The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1372: Chapter 1372: Are You Hiding Something from Me

A wealthy district in Beijing, worth a considerable amount.

A four-story grand villa stands magnificently at the deepest part of the rich district. The villa’s exterior is white, with a slightly European style, looking very impressive from the outside.

Mr. Gordon had been out all day and just got home.

He took off his coat, handed it to the servant who came up to help him with his slippers, then loosened his collar as he walked inside, speaking as he walked: ”When I just got home, I saw a car driving out of the house. Who came over?”

Mrs. Gordon looked preoccupied, clutching her phone, lost in thought, not even noticing that Mr. Gordon had returned.

Seeing her strange expression, Mr. Gordon felt a vague sense of unease, and his intuition told him that something had happened.

He didn’t bother to loosen his tie, took large strides to his wife, and asked her in a deep, authoritative voice, ”Who visited our house? Your friend?”

”I...”

Mrs. Gordon was nearly fifty, but well-maintained. Her facial features looked gentle, clearly someone without much assertiveness.

That’s indeed the case.

In daily life, she almost always listened to her husband, never talking back. Mrs. Gordon’s gentle and courteous character was simply every man’s dream wife.

”What exactly happened!” Mr. Gordon saw that she was agitated and didn’t dare to look his way, which made him even more uneasy: ”Are you hiding something from me?”

Mrs. Gordon’s eyes were already red.

Seeing her like this, they had been married for decades and had a son together. To say there was no affection would be a lie.

He couldn’t bear to see his old wife cry any longer, placing a hand on Mrs. Gordon’s shoulder, his tone noticeably softer than before: ”Okay, stop crying. I wasn’t intending to yell at you. I’ve just been in a bad mood lately, so don’t worry too much.”

Mateo Gordon was still locked up in the detention center.

Mr. Gordon had been running around trying to get him out, so how could he not be frustrated?

Mr. Gordon patted her shoulder again, comforting her: ”I know you haven’t been eating or sleeping well these past few days because of Mateo. But you shouldn’t worry too much. You need to take care of your own health. I’m working on Mateo’s situation.”

Hearing him say this only made Mrs. Gordon feel more guilty. She raised her head and, after a long pause, weakly murmured: ”I... I hired someone to hit Nathalie Quinlan.”

The moment before, Mr. Gordon had his hand on her shoulder, patiently and gently comforting her.

Upon hearing Mrs. Gordon’s words, he momentarily doubted his ears, removing his hand and sharply raising his voice: ”What did you say?!”

Startled, Mrs. Gordon timidly started again: ”I... I just couldn’t bear the thought of Mateo suffering in the detention center because of her, my heart felt like it was being cut with a knife, I felt so distressed that I just...”

”You hired someone to hit Nathalie Quinlan?!” Mr. Gordon was almost driven mad with anger, his face turning green as he pointed at her nose, his finger trembling: ”Are you out of your mind? Why didn’t you discuss such a big matter with me?”

Mrs. Gordon’s eyes reddened again, lowering her head as she wiped away tears, sobbing: ”Our son has been locked up in the detention center for almost a week. He’s never suffered like this since he was little. I just couldn’t stand it, so I...”

Mr. Gordon was almost speechless: ”That was his own stupidity, not thinking things through, being used by others like a fool. If he had been a little smarter, he wouldn’t have been exploited like an idiot!”
