The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 451: Chapter 451: The Pleasure of a Resounding Face Slap_1

Nathalie Quinlan repressed her gaze, her eyes showing a helpless defiance as she explained to him, ”I only found out yesterday myself.”

She didn’t know Justin Wafford was coming to Beijing. Had she known, she would have told him in advance.

The incident had happened, and Nathalie didn’t dwell on it too much. Since he was already here, she treated it as a weekend outing to relax, ”Do you have a return airplane ticket?”

Justin Wafford seemed to have half his soul floating in the air, dizzy and as if he was walking on clouds, feeling surreal. Hearing Nathalie’s question, he hadn’t quite come back to himself yet, ”...no, I didn’t buy it. I was going to see how you were first.”

Nathalie Quinlan stood without proper posture, looking down in thought and then pursed her lips to say, ”I’m going back tomorrow, you can come with me. I’ll buy your airplane ticket.”

”Ah. Alright, okay.”

Justin Wafford still couldn’t snap back to reality, mainly because the difference in expectations was too staggering. He felt like he had jumped from a cliff to floating on a cloud, dizzy.

Before coming, he had thought that if Nathalie was too badly affected, he would stay a few more days and ask his school for a couple of days off.

Now...

Justin Wafford couldn’t quite articulate whether he felt more happiness or shock. He had traveled miles on an airplane to come here, and in the end, he comforted loneliness!

He took a deep breath, his mind clearing up a bit, gradually regaining his composure. Looking at Nathalie again, he felt more happiness than shock.

A few days ago, the rumor at school was that Ghania Quinlan had a high chance of getting into Tsinghua University, and everyone in Class B was elated, claiming that the school shouldn’t have let Ghania transfer, as if No. 1 Middle School would have produced another Tsinghua prodigy this year.

As the rumors spread, they took on a life of their own, evolving into claims that Nathalie Quinlan had bullied Ghania into transferring in order to steal the title of school beauty.

Similar comments were widespread on the school forum, with some lower-year students who didn’t know the full story joining the fray with their comments...

Yesterday, someone posted Ghania’s scores on the forum, 588 points, a secure spot at Tsinghua. The forum’s drama intensified to the point where someone even suggested that the principal should invite her back.

They looked righteous and indignant, but were helpless because Nathalie’s ’poor grades’ left them with no rebuttal.

Looking back at those comments now, Justin Wafford felt a sense of face-slapping pleasure!

One word, thrilling!

Thinking this, he couldn’t wait to send a message to Jhovany Sullivan and the others who were waiting for news. However, just at that moment, the man who had stepped aside to take a phone call came back, Phone in hand, his features relaxed and his gaze deep as he looked towards them and said, ”Your aunt and the rest have arrived. We should get going.”

Nathalie nodded, then turned to Justin Wafford and said, ”Come have lunch with me at noon; you know everyone there. You’ve met them before.”

She had previously celebrated her birthday at Waterfront Pavilion, and Candice Yancey had been there. They had sat at the same table, though Justin Wafford didn’t recognize anyone and just took Candice to be an elder.

Justin Wafford, elated by the good news, didn’t think too much about it. Besides, he was naturally upbeat, and hearing that the others were acquaintances from Nathalie, he felt even more at ease. He nodded, his heart still on sharing Nathalie’s academic results with Jhovany Sullivan and the others, and readily agreed, ”Yeah, sure. What about my luggage...?”

It was only then that Nathalie remembered the hotel issue. Her brows lifted in amusement as she asked him, ”Did you book a hotel?”

Justin Wafford shook his head in befuddled embarrassment, touching his nose sheepishly and said, ”No, I didn’t know where you were staying so I didn’t make a reservation.”

Nathalie took out her phone, looked down to open the hotel booking app with a casual air, ”I’ll book one for you.”
