The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 774: Chapter 774: Amadeus Has Already Made an Appointment to Meet the Parents_1

”... why aren’t you watching where you’re walking?” Amadeus Yancey’s low, magnetic voice descended from above her head.

Nathalie Quinlan maintained a safe distance from him, put away her phone, and with a slightly irritated lift of her brow, her pitch-black eyes looked at him and laughed, her provocative intent was clear, ”Because I didn’t expect someone to stand in front of me without making a sound.”

”Heh.” Clearly, the one being disliked was him, but Amadeus Yancey chuckled deeply, with a teasing glint in his eyes, he reached out to ruffle her hair, his tone soothing and alluring, ”Are you angry?”

”...”

”I didn’t expect you to be so focused that you didn’t notice me approaching,” he explained again, good-naturedly.

”...”

Nathalie Quinlan always felt agitated without knowing exactly why, but under his gaze, she felt a burning heat throughout her body, especially on her face and the tips of her ears, so hot that she wanted to remove the scarf from around her neck.

After a moment of silence, she tugged at her scarf to let out the heat, pushing down the fiery look in her eyes, then raised her head and asked, ”Did you want to see me for something?”

She thought Amadeus Yancey had come to find her because of Phoebe Hoffman.

Unexpectedly, he didn’t even mention Phoebe Hoffman, ”When do you plan to go back to McKinney?”

Nathalie Quinlan’s attention shifted to the matter at hand. She averted her gaze and stood in a relaxed posture, her legs, clad in jeans, long and straight, ”I haven’t decided yet.”

”Tomorrow?” Nathalie Quinlan was uncertain, ”Not tomorrow, then probably the day after. Either way, I haven’t written the prescription for Master Cadmus yet.”

That meant if she wrote the prescription in the morning, she might leave today.

Amadeus Yancey’s eyes drooped low, his gaze tenderly fragmented as it landed on her, ”So soon?”

”Not necessarily,” Nathalie Quinlan felt increasingly uncomfortable surrounded by his gaze and, raising her hand subconsciously to pull at her hat, realized that she had rushed out that day and hadn’t worn her duckbill cap. She silently lowered her hand again, a tad embarrassed and flustered, ”The main thing is, there’s not much for me to do here, so it might be better to go back earlier. I could go back and read, prepare for exams.”

”Besides, Uncle Cagwin needs someone to watch over him.”

The latter was the real reason she didn’t want to stay in Beijing.

With Freddy Cagwin taking college entrance exams and Aunt Cagwin having to take care of him and also running to the hospital, she going back would at least be able to offer some help.

Amadeus Yancey was aware of her special feelings towards the Cagwin Family, as well as her usual extra care for them. He naturally took the things from her hand and suggested, ”My grandfather knows you’re in Beijing and would like to invite you to dinner. How about having dinner with him tomorrow, and I’ll go back with you the day after?”

”Tomorrow?” Nathalie Quinlan frowned, just about to refuse.

Then she heard the man speak leisurely, ”Edric will be there too.”

Nathalie Quinlan: ”...”

When Amadeus Yancey saw that the girl didn’t refuse immediately, he laughed lightly, lowered his eyelids, his face strikingly attractive, ”You haven’t seen him for a long time. He’d be very happy if you went, and in a few days, it’s his birthday. You want to return to McKinney and he might not be able to come back; he’s going to stay in Beijing for a while.”

Sure enough, Nathalie Quinlan wavered, and she looked up, ”What time tomorrow?”

”You’re planning to sleep in,” Amadeus Yancey’s lips curved upward, his deep-set eyes and chiseled, stately features emanated a sense of pride, ”How about dinner?”

”That’s fine,” Nathalie Quinlan had no objections and asked about the location.

Amadeus Yancey had considered this and inquired about her preference, ”The elderly shouldn’t eat food that’s too heavy. How about the Imperial Hotel?”

It was just a meal.

Of course, Nathalie Quinlan wouldn’t refuse, ”You decide, it’s your territory.”
