The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 457: Chapter 457: Rejected Early but Still Striving Hard_1

Candice Yancey genuinely liked Nathalie Quinlan, wholeheartedly planned for her, and naturally hoped Mr. Yancey would like Nathalie too.

”She came to Beijing for an exam this time and won’t stay long, we’ll talk about it next time.” Amadeus Yancey looked at the time, noticed Nathalie had been gone for five minutes and hadn’t returned, his gaze deepened, as he leisurely sent the private room’s number over.

Nathalie was obviously checking her phone, as his message was successfully sent and she replied to him within seconds.

[NQ: I’ll be right there.]

Amadeus Yancey put away his phone, looked at the dishes Candice Yancey had ordered on the table, called the waiter over, added a few hot and spicy dishes, before he casually said, ”No rush, being too hasty might scare her off.”

Candice, unaware of Nathalie’s preferences and having chosen Imperial Hotel, saw him order a few more hot and spicy dishes and got the hint, silently noting down these dishes and raising her eyes to him, she said, ”You’ve been like this since you were little, never in a hurry. I get anxious just watching you. If you’re not worried then fine. Once Nathalie starts university, there will be loads of people chasing after her. If you’re not in a hurry, just get ready to attend her wedding!”

Alfred Garland also felt Amadeus could keep his cool too well, like an emperor unbothered by the eunuch’s urgency, and sometimes even he got anxious while Amadeus was completely unfazed.

”Yeah, Amadeus, the young lady has a point. When are you going to be honest about your feelings with Ms. Quinlan? Otherwise, find a time to confess to Ms. Quinlan, if by chance you get rejected, you still have the opportunity to try harder.”

His words ”if by chance you get rejected” flowed out smoothly, clearly not the first time he’d thought this.

Amadeus Yancey gave him a glance, his expression indifferent, and delivered a comment, ”I see you’ve been quite idle lately, having the time to meddle in others’ affairs?”

Alfred received the deterrent in his gaze, and his head shook like a bobblehead, ”No, not idle. My mistake, Amadeus.”

Candice couldn’t stand by and watch, scolding him with a glare, ”Why threaten Alfred, he’s not wrong. If you just stand by and watch, one day your treasure will be stolen, and then you’ll know regret!”

In Beijing, the noble ladies and gentlewomen who wanted to pursue Amadeus Yancey were numerous enough to line up from one end of Penny Parkway to the other, and she wasn’t worried about him finding a match at first.

She had a fair idea of how outstanding her nephew was in her heart.

Now, she was quite worried about Nathalie declining.

Nathalie seemed to have an indifferent nature, perhaps she hadn’t even considered dating. Thinking this way, she felt the odds were quite high that Amadeus Yancey might be rejected, and her gaze towards him inevitably carried more sympathy.

As she was thinking this, her phone rang again.

Candice checked the caller ID, picked up the phone, and said a few words to the person on the other line before hastily hanging up.

After hanging up, a layer of irritation appeared on her well-preserved, resolute face as she informed the people in the private room, ”The Wilmar family’s old man might not make it. He has a cerebral hemorrhage and there’s no doctor daring to take his case. From the look of things, if it goes on like this, I’m afraid he won’t last much longer!”

In Beijing, there are only two or three families that could stand with the Yancey Family.

The Sullivan Family couldn’t make the cut, the Tanzil Family might just pass as comparable to the Yancey Family, but if one were to really discuss it, only the Wilmar Family could be on the same level as the Yancey Family.

But ever since Mr. Wilmar’s health declined, the Wilmar Family turned into a muddy mess, with each branch fighting tooth and nail like demons and ghosts, all wanting to show off in front of the dying old man in hopes of maximizing their own interests.

As people age and fall ill, they still have to witness their children and grandchildren squabbling by their sickbeds.
