The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 452: Chapter 452: Why Does Nathalie’s Boyfriend Look at Him So Coldly_1

”No, Nathalie, I’ll book it myself.” Justin Wafford quickly covered her phone with his hand, adamantly refusing to let her book the hotel: ”Just tell me where you’re staying, and I’ll book a nearby hotel myself.”

Otherwise, if Nathalie Quinlan booked his airplane tickets and hotel, it would look like he had come to mooch off a meal, which was too embarrassing!

Nathalie couldn’t overpower his persistence, and the matter of booking the hotel was temporarily put to rest.

Since Candice Yancey had already arrived, they couldn’t go to look for a hotel first, and Justin Wafford’s luggage could only be put in the trunk of the car for the time being. They would go to the hotel to check-in after dinner.

Justin Wafford had just heard that Nathalie scored 650 points and was dizzy from the shock. When he saw Alfred Garland drive out in a Hongqi with the license plate Beijing.666888 hanging in front, he didn’t know what kind of expression to make. His face twitched and he looked at Nathalie with a complex gaze, his throat dry and a bit raspy: ”Nathalie, your friend drives a Hongqi?”

He wanted to say boyfriend, but then he glanced at Amadeus Yancey. The man was exuding a proud and outstanding aura, his hands hanging at his side with Buddhist beads on his wrist, and his legs were long and straight.

When he lifted his eyelids and glanced in his direction, the light in his eyes shimmered ever so slightly. Even though it was just a fleeting look, it made Justin Wafford tense up.

Why did he feel like Nathalie’s boyfriend was giving him a weird look, pretty cold, but with an imposing vibe that almost left him breathless!

Nathalie hadn’t noticed this small detail and opened the car door, turning back to him and saying, ”Get in the car first.”

”Oh, alright.” Justin Wafford quickly averted his gaze, responded, and slid into the car.

In a private room in the southwest part of Imperial Hotel, the table was filled with beautifully presented Suzhou dishes, looking appetizing in both color and scent.

However, Ghania Quinlan hardly touched them. After just a bite or two, she put down her chopsticks, her appetite gone.

Zayn Fisher noticed her pale side profile and felt a twinge of heartache. In a lowered voice, he asked, ”What’s wrong, don’t you like the food?”

Ghania Quinlan managed a strained smile and shook her head. Her hands clasped tightly over her clothes on her lap, she spoke softly, ”No, the food is delicious. I have a cold and can’t eat much.”

Zayn Fisher remained silent, knowing why she couldn’t eat. He himself wasn’t feeling much better, but with roommates around, it wasn’t appropriate to show too much concern.

Seeing him fall silent, Ghania Quinlan bit her lip and her eyes welled with emotion. Placing her hand gently on the back of his hand under the table, she considerately said, ”Zayn, thank you for inviting your friends to dinner for me.”

Zayn Fisher felt even more pained by her thoughtfulness and slightly uplifted. In a low voice, he said, ”You getting into Tsinghua University is an achievement worth celebrating. A dinner is the least I could do. I even wanted to take you on a trip before, but now...”

Their mood turned heavy at that point.

Indeed, Ghania Quinlan’s admission to Tsinghua University ought to have been a celebratory occasion. However, Zeus Tanzil’s previous remarks had cast a shadow over their joy, and neither Ghania nor Zayn wanted to dwell on it, as thinking about it only made them less happy.

Zayn Fisher, being a boy, felt it was his duty to comfort his girlfriend. He forced himself to overlook the gloom weighing on his heart, looked at Ghania with tender eyes, and whispered, ”Don’t overthink it, the person Zeus Tanzil mentioned might not be Nathalie. Her grades have never been good; it’s impossible for her to score that well on the joint exam. Zeus might be talking nonsense; he’s not a teacher after all, where would he have seen the scores.”
