Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 346: Chapter 346: There’s No Time to Explain

Having arrived in Tansen, Yang Yu bypassed the bustling streets, his purpose clear in his mind.

Find the Slave Auction House run by Sunrise Chamber of Commerce in this city and track down clues to Iyas’s brother from there.

The location of the Slave Auction House was not easy to find.

Fortunately, the booklet given by the head of Urasa Auction House recorded the methods to reach every Slave Auction House.

As long as he followed the methods to find the informants, he would be able to locate the Slave Auction House.

At the Slave Auction House, he could present his precious VIP card to inquire about the condition of the recent ”merchandise.”

If there was a slave he took a liking to, he could participate in the bidding or take them away for a fixed price.

Of course, this ”fixed price” was not about under-the-table dealings, but rather designed for those VIPs who had a particular interest in certain individuals.

To obtain the objects of their interest sooner, these VIPs were willing to spend more money, and the Slave Auction House would naturally take the opportunity to make a heavy profit; the fixed price would often be more than twice the estimated selling price at the auction.

The so-called Jiucai were not just sitting around waiting to be exploited.

Most people who wanted to buy slaves would still wait for the auction event.

The Slave Auction was held about once every two weeks, and Yang Yu’s arrival in Tansen left almost exactly one week until the next auction event.

Naturally, Iyas couldn’t wait that long. And because of that, Yang Yu couldn’t be bothered to follow the process either; he went straight to the Slave Auction House on a sneak visit to check if Iyas’s brother was there, and if so, he intended to buy him at a fixed price.

The starting bid for a male elf was generally quite low, unless two individuals with the same peculiar taste happened to bid at the same time; otherwise, it was unlikely to fetch a high price, so the estimated selling price would not be high either.

With Yang Yu’s current financial capability, buying and taking away ten male elves in one fell swoop was not an issue.

If Iyas’s brother wasn’t found, Yang Yu would cozy up to the person in charge and relay Iyas’s description of Hake as if it were his own requirement to see if a similar elf had been sold in the past.

Suppose they obtained no clues about Iyas’s brother at all; they would then set off directly to the next auction house and repeat the same operation.

Before taking action, Iyas insisted on accompanying Yang Yu, as she could recognize Hake at a glance and avoid wasting time.

There was no way Yang Yu was foolish enough to bring Iyas, who was so eager, along with him.

If Iyas saw Hake, she would likely rush to her brother’s cage, certainly drawing others’ attention, and thus, there was a high likelihood of losing more than he could gain.

It was most appropriate to place Iyas and Bai Jin in a hotel and go to the Slave Auction House alone.

Disguised with an appearance slightly lacking in sophistication, Yang Yu still planned to masquerade as a man entrusted by some benefactor to buy an elf.

Upon arriving at the designated shop and presenting the VIP card, the informant led Yang Yu through numerous streets, eventually reaching a massive villa.

This villa, in fact, was the Slave Auction House.

Everyone who came to participate in the hiring of slaves was said to be invited by the owner, and the slaves they purchased were described as gifts from the villa’s master.

After all, the trade of slaves could not be openly displayed; the Slave Auction Houses run by the Sunrise Chamber of Commerce operated mostly in this manner.

Upon entering the interior of the villa, it was no different from any ordinary auction house. Yang Yu handed over his VIP card to the receptionist at the front desk, following the informant’s instruction.

After glancing at Yang Yu and checking the activation date and the issuing auction house on the back of the VIP card, the receptionist respectfully said to Yang Yu:

”Esteemed guest, please wait a moment, I will go ask the manager right now. We would like to hold on to this precious VIP card for the time being.”

Having said that, the receptionist turned and left without looking back. It took him about half an hour to return, all smiles as he spoke to Yang Yu,

”Sorry to have kept you waiting, our guest, but since this card was issued very recently, we had to contact the auction house that issued it to verify its authenticity, which took a bit of time. Please don’t mind.

As an apology, our manager would like to invite you to the VIP room for a detailed discussion, and if you wish to purchase slaves, we will offer you a certain discount as compensation.”

Yang Yu looked at the grinning receptionist and frowned slightly,

”That makes sense, and I should comply respectfully.

—That’s what I intended to say.

But you have delayed too much, and I suddenly remember some urgent matters I need to handle.

I came here just to say hello, so I wouldn’t be turned away when I come to bid in the future.

My goal has been achieved. Can you return that VIP card to me? I will come back when the official slave auction starts.”

The receptionist laughed and said, ”Since you’re here, you should meet our manager anyway. It won’t take much time to see him just once.”

Facing the receptionist’s enthusiastic invitation, Yang Yu simply shook his head again, insisting he was really in a rush and had to leave now.

The receptionist suddenly looked troubled and said he needed to ask the manager for instructions before leaving the reception room again.

Seizing this opportunity, Yang Yu confidently left the Slave Auction House; after exiting the villa, he turned and ran towards the hotel where Bai Jin and Iyas were staying.

Iyas had been waiting for Yang Yu in the hotel lobby for a while. Seeing Yang Yu return so quickly, she immediately stood up to ask about the situation.

Yang Yu didn’t say much, just went straight to Bai Jin’s room, grabbed her hand while she was studying magic, and without a word, dragged her out of the room.

Seeing the seriousness etched on Yang Yu’s face, Bai Jin knew that something troublesome had happened to them, or at least to Yang Yu.

Bai Jin called for Yang Yu to stop, took a few seconds to pack up the important things, and then followed him out of the hotel.

Meanwhile, Iyas was still clueless about the situation, persistently asking Yang Yu what was going on.

”There’s no time to explain; get in the carriage quickly. We must leave here right away, otherwise, we’ll be in grave danger.”

After hitching the carriage to Lotcar, Yang Yu gestured for the two to hurry in,

”What exactly is going on? At least tell me the reason we’re leaving, and whether there’s any clue about Hake.”

”We’ll talk about it on the way; let’s leave now.”

Despite being constantly worried about her brother, seeing the determined look on Yang Yu’s face, Iyas had no choice but to climb into the carriage and follow him.

Having driven Lotcar out of the stables, Yang Yu saw several tall figures in black among the bustling crowd.

They were dressed exquisitely and beautiful, peering left and right as if searching for something.

Upon seeing Yang Yu driving a white wolf, their gaze immediately locked on to him, and they started to chase after him.

Yang Yu just waved at them, then continued driving Lotcar quickly towards the city gates.
