Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 331: Chapter 331: Beauty and the Beast

”Yang Yu couldn’t rule out the possibility that Iyas’s brother had already been auctioned off. Citing his indifference to second-hand goods as a reason, he attempted to have the manager investigate the male elves that had been auctioned in the past year.

The manager explained that once an elf was auctioned, only the auction house that conducted the sale would know their whereabouts, and with his authority, he could only know which auction houses had sold elves within the year.

Moreover, to inquire, one would need to use the Crystal Ball to contact headquarters to retrieve the data.

Stating, ’It doesn’t matter whether it’s second-hand or not, as long as I can find a male elf that satisfies my heart,’ Yang Yu gave the manager a fee and asked him to investigate which auction houses had auctioned male elves within the year.

As for the follow-up, Yang Yu told the manager that he would handle it himself, relying on his clever intelligence to find the male elf he liked.

The manager of the Urasa Auction House smiled without saying a word and accepted Yang Yu’s request.

Later, the manager told Yang Yu that occasionally there were elves returned, and their auction prices were generally low. Yang Yu could try to bid for them.

Even if the quality was not up to par, quantity could be victorious; group activities are generally more joyous.

Suppressing the complaints in his heart, Yang Yu smiled and nodded. After speaking with the manager for a few more moments and agreeing on a time, he left the auction house.

The auction at the auction house was held periodically.

A regular auction in Urasa was held every five days, and a large auction was held once a month.

For something as valuable as the Revive Elixir, the manager naturally wanted to auction it at a large auction.

Tomorrow night, there just happened to be a large auction.

At this time, bringing such valuable treasures here, the manager of the auction house felt even more that Yang Yu’s arrival in this remote area was surely instigated by a mysterious person.

In fact, Yang Yu had just recorded the potentially useful information while investigating the Chaoyang Chamber of Commerce.

To some extent, Yang Yu had timed his arrival in this city perfectly.

Returning to the inn where he was staying, Iyas hurried forward the moment she saw Yang Yu return, eager to inquire about the situation.

Yang Yu told Iyas everything that had happened truthfully; it seemed that they didn’t conduct slave auctions here, but if everything went smoothly, then after the auction tomorrow, they could significantly narrow down the search.

This good news didn’t relieve Iyas but, on the contrary, made her even more anxious.

She didn’t know what her brother was going through right now.

When it came to meeting Hake, Iyas couldn’t be sure if Hake would, just like in that dream, have completely become a Human’s plaything, harboring resentment in his heart because she hadn’t come to rescue him sooner.

She no longer knew what kind of expression to wear to face Hake.

’Everything that could be done has been done; darting around like a headless fly will only waste time. You have plenty of time to adjust your feelings. I hope you can use the time I’m at the auction house to think carefully about what I said before.’

Iyas sensed the underlying meaning in Yang Yu’s words; evidently, he didn’t want to take her to the auction tomorrow.

She tried to change Yang Yu’s decision, asking him to take her along and let her contribute, but Yang Yu firmly refused her.

The auction house was a place of mixed repute, and bringing the conspicuous Iyas there would inevitably attract trouble. If their disguise was exposed by some wealthy merchant or Nobles on the spot, all their efforts would be in vain and result in serious losses.

Thus, Yang Yu steadfastly refused Iyas.”

Rejected by Yang Yu again, Iyas sat alone on her bunk bed, furrowing her eyebrows. Her brother’s clues were within an arm’s reach, yet all she could do was sit idly by.

Although this matter was of utmost importance to her, she could only watch from the sidelines, feeling very unwilling.

If she could provide more clues, perhaps she would have found Hake earlier and wouldn’t have to waste time in such a roundabout manner.

...

As dusk fell gradually, the gloomy clouds from yesterday persisted till today, showing no signs of clearing up or intending to rain.

The once-a-month grand auction at Urasa was about to begin, and the previously lifeless streets were slowly bustling with noise during this period.

Whenever the day of the grand auction arrived, wealthy merchants and nobles from nearby would come to see if there was anything worth buying at the auction house.

The streets were filled with incessant calls from sellers attempting to catch the attention of merchants and nobles.

These merchants and nobles rarely patronized roadside vendors as they had a clear goal and would not waste time on trivial items.

Thus, the ones attracted by the calls were mostly those who came to join in the fun and the bustle.

Many adventurers also seized this opportunity to auction treasures they had found in the Underground Maze.

The appraisal room in Urasa Auction House was overflowing with all sorts of treasures each day. The appraiser, Kela, was so busy sifting through the auction items, returning worthless items to their original owners.

Adventurers whose treasures were rejected sometimes set up their stalls near the auction house to sell other items they had found in the maze.

Because there were legends of people striking it rich overnight by finding real treasures at these stalls, the business there was actually more booming than one might imagine.

It could be said that everyone who came to Urasa was immersed in this once-a-month grand event.

Suddenly,

in the bustling crowd, a three-meter-tall bear appeared.

The vendors, strollers, and passersby stopped in their tracks at the sight of this massive creature, their faces showing unmistakable fear.

Although it wasn’t a large place, this was still a city. How could the city’s manager tolerate such a dangerous thing on the streets?

Filled with confusion, they took a closer look and suddenly realized that it was not a real bear but a burly man clad in bear skin.

The man’s rough face was mostly covered by the animal skin, while his sharp red eyes stood out significantly under the shadow of the bear skin, resembling red lanterns lit in the dark night. His bulging muscles made the bear skin he was wearing look quite puffed.

He walked like a real bear, making it inevitable for people to mistake him.

Beside this ”giant bear,” walked a girl not even half his size.

The girl had beautiful pink wavy hair, her face delicately cute like a doll, her lively big eyes floated with star-like patterns, and she wore a white dress similar to a Lolita-style, holding a pink-white parasol as if she had stepped out from an animated world.

This cute girl had a green snake flicking its tongue on her right shoulder and held a black cat in her arms.

Though called a black cat, it only looked like one; its blue reptilian eyes and curled furry tail indicated that it was not a black cat but some kind of demon.

The identity of the girl as a Monster Tamer was self-evident.
