The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 463: Chapter 463: Amadeus, Your Insights Are Truly Astute_1

”...” Justin Wafford had just scrolled through all the app stores on his phone when he heard her say that. Subconsciously, he wanted to ask her, ’If you can’t download it, then how did you, Nathalie, manage to download it?’

But seeing Nathalie Quinlan’s frustrated expression, he silently swallowed his words.

Standing there, unsure how to comfort Nathalie Quinlan, he struggled to find the right words and eventually said, ”Nathalie, I don’t think Freddy Cagwin is that kind of irresponsible person. The college entrance exam is only three months away; he wouldn’t possibly be lounging in bars. There might be some misunderstanding here.”

Nathalie Quinlan, preoccupied with her thoughts, took a deep breath and said to him, ”Let’s talk about it when we get back.”

...

An incident like this halfway through the meal made Nathalie Quinlan eat absentmindedly.

Luckily, Candice Yancey wasn’t in much better shape, also distracted, and kept sneakily glancing at her.

Nathalie Quinlan felt Candice Yancey staring at her but wasn’t in the mood to ask why. She didn’t want to understand what she was looking at. The meal was tasteless to her, and she put down her chopsticks after only a few bites.

Finally, the meal ended with great difficulty. Candice Yancey made small talk with them for a bit, but then work called and she had to leave first.

Before leaving, Candice Yancey thought of the item in her bag. Looking at Nathalie Quinlan, her expression was extremely complex, but her tone was very gentle as she said, ”Nathalie, congratulations on getting into Tsinghua University! I meant to buy you a gift to celebrate your admission, but I rushed over and didn’t bring it with me.”

In fact, she had brought it; it was lying in her bag. She didn’t have the courage to take it out.

How could she seriously give someone, with a gift box, what others casually chewed like gum for fun?

Besides, Nathalie Quinlan wasn’t just anybody; she was the Yancey Family’s benefactor and the person she acknowledged as the future wife to her nephew. Gift-giving had to be done with care, and since this gift wasn’t suitable, she would have to find another.

Candice Yancey, who was usually strict and stern outside, was exceptionally gentle and agreeable with her, ”Next time you come to Beijing, I’ll give you an apartment.”

Nathalie Quinlan: ”?”

Is giving houses away as gifts in fashion now?

She rubbed her forehead, still thinking about Freddy Cagwin’s situation, and somewhat absentmindedly declined, ”I appreciate your kindness, Aunt, but there’s no need for a house. I have a place in Beijing.”

However, Candice Yancey took her reply as a form of politeness and smiled, ”Where did you get a house from on your first trip to Beijing?”

Justin Wafford sat on the side, itching to join in but finding no opportunity. His expression was as complex and uncomfortable as Alfred Garland’s had been earlier.

Turns out Nathalie wasn’t boasting at all!

She really did have a place in Beijing!

He had seen with his own eyes the head of Pinecone Group gifting Nathalie several property deeds in Beijing as a birthday gift.

Candice Yancey, thinking the new gift she had in mind was rather good, with a relaxed look on her face, patted Nathalie on the shoulder and said, ”That’s settled then. I have an apartment near where Amadeus resides, a single-story unit, 168 square meters, that’s been decorated but never lived in. It’s close to Tsinghua University, so it will be convenient for your studies, and it’s near Amadeus too, so you two can look after each other!”

Her phone rang again, urging her to get going. Candice Yancey couldn’t continue speaking with Nathalie, so she quickly gave Amadeus Yancey instructions, ”They’re hurrying me, and I really can’t stay, so I’ll be leaving first. You all have fun.”

”Amadeus, take good care of Nathalie for me.”

”Go on. I’ll take her home in a bit.”

Seeing Amadeus Yancey agree, Candice Yancey hurriedly answered the phone call. She spoke while walking out, quickly leaving the private room.

Once she was gone, Amadeus Yancey leaned back in his chair, his brow deeply furrowed, and turned to ask Nathalie Quinlan, ”What happened?”

He could tell that something was off with Nathalie Quinlan ever since she returned from the restroom, obviously with something weighing on her mind.
