The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 797: Chapter 797: Amadeus, Are You Confessing to Me?_1

Amadeus Yancey had no intention of moving aside. He still pinned her against the car, lowered his head, crooked around her neck, and his eyes, flirtatious and enticing, crinkled with a smile, ”You said you liked Edric at the banquet, and Candice Yancey just sent me a WhatsApp message saying you like ’puppies’.”

”Oh.” Nathalie Quinlan’s mind finally caught up. Their eyes met, and she instinctively raised her hand to adjust her cap, then remembered she hadn’t worn her Duckbill Cap today since she was meeting elders. She silently lowered her hand, her gaze forthright, ”I do like Edric, and Mrs. Yancey wasn’t wrong to say so.”

She admitted it?

Amadeus Yancey’s eyes deepened, darkened a shade, then drew imperceptibly closer, shortening the space between them. His breath, warm and tickling, grazed Nathalie Quinlan’s neck, slightly tinged with the scent of liquor—subtle and faint, yet his earlobes flushed a faint red, sensually alluring.

”What’s wrong with being older?”

His voice was gritty, low, and husky.

Nathalie Quinlan was taken aback by his question and pondered, ”...There’s nothing wrong with it.”

Amadeus Yancey stared at the girl in his arms. Her pale, delicate face with striking features was utterly captivating—yet somewhat too wild to tame.

Like a little wolf cub.

Easy to startle and run away if not careful.

He thought he was a hunter patient enough, but the moment he saw the teasing text message from Candice Yancey in the elevator, his defenses broke down.

His gaze settled on the lowered lashes of the girl he had cornered, her long, dense eyelashes casting delicate shadows, her clear eyes hidden beneath. From this angle, she was undeniably adorable.

He too had experienced his schooling days and fully understood what type of girl college boys liked.

A girl like Nathalie Quinlan would definitely start a craze once she entered university.

She was all but set to be the campus belle of Tsinghua University for the next three years!

He remembered how she was approached by a boy asking for her WhatsApp on her way to an exam at Tsinghua University. Although she didn’t give it, who knew about the future?

”If it’s not bad, then why don’t you like it?” Amadeus Yancey breathed, tightening his hold slightly, his gaze growing even deeper as he looked at the girl in his arms and slowly said, ”...Compared to puppies, older people are more mature and stable, and they take better care of others. What do you think?”

”...”

Nathalie Quinlan had never really thought about it before, but that didn’t mean she was clueless.

She had once asked, but someone had vowed solemnly that they were just good friends, so she dismissed the thought from her mind.

Assigning his behavior to the ’just friends’ category.

But now...

She looked at the man’s increasingly obvious behavior, her back against the car frame, her breath hushed, her eyes narrowed, and spoke quite directly, ”Amadeus, are you confessing to me?”

She hadn’t wanted to ask, the memory of being smacked in the face was still painful.

If it turned out to be another case of wishful thinking, it would be too embarrassing!

However, Nathalie Quinlan was never the type to be shy or reticent. Since the idea popped into her head, she wouldn’t hide it or hesitate to speak it out loud.

Amadeus Yancey hadn’t expected her to be so forthright, his eyes clear and focused on her, almost feeling outmaneuvered.

But without much hesitation, he smiled softly, his deep and glossy eyes shining, his face as captivatingly handsome as one of Beijing’s top beauties, ”If I say it is, that I am confessing to you, how do you plan to answer?”

”...” Nathalie Quinlan had considered this answer before, but hearing him say it so bluntly caught her a bit off guard.

Hmm, how to answer?

If it were anyone else, she would have likely replied without a second thought, ”No way.”

But Amadeus Yancey...
