Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 318: Chapter 318: Clumsy Comfort Only Adds to the Sorrow

”Indeed, the techniques of Shadow Stream are never passed on to outsiders.

But having been inherited through so many generations, I’m not sure if Master Ghost has truly grasped the essence of Shadow Stream.

I want to see if Master Ghost still possesses the skills I need.”

Yang Yu spoke deliberately, making it impossible for Master Ghost to refuse.

”Shadow Stream has been passed down through many generations, and every Sect Leader has had many requirements for their successors.

One of which is, if the successor hasn’t learned all the skills of the sect, they cannot inherit the position of Sect Leader.

The previous Sect Leader was like this, and so am I.

I dare guarantee that I haven’t missed learning a single skill, and I’ll demonstrate any you wish to see right now.

If you are satisfied and wish to learn, come and become my disciple, and I will teach you all I know in my lifetime.”

Yang Yu’s face suddenly took on a meaningful smile as he responded,

”The skill I want to see is named ’Shadow Deception’; please, Master Ghost.”

Without any hesitation, Master Ghost stepped right, adopted a horse stance, and set himself in position right there. His hands clenched into fists, he took a deep breath, surging with Magic Power, forming a black shadow behind him.

This black shadow then turned into black threads, wrapping around his arms, turning them pitch black.

”This is the skill you wanted to see, ’Shadow Deception’.

As you see, it’s a skill that leans towards Status.

Perhaps, you’ve already investigated; this skill isn’t influenced by your own Strength.

The damage is dependent on how much Strength your opponent has.

It’s extremely effective against foes far stronger than yourself.”

Master Ghost ardently described ’Shadow Deception,’ looking at Yang Yu with eagerness,

”However, to learn this skill, you must first learn to control Shadow Power. To control Shadow Power, you must have specialized guidance and engage in long, daily practices...”

Yang Yu responded with a faint smile to Master Ghost’s eager gaze; he had a significant amount of Skill Points, specifically intended for learning skills.

When he first registered as an adventurer, Yang Yu had thoroughly understood how to use Skill Points.

To successfully learn a skill using Skill Points, two conditions must be met:

First, you must completely witness the skill in use;

Second, the person using the skill must be willing to teach it.

Only by meeting both conditions can a skill be learned through Skill Points.

By now, Yang Yu had fully watched ’Shadow Deception,’ fulfilling the first condition; all that was left was for Master Ghost to intend to teach him the skill.

”Indeed, it seems like quite an impressive skill. But, it looks quite difficult to learn, and that Shadow Power, just by the name, doesn’t sound easy to master...”

Upon hearing Yang Yu say this, Master Ghost immediately dispelled the shadows around his hand, shouted, and two black shadows separated from his body, forming tangible entities, mirroring his actions,

”It’s not difficult to learn at all, actually quite simple, and it’s a rather interesting ability.

As you can see, as long as there is enough Magic Power, one can create any number of shadows following the motions, a single man as mighty as an army.

As long as you join Shadow Stream, you can enjoy the thrill of defeating greater numbers.

With mastery over Shadow Power, you can develop many different poses, play it any way you want.”

Afraid that Yang Yu might lose interest in Shadow Stream, Master Ghost tried every means to demonstrate the intriguing aspects of Shadow Stream.

However, Yang Yu seemed to be deep in thought, apparently uninterested in anything other than that particular skill.

”It still seems too hard, just mastering Shadow Power would take a lot of time, let alone learning ’Shadow Deception.’ Isn’t there a simpler way?”

”It’s not that there aren’t any. But those are the uncloaked secrets. Once you join, I will naturally provide you with shortcuts.”

”Words alone aren’t enough. Can you prove you truly intend to teach me?”

Seeing Yang Yu’s disdainful expression, Master Ghost grew anxious,

”Of course, I have the intention to teach you. To be honest, I haven’t seen a martial arts talent like you in a long time.

If you were born in the flourishing era of Ancient Martial, you’d definitely be the sought-after candidate among all factions.

Now that you’ve shown deep interest in Shadow Stream, I couldn’t be happier.

As long as you are willing to join my sect, I will definitely teach you everything I know, without holding anything back.”

Just as he finished speaking, a new message popped up on Yang Yu’s System panel.

”You can learn ’Shadow Power.’ Would you like to spend 50 Skill Points to learn?”

”You can learn ’Shadow Deception.’ Would you like to spend 120 Skill Points to learn?”

It was done.

Yang Yu felt secretly pleased and clicked on ’Shadow Deception,’ only to find out ’Shadow Deception’ required the prerequisite skill ’Shadow Power’ and could not be obtained directly.

Thus, Yang Yu, feeling emotionally torn, spent 50 Skill Points to learn ’Shadow Power’ as well.

After learning it, naturally, he would abandon the bridge after crossing.

Yang Yu remained silent for a moment, then his demeanor dramatically changed to one of sorrow mixed with anger,

”You keep saying I’m a martial arts prodigy, but I don’t feel like I am.

On the contrary, I find myself quite clumsy, unable to learn many things, powerless against formidable opponents, finally seeing a skill that could defeat strong opponents.

However, I didn’t expect that Master Ghost was consistently poking at my pain points.

Presumably, Master Ghost also thinks I’m incapable of learning the skills you demonstrated.

That’s why you chose this method to mock me, suggesting that no matter what, I cannot master martial arts.

Yes, all I’ve done has been in vain.

Perhaps, I shouldn’t have come here at all.”

Tears gleaming in his eyes, Yang Yu turned to leave.

Master Ghost was baffled.

Where was there any sarcasm in what I just said? Clearly, I’ve over-exaggerated, and it was spotted.

To prevent the hard-found potential successor from slipping away, Master Ghost quickly explained, ”That wasn’t my intention at all, I didn’t mean to mock you. I truly believe you can learn all my skills.”

”That’s enough, I don’t want to hear any more of your explanations, your poor attempts at consolation only add to the sorrow.”

Yang Yu extended his finger, wiping away the tears trickling from the corner of his eyes,

”Before meeting Mr. Ghost, I always thought Mr. Ghost would be pragmatic, seeing my deficiencies and trying his best to assist me.

It appears I was wrong about you.

If learning ’Shadow Deception’ is as simple as drinking water as Mr. Ghost described.

Mr. Ghost would have spread Shadow Stream throughout the world, making this faction so simple that even I could learn it, instead of hiding in this remote corner.”
