Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 344: Chapter 344 I Am Truly a Genius

Urasa Auction House had a tradition.

Once a month, after a grand auction had concluded and everything was sorted out the following day, all the staff would gather for a grand celebration banquet.

To make it to the evening’s celebration banquet and enjoy the drinks with his colleagues, the appraiser Kela started early in the morning, compiling and binding the appraisal forms in his studio.

The data on these forms would first be sent via Crystal Ball to the administrators and then transported to the headquarters of the Sunrise Chamber of Commerce for reference.

The appraisal forms were cluttered with various items for different types of auctioned goods, but no matter which form it was, there was always a significant blank space at the bottom reserved for notes on special matters.

”Speaking of which, the Revive Elixir also needs a special remark, what kind of remark was it?”

Adding special remarks for prestigious auction items was an extremely mundane task.

However, the Revive Elixir seemed to have a particularly special remark, which was a new note that had been requested about a month ago, and it was accompanied by a special regulation...

Memory slowly awakened in Kela’s mind, his formerly joyful face vanished in an instant, his brows furrowed, he became perplexed, almost spitting out a mouthful of old blood.

That was last month when he was appraising items, and a message suddenly came through.

His superiors warned him to be vigilant, if someone intended to auction resurrection medicine, to note the person’s face if they resembled the individual in a picture, and if they auctioned Revive Elixir, to immediately report to headquarters.

The image that emerged in his mind was none other than Yang Yu, who had come to auction the day before.

”No wonder I felt like I’ve seen him somewhere before, so it was here...”

His brows furrowed tighter, Kela didn’t know why the Chamber of Commerce asked them to monitor Yang Yu, but the considerable stir it caused indicated that Yang Yu’s identity was no small matter; he had to report it to his family immediately.

Withdrawing his document, Kela wanted to report this matter to the higher-ups, but his hand, intending to activate the Crystal Ball, remained raised without completing the action.

If someone brought resurrection medicine to the auction house and they detected that their appearance matched the description in the document precisely, they had to immediately notify headquarters, while also figuring out a way to detain him.

Yang Yu had last visited the auction house only yesterday.

Working at the auction house, Kela couldn’t casually chat with others, so naturally, he didn’t know the exact location of the hotel where Yang Yu and his party were staying.

If Yang Yu had already left the city early, wouldn’t his actions be contrary to the headquarters’ directive?

What kind of punishment would he face then?

But it was definitely not okay to hide this; the person in charge had already given him the prestigious VIP card, and if headquarters decided to investigate, it wouldn’t take much effort to find out that it was here that Yang Yu was given the prestigious VIP card, then, concealing this and facing further punishment was inevitable.

Caught in a dilemma, Kela struggled to make a choice. After much thought, he decided to tell the person in charge here.

The person in charge probably also heard about the auction house’s new rule; they were in the same boat, and if the person in charge didn’t stand with him, perhaps there wouldn’t be another person in the world who could.

The person in charge was also organizing documents, and upon hearing Kela, his complexion turned pale, his brows furrowed.

As the responsible person, he too was aware of the new rule.

Although he was aware of the new rule, the person in charge hadn’t actually paid attention to what the person in the drawing looked like.

The Revive Elixir was too rare; those who had this medicine wouldn’t come to draw their whereabouts to auction it, so even though the person in charge knew such a new rule had emerged, he didn’t take it too seriously.

Having obtained the Revive Elixir, before the auction started, the person in charge’s mind was completely occupied by thoughts like ”How can I sell the Revive Elixir at the highest price?” and ”After it’s sold, how good will this month’s performance look?”

After the auction, the person in charge’s mind was taken up by thoughts like ”This double harvest, not only having Revive Elixir but also having members of Red Blood Rose come to auction spoils of war, it’s truly a double celebration, today I must have a good meal to reward myself,” completely neglecting the new regulation.

If it weren’t for Kela’s reminder, the person in charge might never remember such a matter for his whole life.

No doubt, this was a dereliction of duty for both of them, and if they reported the truth of the matter just like that, both the person in charge and Kela would be in huge trouble.

But they couldn’t possibly conceal it forever; Yang Yu already had their VIP card, and he had auctioned Revive Elixir yesterday. If the family wanted to investigate, it would undoubtedly lead directly back to them here.

At that point, they would truly be beyond redemption.

The best strategy was to act first, to twist the facts while headquarters were still oblivious to the situation here.

After some contemplation, the person in charge slapped his thigh and made a decision.

Reporting was necessary, but it could be delayed a little.

Since nobody knew, they could completely claim that when Yang Yu arrived at the auction house, he wore a mask, and they decided first to auction the resurrection medicine, while sending people to monitor Yang Yu’s activities to ascertain his identity, to see if he was the man depicted.

By saying that they intended to avoid surprising headquarters, and wait until confirmation before reporting, they could perfectly sidestep the issue of timing.

Now they would send people out to find Yang Yu’s whereabouts.

If Yang Yu was still in the city, they could use having seen their true faces as a reason to report.

If Yang Yu had left the city, they could say that these people might have sneaked out of the city, looking guilty, but there’s no need to worry, that previous man had asked the person in charge to investigate quite a few things, he would definitely go to the auction house dealing in elves.

At that time, they could let those at the Slave Auction House watch their movements and catch them all in one swoop.

Whichever method they chose would demonstrate their unwavering dedication to their jobs, not only could they completely shift the blame away from themselves, but they might also really catch the eye of the big shots in the Dominating Chamber of Commerce, from then on rising rapidly and leaving this impoverished place.

I’m such a genius!

Without further delay, the person in charge immediately began organizing people to locate Yang Yu and his companions.

But after a desperate search, the person in charge received information that Yang Yu and his companions had left Urasa early in the morning, led by a massive Silver Wolf.
