisfied?

Indeed, you know more than we imagined.

I got it, if you want to withdraw, then withdraw!

Afterward, you will leave the International Library and hand over your Contribution Cards to me. I will report honestly to the Elder Council and will take care of the follow-up matters for you. This is also a favor I’m giving you personally.”

”I appreciate it. Until we meet again, in three years.”

As he spoke, Yang Yu had Bai Jin and Iyas hand over their Contribution Cards to Baronaco. Then, with a wave of his sleeve, without taking a cloud with him, he left the central hall of the Library and headed towards the city outskirts.

Watching the direction Yang Yu was leaving, then glancing at the three Contribution Cards lying in her hand, Baronaco shook her head,

”I take back what I said. This kid might just become a man who stands shoulder to shoulder with the Hero.”
