The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 472: Chapter 472: Can Still Seek Mercy from Ghania Quinlan_1

During that time, Ivy Wilmar was running up and down tirelessly, with Myles Sullivan also following her around to manage connections everywhere; yet despite all this effort, Mr. Wilmar still got skinned by his adversaries.

Subsequently, the Wilmar Family ’exiled’ him to McKinney, where he was stuck for several years.

Jeff Quinlan had never imagined that Jecksen Wilmar was involved in this matter. It took him quite a while to come back to his senses, spinning the words Mr. Vinson had just spoken in his mind, even long after having seen off the head of the Detention Center.

”Is Freddy Cagwin never getting out?” Aunt Cagwin, who lived in a humble abode, had only ever been to the biggest place in McKinney. Even in that small world, she felt as insignificant as an ant, let alone in the grander scheme of Beijing.

She barely understood what she had just heard, but one thing was clear to her: Freddy Cagwin’s recent trouble involved some important person from Beijing, someone with strong connections; it wouldn’t be easy to resolve.

Her heart clenched with anxiety, filled with burning concern but nowhere to turn.

”He...”

Jeff Quinlan collected himself, took a deep breath, and reassuringly placed his hand on her shoulder, saying, ”Aunt Cagwin, it’s not as bad as you think. The person Mr. Vinson mentioned, Ghania’s uncle knows him. When I go back, I will think of a solution for you. Perhaps it’s not impossible to get Freddy Cagwin out...”

Though he said this with little confidence. Myles Sullivan had always looked down on him, and it would be even less likely that he would help him with anything. If he were to call Myles Sullivan about this issue, he would probably be met with scorn and mockery, ending with Sullivan unwilling to lend a hand.

So to speak to Myles Sullivan about this, he would need to go through Ghania.

”Ghania performed really well on her exams and was successfully admitted to Tsinghua University. Her uncle is very pleased right now. I’ll talk to her when I return, and see if she can help relay a message. As long as the Wilmar Family steps in, the police station has no reason to keep holding him.”

Upon hearing that they needed Ghania’s help, Aunt Cagwin’s heart sank even further. She had been working at the Quinlan Family household for many years and knew all too well what kind of person the Quinlan’s ’gentle and kind-hearted’ daughter was—much like Cindy Lawrence; cold-blooded and merciless. Asking Ghania for help was about as likely as pigs flying.

Despite knowing there wasn’t much hope, the solution Jeff Quinlan suggested was still the best one she could find at the moment.

Aunt Cagwin’s sallow face was extremely weary, but her eyes were full of sincerity as she earnestly thanked the man in the suit, ”Mr. Quinlan, thank you for just now. I am already grateful that you were willing to help. If Freddy Cagwin truly can’t be saved, then let it be...”

”I heard from the head of the detention center that the Mr. Wilmar from Beijing is quite powerful. Don’t get yourself dragged into this. If you implicate yourself on my account, I will feel even more uneasy. I’d rather leave things as they are.”

As a woman who ran a small street stall, she wasn’t worldly—one could tell by her deference to a station chief who dares not even speak a name, that this unnamed person was undoubtedly very powerful. She wanted to bail out her son, but not at the expense of involving others irrelevant to the matter.

”It’s not as serious as you think, it won’t drag me down.”

Jeff Quinlan breathed a sigh of relief, optimistically patted her shoulder, believing that if Ghania would speak to Myles Sullivan on their behalf, the issue might not be difficult to resolve.

Not giving Aunt Cagwin a chance to say more, he gently urged her by the shoulder, comforting her, ”Let’s go, and we’ll go in to see how Freddy Cagwin is doing.”

...

Freddy Cagwin was doing alright in the Detention Center, except that his phone had been confiscated. He hadn’t slept for a day and a night and was looking pretty scruffy.

He was surprised to see Aunt Cagwin and Jeff Quinlan together, but he knew that Nathalie Quinlan had gone to Beijing for her exam and might not have returned yet.

He pursed his lips as Aunt Cagwin asked him about his condition. He only said the contraband found in his clothes wasn’t his, and he was unclear who had put it there.
