The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 790: Chapter 790: Ivy Wilmar and Others Are Stopped Outside_1

The words say one thing, but his hands unconsciously tugged at his clothes, constantly maintaining his best appearance.

Candice Yancey saw his involuntary fidgeting with the clothes and smiled, seeing through him but choosing not to expose him.

Following his lead, she said, ”Yeah, yeah, you’re not nervous, so I’ll be nervous for you, alright?”

”Now that you mention it, I haven’t seen Nathalie for a long time since our last meeting. I kind of miss her.”

Mr. Yancey gave her a sidelong glance but didn’t make a sound.

She might not have seen her for a long time, but as for himself, he’d never met her before—this was the first time! It all came back to that unworthy descendant in his family!

Mr. Yancey then remembered, ”Right, have you sorted out the place for dinner?”

Candice Yancey, both amused and slightly exasperated, pressed her hands on his shoulders and said, ”As if they could refuse when you ask. Don’t worry, I have booked it. The whole venue will be yours.”

”Where are we eating?”

Candice Yancey’s eyes softened, and with a smile she replied, ”Imperial Hotel. Amadeus chose it specially for you because he was worried you might not be accustomed to strong-tasting dishes. The food there is lighter and more suitable for someone of your age.”

”At my age, I can eat anything. There’s no need for you all to accommodate my tastes...” While he said this, he couldn’t conceal the smile on his face, obviously delighted inside but still trying to put up a tough front.

Imperial Hotel.

At the moment, Ghania Quinlan was following closely behind Ivy Wilmar, making her way inside.

She had returned to Beijing from McKinney half a month ago, spent a few days there and then went overseas with Steven to compete.

She had just returned the day before, holding a gold medal from the competition.

Soon, Ivy Wilmar would release this news to the domestic media to create hype for her.

Ghania Quinlan’s composure and demeanor had improved a lot since her return, having seen plenty of the world outside with Steven, and she appeared much more poised.

Ivy Wilmar had invited many friends from their circle to the meal, partly with the intention of introducing her to people in the upper circle.

Ghania Quinlan was well aware of this but did not show her happiness as easily as before.

Even when she was happy, she restrained her expressions, not as openly emotional as she used to be.

”Mr. Wilmar, this... It might not be convenient today. Someone has booked the entire venue.”

Ghania Quinlan, who had just been lost in thought, snapped back to attention and looked up in surprise when she heard a manager or someone similar speaking to Ivy Wilmar.

Booked the entire venue?

Who had the clout to book the entire Imperial Hotel?

The Imperial Hotel was no ordinary place; even getting a reservation for a meal on a normal day was difficult, let alone booking the entire venue.

This wasn’t something money alone could accomplish.

Beijing was full of people with deep pockets, and it was well known that the owner of the Imperial Hotel had significant clout—so deep were the waters, who could possibly book the entire venue?

Ivy Wilmar had the same reaction, momentarily at a loss: ”You say someone has booked the venue? Who?”

”Well...” The manager glanced at her, polite but revealing nothing: ”We can’t disclose that.”

In Beijing, there was always someone higher up the ladder, always a bigger fish.

Even though Ivy Wilmar was not pleased, she couldn’t really complain and instead sought a compromise: ”We’re already here; you can’t expect us to just leave. How about this, we won’t ask for a private room, just arrange a place for us in the main dining area, can you do that?”

Since Mr. Wilmar had been brought back from death’s door, his presence meant that the Wilmar family’s influence in Beijing remained undiminished.

She didn’t expect the manager would refuse her request.

But who knew.

”I’m sorry, but the Imperial Hotel has been booked out today, the main dining area included. Mr. Wilmar, perhaps you could come another day?”
