The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 469: Chapter 469: Rise to a New Height in the Mind’s Image_1

At Capital Airport, Justin Wafford didn’t expect that he’d just gotten off the airplane and had to board another one.

He followed Nathalie Quinlan to the terminal to pick up their airplane tickets, and along the way, had his luggage checked in.

Once that was done, it was time to head to the ticket check.

Holding the ticket in his hand, Justin was about to queue up at the security checkpoint for economy class, but suddenly, he looked down at his ticket and was stunned.

”Uh...”

At the spot where ’economy class’ should have been written on the ticket, there were the words ’first class.’ It took him a moment to wrap his mind around it before he raised his head and asked Nathalie, ”Nathalie, did we buy first-class tickets? I remember us buying economy ones. Is there a mistake on this ticket?”

He remembered that when they checked, there were no first-class tickets available, so Nathalie had purchased economy class seats.

But printed clearly on the ticket were the words confirming they had received first-class tickets!

After Justin’s prompt, Nathalie too noticed the discrepancy on the tickets. Her eyes flickered with a hint of understanding, not as surprised as Justin. She probably guessed what had happened, took out her phone, and sent a message to someone.

[QN: Did you change our tickets for us?]

The message had barely been sent when her phone vibrated.

Nathalie looked down; the reply was already there, a simple sentence.

[Amadeus Yancey: I had Gu San check your airplane tickets, and took the liberty of upgrading you to first class. It’s a three-hour flight from Beijing to McKinney; you didn’t sleep well last night so you can get some sleep on the airplane.]

Nathalie’s lips twitched, feeling a soothing warmth at the message, yet also a bit restless—an inexplicable sensation.

She no longer replied to the message but coolly put away her phone and told Justin, ”We bought economy class, but someone upgraded us.”

”The person who changed our tickets is Mr. Yancey?”

He got it in a second—it was definitely Nathalie’s boyfriend.

Only Amadeus Yancey had the means to upgrade their economy tickets to first-class when none were available.

Having received a free upgrade to first class, Justin’s impression of Amadeus soared to new heights.

Indeed, it’s the big shots who end up with big shots!

He approved of Nathalie’s marriage!

Nathalie, unaware of his thoughts, would likely have left him behind in Beijing to fend for himself if she knew.

Although she didn’t know his internal monologue, and found his tone a bit too gossipy, she didn’t respond but went ahead to first class to proceed with the boarding process.

The process of security and boarding for first class was much faster and more convenient than economy class, as it lacked a queue. Nathalie and Justin quickly passed through security, with half an hour left before the airplane’s departure.

Neither Nathalie nor Justin waited in the special first-class lounge, but went straight to the boarding gate. Many had already passed security and were waiting there. It was crowded and noisy, so Nathalie pulled down her hat brim and found a quiet place to sit. She took her phone out of her pocket and sent a message to Aunt Cagwin.

Time ticked away by the second.

She had thought Aunt Cagwin would reply quickly.

Unexpectedly, even as the airport announcements began, there was no response from Aunt Cagwin.

Nathalie frowned, unclear about the situation in McKinney. All she and Justin could do was board the airplane with their tickets.

...

At the McKinney Almeda Street Police Station, Jeff Quinlan had just parked the car when he saw Aunt Cagwin standing at the entrance checking her phone.

As he approached, he asked, ”What’s up?”

Aunt Cagwin quickly put away her phone, her expression complex as she shook her head, ”Nothing, it’s nothing.”

Without further thought, Jeff patted her shoulder in silent comfort, ”Let’s go in.”

Aunt Cagwin, looking at the big doors of the police station, took a deep breath, pocketed her phone, and forced herself not to think about it as she followed Jeff inside the police station.

She couldn’t bring herself to tell Nathalie that they had found Freddy Cagwin at the police station; she decided it was better to understand the situation before explaining.
