The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 789: Chapter 789: Who Told You I Was Nervous_1

Mr. Yancey’s gaze shifted away from the mirror, and he said irritably, ”I didn’t ask if it fit, I’m asking if I look approachable and kind. Would young people like it? Is this color too serious?”

The old butler looked at his powerful presence clad in full attire, then at his grizzled hair and serious countenance, pondered over the question he had just asked, and tentatively whispered, ”If you think the color is too serious, maybe switch to red? Red is festive.”

”It’s not Chinese New Year!” Mr. Yancey looked back at the mirror, ”Forget it, my taste is rubbish, I shouldn’t ask you.”

Butler: ”...”

Having watched him posing in front of the mirror all morning, the butler really couldn’t stand it anymore and reminded him softly, ”Mr. Yancey, why don’t you ask the young master? He should know what colors Ms. Quinlan likes.”

Mr. Yancey’s eyes lit up, he gave the butler an approving glance, and then looked towards the living room.

Edric Yancey was nestled on the sofa playing with his phone. He was clearly well-dressed today, his hair combed smoothly and pinned behind his head, revealing a small, pale, and tender face that was irresistibly cute.

However, his small face seemed serious and taut, diminishing his cuteness significantly.

”Edric.”

The little boy on the sofa lifted his head, and his dark, deep eyes were a distinctive Yancey family trait. Despite his young age, his facial features were already discernible. Mr. Yancey, coughed awkwardly, finding it embarrassing to broach the subject with him.

But the little guy was astute as if he heard their previous conversation. He eyed Mr. Yancey up and down, then said, ”Cute.”

Mr. Yancey: ”??”

”What’s cute?”

Edric shifted his gaze away, placed the phone on his knees, leaned back, and revealed a sweeter with a cat’s head on it underneath his open jacket; he was also wearing a cat brooch on the side. His small chin tilted up slightly, and although his face was expressionless, Mr. Yancey could swear he saw a hint of pride in his expression, ”Sister likes cute things.”

”...” Mr. Yancey’s mouth twitched.

Realizing his odd dressing style today, Mr. Yancey finally understood why he was so insistent on having the nanny find him clothes printed with cat patterns. It was because of Nathalie Quinlan!

His gaze returned to the little figure huddled on the sofa, and his heart felt a strange twinge.

The older one never at home, the younger one behaving like this, it was heart-wrenching.

Just as the heart-wrenching Mr. Yancey was trying to collect himself, he heard the sound of a car parking outside.

The butler whispered to him, ”It seems the young lady has returned.”

No sooner had he finished speaking.

Candice Yancey marched in from outside, looking sharp. Upon seeing them, she put down her car keys and greeted, ”Dad, are you ready? We should be leaving soon.”

Mr. Yancey felt he was almost ready, but Edric’s comment made him less confident. Looking up, he asked her, ”Would this outfit seem too dull? Hard to approach?”

”Uhm...” Candice, who had rushed back from work, hadn’t caught up yet. She put down her car keys and finally looked at him, grasped what he was getting at, and laughed softly, ”Dad, you don’t have to be so nervous. Nathalie is easy to get along with, she isn’t the pretentious type.”

”Ahem.” Mr. Yancey found it hard to save face, mainly because he was embarrassed to admit he cared about this, and put on a stern face, pretending to be angry, ”Who said I was nervous? Just meeting a junior, why should I be nervous?”
