Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 322: Chapter 322 Unwilling

Glancing at Iyas beside him, Yang Yu noticed the dissatisfaction in her brows, looking at him unhappily,

”I have no intention of becoming a Priest, so don’t project your ideas onto me.

Although I said before that I would work under you, that was as an outstanding elf... Elite Warrior, not as a Priest.

Is this why you came here in the first place?

When you first talked about learning a few skills, I thought they were to enhance my combat abilities, but it turns out like this.

I already told you, we can learn skills anytime, but the urgent matter at hand is to go find Hake immediately.”

Iyas was fuming with anger. In her view, changing her profession was a complete waste of time that wouldn’t enhance her combat capabilities at all.

Instead of dwelling on a career change, it would be better to think of ways to rescue her brother sooner.

Moreover, she couldn’t possibly give up her identity as an outstanding Elf Warrior. With her physical attributes, being a Priest would be a sheer waste of talent.

Of course, Iyas’s firm refusal of Yang Yu’s idea also stemmed from her belief that if she didn’t waste time learning these miscellaneous skills, she could save time and rescue Hake sooner.

However, Iyas’s anger did not change Yang Yu’s mind.

Yang Yu tried to remain as calm as possible while conversing with Iyas in a composed manner:

”I’ve said that our upcoming adventures will meet with many difficulties; a Priest is essential.”

”Then you could have just found a Priest to join our ranks, which would be far more efficient than forcing me to become one!”

Yang Yu had indeed considered this point.

But where could he find a Priest with talents as high as Iyas’s?

Even if he did find one, it was not certain they would join the team.

Due to the System’s experience penalty mechanism, adding another person would significantly decrease the team’s experience acquisition efficiency, resulting in uneven team levels and obvious weaknesses.

The most ideal team composition remained the three-person Warrior, Mage, Priest.

As for Demons, they were just an addition to the team. One couldn’t count on a disobedient Demon for output.

Yet Iyas, who was native to the land, evidently didn’t understand the importance of the Warrior, Mage, Priest team to their future adventures. She started to become aggressive towards Yang Yu over his failure to immediately go to the auction house to rescue her brother, challenging his decisions.

Although Yang Yu also felt that Iyas would be angry about his decision, he didn’t expect her to resist to this extent.

Yang Yu had previously hinted to Iyas that he might have her learn some healing skills, and she had shown some understanding.

But when it came time to actually learn them, Iyas still clung to her own beliefs and stubbornly refused to learn.

This frustrated Yang Yu to no end.

In comparison to when they first met, she had shown no improvement; as soon as her brother was involved, she would lose all sense of reason and be unable to calm down and think.

The more he tried to reason with her, the more he felt it was futile.

I need to be firmer in my approach.

Yang Yu pulled Iyas aside, and the two had a private conversation.

”Iyas, I understand how you feel, but I’ve said it before, with our current strength, there’s no way we can successfully escape after completing the rescue.”

”Even so, there’s no need to make me learn Priest Skills and become a Priest.

I’m an Archer; you should be breaking through in areas where I excel.

Why insist on making me learn Priest Skills?

Besides, after all your battles I’ve seen, you’ve hardly been injured, there’s no need for healing.

And even if you do get hurt occasionally, it can be quickly treated with medicine.

There’s simply no need to specifically become a Priest.”

Truth be told, thanks to Yang Yu’s agile handling, he had indeed rarely been injured in front of Iyas.

”I haven’t been injured now because, for the most part, the opponents I face are within my ability to cope.

But if one day I encounter someone I can’t handle and have to fight with the resolve of facing death, having one more healing profession could be the difference between life and death.

That’s why I urgently want you to become a Priest, to help the team move forward.

I know becoming a Priest won’t enhance the strength you’re seeking in any way, but your becoming a Priest qualitatively enhances the strength of the entire team.

We’ve been together for so long, you wouldn’t want to see the whole team perish for lack of a Priest, would you?”

Iyas argued with patience, but she remained unconvinced, sticking to her own opinions.

Iyas’s standpoint was unwavering from start to finish; she wanted to rescue her brother first. After rescuing him, she was willing to do whatever Yang Yu asked, even willingly becoming a genuine Priest, but now was definitely not the time.

Studying to be a Priest here was purely a waste of time.

Seeing Iyas’s determined attitude and her continued desire to leave, Yang Yu knew that no more talking would help.

He had indeed considered just taking Iyas to find her brother.

But after rescuing her brother, the people from Sunrise Guild would certainly not let things slide; they might use their connections and power to issue a warrant and cast a wide net within this country.

By that time, they shouldn’t be leisurely studying the Path of Priest in some church; instead, they should promptly leave this country and head to Wansheng Country.

Meaning, the time before going to find her brother was the best opportunity to learn to become a Priest.

If they missed this opportunity, Iyas wouldn’t know when she would have the chance to become a Priest again.

Taking a deep breath, Yang Yu once again tried to explain to Iyas the reasons for staying here to study.

But Iyas, completely obsessed with her brother’s situation, simply wouldn’t listen to anything Yang Yu said.

Having no other option, Yang Yu had to be even more adamant,

”You stay here and learn the Path of Priest, and we won’t leave until you learn it. You have no room for rebuttal.”

Iyas had never imagined that Yang Yu would speak so forcefully.

She bit her lip tightly, trying to persuade Yang Yu to change his decision. However, Yang Yu’s expression was unusually resolute, indicating that he would keep Iyas here, and if she didn’t learn to use Holy Light, they definitely wouldn’t leave to find her brother.

Iyas realized that no matter what she did, she could no longer change Yang Yu’s mind and could only stare at him angrily.

Iyas also had no way to resist Yang Yu’s ”dictatorship”; after all, if not for Yang Yu, she wouldn’t be in her current position, nor would she even know where her brother was.
