Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 310: Chapter 310: Not Frightening Until You Look

With great Strength, close combat turned out to be a disadvantage; Vorquis watched every move of Yang Yu, and after realizing that Yang Yu had no intention of getting close, a bold guess formed in his mind.

Yang Yu’s Reflex was extraordinary, and because of that, it seemed that he was slightly slower in Speed.

However, maintaining such reaction speed during an attack was difficult, which was why he now chose to stay put and wait for others to approach him.

Thinking of this, Vorquis narrowed his eyes.

If one recklessly kept launching close-range attacks on Yang Yu, it was very likely that they would be thoroughly subdued by him again.

A new approach was necessary.

Holding a sword in one hand, Vorquis raised his other hand, a burst of light shimmered in his palm, a magnificent Magic Array formed in front of him, myriad flowing Magic Power transformed into fluttering ice-blue butterflies gathering into the Magic Array.

At the scene, many knowledgeable individuals widened their eyes, all familiar with this move.

”Blue Ice Dance”

This was recognized as the most challenging Basic Magic to learn.

Vorquis performed it effortlessly, indicating his incredible Magic talent; it wasn’t surprising that he freely appeared at the All Things Library, probably here to visit or study.

Just like the people at the scene who recognized this magic, Yang Yu easily identified it as well.

In fact, Yang Yu had a special memory for every flashy yet impractical Skill, to prevent overreacting when others used it.

Although ”Blue Ice Dance” looked very glamorous, in reality, its base power was not much different from Frost Ice Arrow—impressive but not practical.

Learning it was tough, perhaps merely because its creator wanted to highlight his talent in Magic by adding many special effects.

Of course, Yang Yu could not casually reveal that he knew this Skill.

He had to forcibly suppress his laughter, pretend to be unaware of what powerful Magic Vorquis was using, and panic abandoning his Guard, rush toward the busy Vorquis.

”It’s already too late!”

Vorquis laughed smugly, the Magic Power in front of him in the Magic Array having gathered completely, transformed the Magic Power butterflies into a carefully crafted snowball, targeting Yang Yu.

”Reflective Coating”

As the snowball came closer, Yang Yu silently called out the name of the Skill, a bizarre light instantly enveloping the huge Shield.

Using the Shield as if it were a ping-pong paddle, Yang Yu fiercely struck Vorquis’s snowball right back at him.

Vorquis could not dodge in time, and the exquisite snowball exploded before him like white fireworks in the night sky.

Watching his own White Shield Value drop because of his attack, Vorquis was furious.

However, he chose to suppress his fury; he knew that getting angry over such a minor thing would only give Yang Yu more opportunities.

Besides, after discovering that he could use Magic, Yang Yu would surely consider close combat, and even if it deviated from his own perfect plan, Vorquis truly managed to draw Yang Yu closer.

Vorquis was certain; Yang Yu, launching an attack so hastily, could not possibly be as effortlessly competent as before.

Vorquis dispelled the magic in front of him and, gripping his sword in both hands, aimed at Yang Yu who was charging towards him to counterattack.

However, as Yang Yu’s sword scraped across the ground, it produced a grating sound akin to nails on a chalkboard, causing Vorquis’s focus to briefly waver. In that less than three-second distraction, he missed the optimal time to strike back, allowing Yang Yu to fiercely swing his sword toward Vorquis’s chest.

With desperation, Vorquis managed to barely block the attack by shifting his sword’s position.

Yang Yu’s sword barely collided with Vorquis’s sword before he swiftly withdrew it, quickly preparing for another attack without giving Vorquis a chance to catch his breath.

Faced with no other choice, Vorquis could only desperately defend himself with his sword, but his defensive rhythm was disrupted by Yang Yu’s relentless attacks, allowing the strikes to rain down upon him incessantly.

The elders viewing the match at the Elder Council were all visibly astonished.

The hero, who had emerged through rigorous selection from the Village of Heroes, was being utterly dominated by an unknown young man, a result difficult for anyone to accept.

Even some seated elders entertained the thought, ”Perhaps the Sage of the Village of Heroes let him out for experiential learning because this generation’s hero is too weak. By facing the vast world, he can realize his own insignificance and be motivated to ceaselessly improve himself.”

Of course, many elders also recognized that it wasn’t the hero’s fault, but rather that Yang Yu’s responses were too cunning, as if he had battled thousands of times, with each move comprising meticulously planned strategies unlikely to be predicted by ordinary people.

In his battle with the hero, there was not a single wasted movement.

These elders asked themselves, if they were in Yang Yu’s place, they likely faced only the inevitability of elimination.

Watching his White Shield Value diminish while Yang Yu’s remained unaffected, Vorquis felt a sense of eeriness and quickly widened the distance between them again, thoroughly re-examining this unknown young man.

”What exactly are you?”

While speaking, Vorquis once again opened Yang Yu’s attribute panel, but no matter how many times he checked, he couldn’t see any changes in Yang Yu’s data.

Yang Yu appeared to be a young man whose overall attributes were far inferior to his own.

”What exactly am I, what do you think I am?” retorted Yang Yu.

Caught off guard by the counterquestion, Vorquis’s eyes widened as a sudden thought struck him.

Could all this person’s panel data be fake?

Vorquis opened his system panel to check the damage Yang Yu had inflicted on him so far.

He was shocked upon seeing it.

The damage caused by Yang Yu was strictly limited to certain ranges.

Normally, a character’s damage fluctuates between 90% and 110%, with about 20% variability, but Yang Yu’s damage fluctuated only from 90%-101%, halving the degree of variability.

What surprised Vorquis even more was that despite the many strikes Yang Yu had inflicted, not a single one was a critical hit.

Even when he scrolled through the damage list from top to bottom, he couldn’t find a single critical hit from Yang Yu.

Normally, an ordinary person has a 5% chance to cause a critical hit, but Yang Yu, after so many hits, had not produced a single one, which was suspicious enough to suggest this was all intentionally done by Yang Yu.

At this moment, Vorquis again looked at Yang Yu’s race attribute, which was displayed as: Mixed Species (Human, Elf, Plant Race).
