The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1378: Chapter 1377: To Put It Bluntly, She Just Couldn’t Figure It Out Herself

”I know.” Caryn Zachmann lowered her gaze, her expression indifferent on her bright and composed face, and she lightly replied to her mom.

She obviously didn’t take the phone call from Mrs. Gordon to heart, flicking her nail casually, her eyes carrying a hint of dismissiveness, she said slowly, ”How could I possibly involve myself in this mess for Mateo Gordon’s sake.”

What is Mateo Gordon to me.

He’s just a sycophant hanging around me!

Mrs. Gordon and Mateo Gordon are both incompetent in her eyes, mother and son are nothing but burdensome allies; if by any chance they were capable of actually doing something and could get rid of that troublemaker Nathalie Quinlan, then perhaps she would step forward to help them navigate connections.

But mother and son are equally useless!

With that alone, Caryn Zachmann never considered helping Mrs. Gordon. She agreed readily over the phone just to save face for Mrs. Gordon; she couldn’t be bothered to say too much to her, better to agree upfront and let her believe she had a good heart.

As to whether she actually sought out Nathalie Quinlan...

Caryn Zachmann curled her lips disdainfully, let out a cold laugh: ”I’m just fooling her. Anyway, she doesn’t know whether I actually pleaded with Nathalie Quinlan. At worst, when she calls me next time asking, I’ll just say it wasn’t that I didn’t go, but Nathalie Quinlan didn’t want to let their family off.”

Celine Tucker, having heard her words, found nothing wrong, seemingly even agreeing with her handling of the situation, gently praised: ”That’s the right way to think about it, don’t concern yourself with this matter, let’s just watch the fun. If she looks for you, just tell her Nathalie Quinlan isn’t willing to release them, and there’s nothing you can do.”

”...Heh, to put it bluntly, she’s just not clear-headed!”

Celine Tucker adjusted her shawl, appearing very elegant and gentle, and softly said: ”Since Nathalie Quinlan had someone break Mateo Gordon’s arm in the detention center, do you expect Nathalie Quinlan to spare Mateo Gordon and Thomas Gordon if you go find her?”

”Going to Nathalie Quinlan would only make that troublemaker laugh at you!”

”Exactly.” Caryn Zachmann’s eyes flickered briefly; she had felt a bit guilty inside before.

After all, Mateo Gordon ended up in this mess for standing up for her, leading to the Gordons’ current predicament.

Now, after some comfort from Celine Tucker, the little guilt she had was completely wiped away, she grew more composed, even a bit impatient: ”It’s not that I don’t want to help. She wants me to find Nathalie Quinlan, would that be effective? Instead of seeking ways with me, she should think about whom else the Gordons are connected with and quickly find those people for help. Of course, Mateo Gordon is my friend, and his mom came to me, I wouldn’t just ignore it.”

Caryn Zachmann opened the car door to get in, turning her head slightly and saying nonchalantly to Celine Tucker after getting into the car: ”Mom, what do you think about me sending a message to Govert Griffin later?”

Celine Tucker immediately understood, closing the car door for her, smiling: ”Mm, it’s up to you. Sending a message to Govert Griffin would be the utmost kindness you can extend toward the Gordons. Whether or not they can survive this ordeal depends on their own fate! If they can’t get past it, it’s just their misfortune, and it has nothing to do with you.”

Caryn Zachmann thought so too, so she stopped talking, took out her phone, lowered her gaze, found Govert Griffin on WhatsApp, and tentatively sent a message.

She had thought about messaging Sadam Vinson or Brian Bonette, only both of them were exceedingly indifferent toward her.
